I have installed Visual studio 2017 15.5 but i cannot install uno platform extension. it always saying that some prerequisites cannot be resolved.
In the VisualStudio Installer, you need those workloads:
UWP development
Mobile Development with .NET
.NET Core cross-platform development (maybe this one is missing!)

How do i build Xamarin Forms UWP app for ARM64.. is see the ARM but not ARM64. and the xappupload file does not build for ARM64
I have looked around and all i can find are some problems/bug fixes on ARM64, but not how to build it for ARM64, so i'm just lost on what to do. I want my app that is already on store, to be available for my Surface Pro X as well.
How do i build Xamarin.Forms UWP AM64 App?
Please check Windows 10 on ARM official document
Now, Windows 10 desktop can run on machines that are powered by ARM64 processors with the Fall Creators Update or newer. The power-saving nature of the ARM CPU architecture allows these PCs to have all-day battery life and support for mobile data networks.
To build your UWP application to natively target the ARM64 platform, you must have Visual Studio 2017 version 15.9 or later, or Visual Studio 2019. For more information, see this blog post.
We suggest you build your app with Visual studio 2019 latest version that could deploy ARM64 directly.
I'm trying to setup qtcreator using Microsoft Enterprise WDK.
I want to build MSVC and UWP apps, but I do not want to install MS VisualStudio.
Does anyone know howto setup debugger cdb, c and c++ compiler, ... for qtcreator. Since MS EWDK is unzipped in a folder like C:\Dev qtcreator cannot auto-detect it.
I also flipped through the QT documentation, but it is confusing me.
I still have no solution to integrate EWDK into qtcreator.
But there is an alternative to install a "minimum" Microsoft environment for qtcreator:
Install the Visual Studio Build-Tools, which is new as of 2017 and only select the build-tools for C++
Install only the debugger from Windows SDK
1) I did a clean install of Visual Studio 2017 Professional Evaluation copy on a brand new Dell laptop.
2) I tried to import and open a project solution which had been running on another computer with Visual Studio 2015 Professional full copy. Both computers run on Windows 10 Professional and fully updated.
3) Received error from Visual Studio upon solution import which said I could not load the project unless I changed the target of the.NET framework from 4.6.2 to .NET 4.6.1. because the 4.6.2 was not found on my machine.
4) Verified that 4.6.2 was in the registry
5) Tried to download a fresh install of 4.6.2 but it would not install because it also found 4.6.2 on the machine.
6) I also tried to load the project as 4.6.1 and then go in via the properties to change the target to 4.6.2 but had the same results.
Any suggestions as to how I can either get Visual Studio 2017 to recognize the 4.6.2 or uninstall 4.6.2 and reinstall?
The Runtime version and Target versions are different things. You need to run Visual Studio 2017 setup and select .net 4.6.2 SDK/Targeting pack under Individual Components:
They are not selected by default in VS2017. You have to do this for .net 4.7 as well, this is also not installed by default.
You need to download and install the .NetFramework 4.6.2 Developer pack.(https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53321)
Check here. In effect, you need install .NET Framework 4.6.2 Developer Pack

I am developing .net applications on a mac using parallels where I have a windows VM and all my .net tooling.
now that visual studio 2017 can run on mac, would i be able to eliminate my method and run visual studio direct on my mac and seamlessly be able to move my code over to the mac version and compile and develop asp.net web applications?
I am only worried about web applications.
I get the following error when trying to build (Debug > Windows Phone > Device) the default Cordova TypeScript project :
No Windows Phone 8 emulators installed. Please install Visual Studio 2013 with Windows Phone 8 tools selected to install the emulators
Note: I was using the release candiate of Visual Studio 2015 and just installed the trial version of Visual Studio Community 2015.
Installing Visual Studio 2013 Windows Phone 8 tools can't be the correct solution.
I've downloaded and installed wpsdkv80_enu1.iso from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35471. It is Windows Phone SDK 8.0 and Emulator and it's working fine with Visual Studio 2015 Community
If you want to only test universal apps, you don't need to download WP SDK 8.0.
You can debug universal apps directly from VS by switching platform to Windows Phone(universal) and choose Windows 8.1 Emulator. But it expects Emulators for Windows Phone 8.1 to be installed.
If didn't installed Emulators for Windows Phone 8.1 you can do so in Program and Features -> Visual Studio 2015 -> Change.
Thanks for upgrading to the RTM VS 2015. Unfortunately, you do require VS2013 for Windows 8 emulators to be installed. They aren't available on VS 2015 or there is no stand-alone installer for the emulators. But you should be able to deploy your Windows 8 application on Windows 8.1 emulators, if that helps.
Correct me if I'm wrong:
The Windows Phone 8.1 emulators provided by VS2015 are only good
for testing Universal Windows apps (APPX) and nothing else.
Windows Phone 8.1
legacy apps (XAP) can only be emulated by installing the Windows Phone 8.1 Updated Emulators separately.
You won' find this piece of information anywhere on the MS reference sites.
