I would like to set default settings for style and hide on screen settings within the field group settings.
I've found posts talking about modifying settings for individual ACF fields like the WYSIWYG or image fields like so.
add_filter( 'acf/get_valid_field', 'change_post_content_type');
function change_post_content_type( $field ) {
if($field['type'] == 'wysiwyg') {
$field['tabs'] = 'visual';
$field['media_upload'] = 0;
}
if($field['type'] == 'image') {
$field['preview_size'] = 'small';
}
if($field['type'] == 'style') {
$field['style'] = 'seamless';
}
return $field;
}
Using this overrides whatever is selected rather than setting the value as default but it's good enough for what I need.
The image and WYSIWG field work fine but I can't get it working on the field group setting fields. I don't think the $field['type'] == 'style' is correct but as it doesn't follow the same structure as the other fields I don't know what I should be using.
Any ideas?
update
I've found this but I can't figure out how to use it. The following doesn't work
add_action('acf/render_field_group_settings', 'change_field_group_settings', 10, 1);
function change_field_group_settings( $field_group ) {
$field_group['style'] = 'seemless';
$field_group['hide_on_screen'] = array('the_content');
return $field_group;
}
You may need change your syntax to use proper formatting for style and hide_on_screen, for example:
'hide_on_screen' => array(
0 => 'the_content',
),
Best practice would be to create a new Field Group in your WP CMS, publish it, and navigate to:
Custom Fields > Tools > (check the box for your Field Group) > Generate PHP
That way you can view the proper output.

I want to be able to hide certain Wordpress Post Categories from Users dependent on their Role.
I've tried the code here:
Wordpress: Hide specific categories from User Role on the Add New page
I think its deprecated, and would really appreciate some help
add_filter('list_terms_exclusions', 'yoursite_list_terms_exclusions', 10, 2);
function yoursite_list_terms_exclusions( $exclusions, $args ) {
global $pagenow;
if (in_array($pagenow,array('post.php','post-new.php')) && !current_user_can('see_special_cats')) {
$exclusions = " {$exclusions} AND t.slug NOT IN ('slug-one','slug-two')";
}
return $exclusions;
}
With this code nothing happens. I've tried 10+ different plugins and am really getting desperate. Thanks in advance.
add_filter('list_terms_exclusions', 'yoursite_list_terms_exclusions', 10, 2);
function yoursite_list_terms_exclusions( $exclusions, $args ) {
global $pagenow;
if (in_array($pagenow,array('post.php','post-new.php')) &&
!current_user_can('see_special_cats')) {
$exclusions = " {$exclusions} AND t.slug NOT IN ('slug-one','slug-two')";
}
return $exclusions;
}
This code presumes that you've used a plugin like the Members plugin to create a capability called 'see_special_cats' and that you've assigned it to every role that you want to have access to the categories except of course 'Contributors'.
Since you found the plugin you may not need this, but maybe it will help someone else.
add_filter('list_terms_exclusions', 'yoursite_list_terms_exclusions', 10, 2);
function yoursite_list_terms_exclusions( $exclusions, $args ) {
$current_user = wp_get_current_user();
// Change 'see_special_cats' to capability user must have to be able see category or categories
if ( $current_user->has_cap('see_special_cats') ) {
$capCheck = 1;
} else {
$capCheck = 0;
}
global $pagenow;
if (in_array($pagenow,array('post.php','post-new.php')) && !$capCheck) {
// Change category-slug-one and two to desired categories to hide. Additional categories may be added
// by separating with a comma. Delete ", 'category-slug-two'" to only hide one category
$exclusions = " {$exclusions} AND t.slug NOT IN ('category-slug-one', 'category-slug-two')";
}
return $exclusions;
}
This code works without using current_user_can(). Paste this code in your functions.php file. If you want to hide a category from everyone except for the Administrator role, as set up by the default hierarchical structure, change 'see_special_cats' to 'create_users'. Change category-slug-one and category-slug-two to the category slugs that you want hidden. There is no additional plugin required (I'm not sure where 'see_special_cats' comes from).
Maybe someone are able to help me. I want to change product attribute URL from pa_ to something else. (for example http://website.com/?pa_color=black to ?product_color=black.)
Any solution guys?
Best Regards
The functionality that allows you to use a custom base in your url instead of the pa_ in your product attribute are no longer standard with WooCommerce.
You will have to first make sure that you have set your taxonomy permalinks to the bases you would like the product urls to have. If you go into WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalink menu you can change the categories, terms and attributes to whatever makes the most sense for your product. By changing these preferences you can use a custom base on your products (be sure not to repeat bases within the taxonomy, this will create a conflict).
You will then need to add the following code to your theme's functions.php file:
// Change attribute rewrite rules
add_action('woocommerce_register_taxonomy', 'razorfrog_woo_register_taxonomy');
function razorfrog_woo_register_taxonomy() {
global $razorfrog_woo_attribute_labels;
$razorfrog_woo_attributes_labels = array();
if ( $attribute_taxonomies = wc_get_attribute_taxonomies() ) {
foreach ( $attribute_taxonomies as $tax ) {
if ( $name = wc_attribute_taxonomy_name( $tax->attribute_name ) ) {
$razorfrog_woo_attribute_labels[ $tax->attribute_label ] = $tax->attribute_name;
add_filter('woocommerce_taxonomy_args_'.$name, 'razorfrog_woo_taxonomy_args');
}
}
}
}
function razorfrog_woo_taxonomy_args($taxonomy_data) {
global $razorfrog_woo_attribute_labels;
if (isset($taxonomy_data['rewrite']) && is_array($taxonomy_data['rewrite']) && empty($taxonomy_data['rewrite']['slug'])) {
$taxonomy_data['rewrite']['slug'] = $razorfrog_woo_attribute_labels[ $taxonomy_data['labels']['name'] ];
}
return $taxonomy_data;
}
Hope this helps!
I've successfully created a custom view template for my Drupal 7 site but am having issues adding attributes to the content which is outputted. I've searched high and low for the answer to this but to no avail.
I have a view called: views-view-fields--homepage-articles.tpl.php
I am printing content like :
$fields['title']->content
This is fine and expected, and outputs:
Title
But I want to add classes to it - how? I'm thinking I need to write a hook, but I cannot find this documented anywhere. At the moment my solution is a string replace:
<?php print str_replace('<a ', '<a class="brand-blue uppercase nodecoration"', $fields['title']->content); ?>
As you can imagine, this is not a satisfactory or long-term solution.
Many thanks!
You should be able to add the classes to the field using template_preprocess_views_view_fields().
Edit: Couldn't do it the way I thought, but you can overwrite the output of the field like so:
function MY_THEME_preprocess_views_view_fields(&$vars) {
$view = $vars['view'];
if ($view->name == 'node_listing') {
foreach ($vars['fields'] as $id => $field) {
if ($id == 'title') {
$field_output = l($view->result[$view->row_index]->node_title, 'node/'. $view->result[$view->row_index]->nid, array('attributes' => array('class' => 'brand-blue uppercase nodecoration')));
$vars['fields'][$id]->content = $field_output;
}
}
}
}
Have you tried using Semantic Views? https://drupal.org/project/semanticviews - that way you can override the classes within the UI instead of template files, may suit your needs better.
In some Wordpress Posts I want to show the featured thumbnail image shown:
fearless_post_thumbnail(); //located in content.php of template
But in some posts I want to hide that thumbnail, In that case I would like to create a custom
field (hide_thumb = 1 )
in posts where I want to hide it:
Question: Which condition should I wrap around:
fearless_post_thumbnail(); // it shows thumbnail.
Thank you
not sure I understand your question, but it sounds like you want to do this:
if ( $hide_thumb != 1 ) {
fearless_post_thumbnail();
}
If your custom field, $hide_thumb, is set to TRUE or 1, then your thumbnail function will not execute.
The other answer here assumed you had already retrieved the value of of your custom field. As per http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_post_custom,
$custom_fields = get_post_custom();
$hide_thumb = $custom_fields['hide_thumb'];
if ( $hide_thumb[0] != 1) {
fearless_post_thumbnail();
}
On my Drupal powered website, I want to list available downloads at the top of a node page (within a narrow float:right <div>), not at the bottom where they normally appear.
Within my theme, I've overridden the theme_upload_attachments() function to generate a <div> of width 40%, but this is showing up at the bottom of the page.
Within the upload.module file is code that controls where the attachments are listed on the page:
// function upload_nodeapi(), line #284 of upload.module
$node->content['files'] = array(
'#value' => theme('upload_attachments', $node->files),
'#weight' => 50,
);
If I manually hack this #weight to -1, my custom list of attachments shows where I want, floating at the righthand side of the top of the content area.
However, I don't want to manually hack the core file upload.module, as my changes will be lost next time I apply an upgrade (say, for a security patch).
How/Where do I modify the #weight of content['files'] within my theme code?
Or, am I going about this the wrong way?
You'll need a module to do this, not just a theme. A module can implement hook_nodeapi(), which will give it a chance to change the contents of that $node->content array before it's rendered. If your module is named 'upload_tweaker' for example, you'd use the following function:
function upload_tweaker_nodeapi(&$node, $op) {
if ($op == 'view') {
$node->content['files']['#weight'] = -1;
}
}
Each module gets a crack at changing the node during this 'nodeapi' event; if you want to change the stuff that's added by one module, you need to make sure that your module loads after it. This can be done by naming it something like 'zzz', or by changing its "weight" field in the system table of your site's database. Modules can be weighted just like form elements.
api.drupal.org has more information.
For those who uses CCK and want to alter body weight:
CCK module uses pre_render function
/**
* Pre-render callback to adjust weights of non-CCK fields.
*/
function content_alter_extra_weights($elements) {
if (isset($elements['#content_extra_fields'])) {
foreach ($elements['#content_extra_fields'] as $key => $value) {
// Some core 'fields' use a different key in node forms and in 'view'
// render arrays. Check we're not on a form first.
if (!isset($elements['#build_id']) && isset($value['view']) && isset($elements[$value['view']])) {
$elements[$value['view']]['#weight'] = $value['weight'];
}
elseif (isset($elements[$key])) {
$elements[$key]['#weight'] = $value['weight'];
}
}
}
return $elements;
}
So due to this callback you are not able to alter weight using normal behavior.
You should do this:
function YOUR_MODULE_nodeapi(&$node, $op, $a3 = NULL, $a4 = NULL) {
// Only for node pages.
if ($op == 'view' && $a4) {
$body_weight = 15 // Any weight.
$node->content['#content_extra_fields']['body']['weight'] = $body_weight; // This value CCK module will use to alter body weight in the callback from above.
}
}
