Error conerned with web.config - asp.net

Following is the error coming while executing.
Server Error in '/' Application.
Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

What correction i hve to make to correct this error

This has to do with your Application Setup in IIS
You need to mark the virtual directory as an Application.
for IIS 6,
Right click the virtual directory containing your application,
go to properties
go to the Virtual Directory Tab
Application Settings Section
Click "Create" Default Application

You need to configure the virtual directory as an application in IIS.

I know this is very old but in just to give a hint incase someone gets a similar issue. Out of the blue, after updates (using manual ftp for server updates not webdeploy) my application bumped unto this error. I am developing an MVC web application. After hours I realised that I had wrongly put the main Web.config file in the the views folder. Replacing that with the proper view folder config file solved the problem.
