I'm creating PDF from HTML using weasyprint. I have a content that has dynamic number of pages.
I can start a new page after it with style="page-break-before: always;".
How do I make this new page yellow?
I would use #page :nth(3) { background: yellow; } if I new it was third page. But I don't know the length of the content before.
Maybe something like <page> could be styled?
Thanks!
Found in samples! You can use page css property to name target page.
#page mypagename{
background: yellow;
}
#element-on-styled-page{
page: mypagename;
}
I am generating a PDF using nodejs with pdf-creator-node and I got success.
My requirement is I need to generate a PDF with Height X Width = 926px X 1296px.
I don' know what css I should write to generate this dimension pdf.
right now if I set div or body height and widht with above mentioned dimension I am getting 3 pages
this is what I tried
#page {
width: 1296px;
height: 926px;
}
<div
class="parent-div"
style="
width: 1296px;
height: 926px;
background-color: #faf0e6;
border: 1px solid red;
"
></div>
jsPDF is able to use plugins. In order to enable it to print HTML, you have to include certain plugins and therefore have to do the following:
Go to https://github.com/MrRio/jsPDF and download the latest
Version.
Include the following Scripts in your project:
jspdf.js
jspdf.plugin.from_html.js
jspdf.plugin.split_text_to_size.js
jspdf.plugin.standard_fonts_metrics.js
If you want to ignore certain elements, you have to mark them with an ID, which you can then ignore in a special element handler of jsPDF. Therefore your HTML should look like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>
<p id="ignorePDF">don't print this to pdf</p>
<div>
<p><font size="3" color="red">print this to pdf</font></p>
</div>
</body>
</html>
Then you use the following JavaScript code to open the created PDF in a PopUp:
var doc = new jsPDF();
var elementHandler = {
#ignorePDF': function (element, renderer) {
return true;
}
};
var source = window.document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0];
doc.fromHTML(
source,
15,
15,
{
'width': 180,'elementHandlers': elementHandler
});
doc.output("dataurlnewwindow");
**For me this created a nice and tidy PDF that only included the line 'print this to pdf'.
Please note that the special element handlers only deal with IDs in the current version, which is also stated in a GitHub Issue. It states:**
Because the matching is done against every element in the node tree, my desire was to make it as fast as possible. In that case, it meant "Only element IDs are matched" The element IDs are still done in jQuery style "#id", but it does not mean that all jQuery selectors are supported.
Therefore replacing '#ignorePDF' with class selectors like '.ignorePDF' did not work for me. Instead you will have to add the same handler for each and every element, which you want to ignore like:
var elementHandler = {
#ignoreElement': function (element, renderer) {
return true;
},
#anotherIdToBeIgnored': function (element, renderer) {
return true;
}
};
From the examples it is also stated that it is possible to select tags like 'a' or 'li'. That might be a little bit too unrestrictive for the most use cases though:
We support special element handlers. Register them with a jQuery-style ID selector for either ID or node name. ("#iAmID", "div", "span" etc.) There is no support for any other type of selectors (class, of the compound) at this time.
One very important thing to add is that you lose all your style information (CSS). Luckily jsPDF is able to nicely format h1, h2, h3, etc., which was enough for my purposes. Additionally, it will only print text within text nodes, which means that it will not print the values of textareas and the like. Example:
<body>
<ul>
<!-- This is printed as the element contains a textnode -->
<li>Print me!</li>
</ul>
<div>
<!-- This is not printed because jsPDF doesn't deal with the value attribute -->
<input type="textarea" value="Please print me, too!">
</div>
</body>
I need to know if I can modify content on the last page with the :last selector.
I'm not sure if it exists, I see it being used in other stackoverflow answers like this: Footer on last printed page.
But I can't find it in the documentation and it does not work when I try to use it.
I'm trying to clear the content on the footer of my last page like this:
#page {
#bottom-right {
content: "Please turn over";
}
}
#page :last {
#bottom-right {
content: none;
}
}
It works when I use it with the :firstselector. How can I get the effect for the last page?
I'm using Weasyprint to print PDF files.
This can be achieved using named pages.
Create an element on the last page (or use an existing one that will appear on the last page) and assign it a last-page class.
Example below:
HTML
<div class="last-page"></div> <!-- Or add this class to an existing element that appears on the last page -->
CSS
.last-page {
page: last_page;
page-break-before: always; /* Use if your last page is blank, else omit. */
}
#page {
#bottom-right {
content: "Please turn over";
}
}
#page last_page {
#bottom-right {
content: none;
}
}
Tested with Weasyprint - worked a charm.
Based on the CSS3 Page docs it appears the :last pseudo-class was removed (or never included).
It might be possible to target the last page using the :blank pseudo-class if you can force a page break at the end of your document. This might have unwanted effects on other blank pages though.
I am currently developing a table using dhtmlx grid. I need to achieve the below table construction. I tried many way to achieve this but I wasn't able to apply the colspan and collapse for the same td element in the header.
Please check the attachment and help me to get the exact output.
Such output is not available using the column_collapse extension.
But you can place any html content in your header and hide the required columns on clicking it.
As a draft:
function hiding(){
if (!collapse){
myGrid.setColumnHidden(2,true)
myGrid.setColumnHidden(3,true)
myGrid.setColumnHidden(4,true)
document.getElementById("collapse").value="show"
collapse=true
}
else
{
myGrid.setColumnHidden(3,true)
myGrid.setColumnHidden(2,false)
myGrid.setColumnHidden(3,false)
myGrid.setColumnHidden(4,false)
document.getElementById("collapse").value="hide"
collapse=false
}
}
myGrid.setHeader("<input type='button' id='collapse' value='hide' onclick='(arguments[0]||window.event).cancelBubble=true;hiding()'>,#cspan,#cspan,#cspan,#cspan");
myGrid.attachHeader("1,2,3,4,5")
I wrote some dummy css. Instead of a tag I got escaped characters. How can I add a div tag instead?
.HeaderName:after{
content: "<div class=\"Name2\">text</div>";
}
.Name2 {
color: red;
}
The content declaration cannot add tags to the page (tags are structural); additionally, CSS is meant for presentation changes, not structural content changes.
Consider using jQuery, instead, such as:
$(".HeaderName").after("your html here");
If you need that extra tag only to make the added text red, just do this:
.HeaderName:after{
content: "text";
color:red;
}
Tested on Chrome.
You can't insert tags using content: in CSS. Here is the relevant part of the spec; see the 'content' property in the CSS 2.1 spec.
