Is there a way to make collapsible panels in Xamarin.Forms without purchasing it? I think, a template in a listview would not do, as the content of the panels will be different. I realize I can just make elements ivisible/visible, but if there is nothing better, I would appreciate an example that would look nice.
You can use syncfusion controls, check on this free license maybe it fits for you,

I am using Xamarin.Forms and trying to achieve the next layout:
I want to keep the native look and feel for each platform (i.e: iOS tabs will be shown in bottom.), I just want to add an extra image on top of the tabbed view. I have been looking around and can't find any one providing a way for this to work. I just want to make sure and ask if this is actually doable in Xamarin.Forms while maintaining native look and feel for all platforms?
Is not possible (using Xamarin Forms) to do this. TabbedPage is a Control that fills the entire display.
Here there is a interesting discussion about "TabView".
I think you can use some other controls to try to do the same thing. For example, buttons + CarouselView.
Otherwise on GitHub there are some guys that have tried to implement what you need.. TabView
im looking for a free version of the following http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/dock/examples/overview/defaultcs.aspx and wondered if anyone knew of anything that existed something that you can drag and snap panels in to other panels then save the layout of these panels preferably to a database. If they is no free versions anyone can think of (i have looked and cannot find anything :/ ) how easy would it be to program such a Ajax or asp control? and how could i go about doing so?

yes, ASP.NET already has this through its web parts. It's pretty similar to this control. The Telerik one looks nicer, but the web parts controls already have most of the features that Telerik offers.
You can also customize them too.

Look at jQuery UI. Specifically their interactions area: http://jqueryui.com/demos/ It's real easy to implement.
The part you will need to supply is the storage of where everything goes.
We use their drag and drop, I didn't even know Telerik had one although we have Telerik all over our projects.
I use the HTML Editor from ASP.NET Ajax AjaxControlToolkit http://www.asp.net/ajax/ajaxcontroltoolkit/Samples/HTMLEditor/HTMLEditor.aspx.

So the default buttons are much overpowered for my users.
Is there a way to reduce the ajax HTMLEditor to this few buttons?
Or is there another controle you can help me with?
You haven't said which one you're using. I would recommend using TinyMCE: http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/
It will be easy to achieve what you want with it.
The best way to achieve this is to take advice from Ed Pitt, I did it this way and I was able to create different versions with different tools. The basic premise is to copy the HTMLEditor.Samples.cs file from the AJAX Control Toolkit source into your app and modify it to only print out the toolbars you want:

Does Qt support ribbon control?

While there is no dedicated Ribbon widget in Qt, you can fashion something similar yourself. You could take a QTabWidget and put some buttons inside (and optionally style it to look a bit more like Microsoft's Ribbon). Depending on what you're trying to accomplish, that might suffice.
One of their sample apps apparently has a ribbon, so it should be do-able.

You can take any JavaScript/JQuery ribbon, insert it into QWebView and do whatever you want with it, using the Qt Webkit Bridge.
There is no Qt ribbon control.
I believe there are license issues preventing Nokia from developing a ribbon control that is similar to Microsofts.
There are free alternatives to QtitanRibbon by now, for example, checkout:

No, it doesn't. I didn't find out any plan to support it in the future.
We use QtitanRibbon, and it works very well for us. Support has been good, documentation on the short side. Worth noting that it not only provides a ribbon UI, it also makes it convenient to implement dark mode (or in our case, we opted for grey mode).
Ok so this is super basic. I just got done implementing the collapsible panel using the MS AJAX Toolkit and was wondering if anyone knew where to get the collapse and expand images that they use in their demo?
One would think these images would be distributed with the toolkit...if so - where are they found? Any recommendations for collapse/expand images in open-source-creative-commons domain?

the images can be found inside the toolkit
if you want to add your custom image you can get them from http://www.iconfinder.net
you can find them if you view the source code on the sample page... no they're not included, though. this is so you can provide your own images.
on a side note, have you tried implementing this functionality using jquery? :)
