Azure Application Insights IPv6 only Pingtest - azure-application-insights

I have a self hosted website which is only available over IPv6. I wanted to create a ping test in Application Insights to get notified if the website goes offline but the ping test fails to resolve the DNS entry. This is most likely because the website does not have a 'A' record but only a 'AAAA' record. Has anyone been able to set up a ping test for this kind of setup?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Not able to make network calls from GCP Compute Engine

I have deployed my services in one of GCP compute engine where we make external HTTP service calls to pull data and process them for our purposes. From last two days, this call is failing with connection timeout. I have tried the same in my system. Things do work smoothly. No changes which are applied in the cloud account at all. Any possible issues which is causing this issue?
I have validated the firewall rules. Everything looks to be fine. Appreciate your valuable suggestions.

it's been a while now since you've asked. Is this still happening? If yes please read on. Otherwise please close the posting.
Your message is quite short on details. I'm going to recap what I got:
What I got from your description
The GCE VM should be connected to the public net (I suppose it's having one of the setups: a direct public IP or an instance group member with Load Balancer or an inter connected VPC with another cloud subscription or GCP project through which it connects to the internet, without an own public IP for the VM)
The VM is not a GKE cluster instance
The VM is hosting some kind of "services" (I suppose this is some kind of containerized services?)
These services relay on establishing outbound connection to the internet
From running the same services on your local machine you can see no malfunction, the service code is ok (I suppose you deploy exactly the same code and an almost identical configuration to the VM?)
No changes have happened to the cloud account (I suppose you mean the subspriction and the project as well?)
Nothing from all this has been changed at all??
Things I'd be controlling in this situation
As your descriptin of the situation is unfortunately very rough, I'd try to give you a rough overview how I'd propose you to proceed in this order. Meanwhile please provide more details on the VM situation described above:
Public IP - No instance group with Load Balancer, No inter connected VPC:
Go to Compute Engine > VM Instances and check the External IP column. Go to Column Display Options in the top right corner of the table and enable the column if you don't see it. Make sure there is an IP here.
If the external IP exists, log in to your VM and make sure that you can ping any public internet site you know working
Trace the connection to the public site to get the route your network flow is taking
Ping the host from the next hop to your local network connection and make sure it's "really" reachable
Check whether you are having a local Firewall on your VM and disable it for a testing moment, ping again the router (or next host on the route towards the public site, from your tracing step above)
Meanwhile please provide more details on the VM situation described above

Google Cloud Hosted VM. This site can’t be reached <URL> refused to connect

Forgive me here, I am largely post-technical for 10+ years and taken this as far as I can. I can probably take any advice and run with it, but may ask for some specifics to help if troubleshooting tools or commands are required. So please forgive that too.
Background:
Yesterday we could hit site URL after restarting VM hosted on Google Cloud. Sometime overnight, the URL was inaccessible.
Message:
This site can’t be reached <URL> refused to connect.
Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
Troubleshooting:
can load using IP.
The technical guys (3rd party suppliers) insist they have not made any changes. My team have not made any changes.
The domain is still valid (it renews tomorrow)
The domain is used for the DEV environment with DEV as a prefix hosted on another VM.
Looking at firewall rules, all the rules with the proper tags appear to be set up correctly for HTTPS with appropriate IP (0.0.0.0) and port 80.
Many thanks in advance for your help. When I find the answer, I will post it here.
RESOLVED:
ROOT CAUSE:
During setup on GCP, the team forgot to link the reserved external IP address to the VM. As such, the external IP address was ephemeral so after a reboot of the server, Google issued a new external IP for the VM.
SOLUTION:
Reserve a static external IP Address and link it to the VM or promote an existing ephemeral external IP Address.

How to access my localhost website from my phone?

Good day to all,
I am trying to create my website locally, and perhaps access the website through my phone from the localhost. Forgive me I am just a beginner.
So I used ipconfig -all to find my IPV4 address and it was e.g
192.168.1.102
And on the ASP.net webapplication I ran, the address was:
https://localhost:44337
Hence, I was trying to access this Web Application of mine created on my PC, to be accessed on my phone. On my phone, I entered the address:
192.168.1.102:44337
I went into my firewall setting to add a new rule for inbound connection to allow all ports to be connected as well. But it still don't work. Both my PC and phone is connected to the same wifi.
Does anyone know the fix? Thank you in advance.
You might have to configure an IIS server. This tool comes default in Windows (professional?), and there's lots of good resources on how to do this, all of which do a better job of explaining the process than I could do.
Essentially, you will need to:
Publish your site (Done through visual studio or cli)
Enable and configure your IIS
Create a new website in the IIS manager and point it towards the output of your web app publish
After opening the neccessary firewall ports, check to see in which IP address your web application is running. I am assuming you are using some sort of HTTP webserver software like IIS(windows) or Apache(Linux). In IIS to do that you must go to your site bindings and where it says "IP Address", select "All Unassigned" (NOT localhost or 127.0.0.1)so that the web application runs in all network adapters and IP addresses.
See full IIS documentation here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/iis/get-started/getting-started-with-iis/getting-started-with-the-iis-manager-in-iis-7-and-iis-8
Follow the guide: https://medium.com/#manujsdeveloper/debug-a-website-local-or-remote-hosted-on-an-android-mobile-device-ff2c43527be1
You will need to set your phone in developer mode and get the OEM USB driver specific for your phone. and get a ADB running on your computer
I suggest supplement your knowledge with with links below, as some things are left out in the above guide and vice versa:

IIS ASP.NET application responds to IP but not to domain name

I've got a problem with IIS. I got a ASP.NET application there running and I am able to connect to it from local network (http://192.168.100.121:12002/) and from outer network too (185.91.165.134:12002 , connecting via phone, because router doesn't support this feature).
The thing is when I try to connect via a domain name queue.laststep.eu, it says error: timed out.
I've asked my friend to tracert this domain name and it finished at the router the server is connected to, so I suppose DNS is configured properly.
Does anyone got an idea what may be blocking inbound traffic? (Firewall is off, ports on our primary router are forwarded...)
I am attaching a screenshot of the site bindings(got to put it on 3rd party server due to low reputation... https://imgur.com/a/hTvqivY)
Thank you for help!

How to view webpage on my server from another computer?

I have a web application I have developed on a server on my home computer. Is it possible to access that web page from another computer on my home network?
My naive approach was just enter my ip address followed by the port number :8888 which the server is listening on...
Any help would be great thank you.
I don't know if it will help but you can use an ssh connection to your computer. But you need to do it from a shell (from terminal on a mac, use putty on a PC)
In the end it was easier to set up remote access to the server by setting up port-forwarding on my router and using no-ip for DNS management. They have a decent walkthrough to get it all up and running. So i simply have to type in my-address.no-ip.org to access my site from any remote device.
Otherwise the links to questions on superuser that Sampo posted are worth a try.
