Clion external tools output not showing anymore? - console

I configured two external tools commands
catkin build my_project
roslaunch my_project my_launch.launch
Now when I invoke command 1 I see the output and everything works. When I launch the second command also everything gets started and works, but I don't see any output. At the beginning I had only command 2 and it did show me my output, then after adding command 1, I didn't get any output anymore. Now I tried to remove command 1 to only have command 2 but I still see no output. What gives?
This is how the command is configured

When running script: "julia -i run/run_nf.jl", the error following error is displayed "Could not determine command"

When I input the command
"julia -i run/run_nf.jl" the error "could not determine command" is shown.
before the error is shown this is how my cd looks like:
After activating the project with the command "activate." The following text is displayed in purple color ""
Finally with the command "julia -i run/run_nf.jl" I run the script "run_nf.jl" that is located on the folder "run". However, instead of running the script the following error is displayed.
The instruction for running and installing the necessary pachages are described in detail here:
Instruction, which I am based to run my script
As #fredrikekre mentioned in the comments, you are trying to run a terminal command from the Julia REPL's PKG mode, which will not work. You have two options:
Run the command from inside the REPL's shell mode by first using the "delete" or "backspace" key to exit out of the Pkg mode (you will see the prompt change) and then typing in ; which switched the REPL to shell mode and then you can run that command.
Same as above in that you need to exit the Pkg mode by clicking the "delete" or "backspace" key on you computer, and then you can run (from the REPL) include("run/run_nf.jl") which will run the file (assuming that is the correct file path).
I will also make a PR to that package you linked above to update the docs to be more clear. Edit, link to PR: https://github.com/dynamicslab/NormalFormAE/pull/7

Send line to console in Notepad++

Is there a way to execute commands line-by-line written in NPP editor in a console.
I have already looked at the following plugins, but they seem to execute a line or chunk of code as a standalone script (i.e. not interactive):
NPPExec;
NPPConsole;
This question is similar to this one:
Run selected line in notepad++ console
but in their case the code is being saved, executed, and stopped. But I would like an interactive console, i.e. it would bring up an instance of shell (or any other console), and I can send line-by-line code from NPP editor.
It sounds like you are looking for behaviour similar to IPython and the Jupyter Notebook or maybe just a regular debugger. I don't know of any plugin that can do that in Notepad++.
If interactive behaviour after initial execution will do (e.g. for inspection of variables), you can achieve that using the interactive flag -i in NppExec like this:
cd $(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)
python -u -i $(FILE_NAME)

Running a python .py file on Jetbrain Pycharm

I write my .py files using Pycharm JetBrains editors. When I run my codes, the output is shown in a console entitled "Run", without any prompt. Therefore, I dont have access to the variables of my code output. How can I force the pycharm to show the output of my codes in ipython console?
You can edit the Run Configuration and check the box "Show command line afterwards". This will run your script, but leave you in an interactive prompt. Everything from your script will have been imported and available.
As a note, if you install the IPython package (Preferences -> Project -> Project Interpreter, click + to add packages) then you can get a nicer console interpreter.
Finally, a different way to accomplish what you are looking for: run under Debug rather than Run. You can set a breakpoint and then use the debugger's Console right at the line you might be interested in.

Trouble with path specifications when running RStudio from a console

I have R script within a plain text file named "TestFile.R".
I am running RStudio. I want to use the Windows console (cmd.exe) to pipe "TestFile.R" directly into the "R Script" editor of RStudio, without launching a new thread of RStudio.
This command in the console does exactly what I want:
rstudio -f TestFile.R
The contents of "TestFile.R" go straight into the RScript editor of the existing thread of RStudio.
It assumes, however, that "TestFile.R" is in the "bin" folder of RStudio, and also that
cmd.exe is running within that folder.
But I want to be able to do this from anywhere on my computer, using a console command like:
pathToRstudio\rstudio -f pathToTestFile\TestFile.R
To give an example, on my computer, this command fails:
C:\"Statistical packages"\RStudio\bin\rstudio -f E:\"my project"\TestFile.R
By trial and error, I discovered these solutions:
1/ omit the "C:\" part
2/ avoid quotation marks in the pathToTestFile.
So this console command works fine:
"Statistical packages"\RStudio\bin\rstudio -f E:\myproject\TestFile.R
Of course, I still am very restricted ; my default folder has to be "C:\", and I cannot have spaces in the path to TestFile.R, even though spaces within the Rstudio path are apparently OK !?
Could somebody please explain to me how to write this command in a way that is completely generic with regard to path specification?
I want to be able to run it from any folder, and have TestFile.R in any other folder. I do not want hassles about folder names containing spaces.

How to use XULRunner to run SQLite Manager outside of Firefox in Mac OS X Lion?

I have installed XULRunner 11.0 (xr) from here:
Downloads - sqlite-manager - Extension for Firefox and other apps to manage any sqlite database - Google Project Hosting
I have followed the steps listed here:
kiveo - Mac SQLite Manager Standalone App
I have read and tried the suggestions here (though they're for version 6.0):
stackoverflow: How to Install and run a XulRunner Application on Mac OS X?
I am able to get the help listing with this command:
/Library/Frameworks/XUL.framework/xulrunner-bin -h
I am able to run the app from Firefox using this command (after changing the max version in sqlitemanager-xr-0/application.ini to 11.0 from 11.0a1):
/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox --app ~/Downloads/sqlitemanager-xr-0/application.ini
Here are the contents of the application.ini file:
[App]
Name=sqlite-manager
ID=SQLiteManager#mrinalkant.blogspot.com
Version=0.7.7
BuildID=201111132204
Vendor=lazierthanthou
Copyright=Copyright (c) 2008 - 2011 lazierthanthou
[Gecko]
MinVersion=2.0
MaxVersion=11.0
[XRE]
EnableExtensionManager=1
When I run the following command in Terminal, with or without sudo, it just immediately returns to the command prompt. There are no error messages. No application appears under Applications. Nothing seems to happen at all. (And, despite the stackoverflow page above noting that --install-app may not really be supported, it is in the XULRunner help listing - which I guess doesn't necessarily mean it'll work ;)
/Library/Frameworks/XUL.framework/xulrunner-bin --install-app Downloads/sqlitemanager-xr-0/ /Applications
Following a suggestion below, I checked for an exit code. The line above is returning 2.
Help?
Just like you did with Firefox, this command should run your app:
/Library/Frameworks/XUL.framework/xulrunner-bin --app ~/Downloads/sqlitemanager-xr-0/application.ini
Also, the --app switch is optional within XULRunner.
Here's how you can make a self-contained application you can run from the Dock.
Use the xulrunner --install-app command to create the application and then copy all contents of XUL.framework/Versions/Current into the generated application at /Applications/sqlite-manager.app/Contents/MacOS.
You can then create a wrapper script that runs the xulrunner within the generated app with the application.ini file as described here.
For example, put the following into sqlite-manager.app/Contents/MacOS/sqlite-manager and make it executable.
#!/usr/bin/env bash
APP_PATH="/Applications/sqlite-manager.app"
"$APP_PATH/Contents/MacOS/xulrunner" --app "$APP_PATH/Contents/Resources/application.ini"
Now you have to tell OS X to run sqlite-manager instead of xulrunner. You can do that by editing sqlite-manager.app/Contents/info.plist and setting CFBundleExecutable to sqlite-manager like this:
<key>CFBundleExecutable</key>
<string>sqlite-manager</string>
The only limitation of this approach is that it breaks when you move the application or rename it. I'd love suggestions on how to get rid of the absolute path within the sqlite-manager script.
try this:
firefox -chrome chrome://sqlitemanager/content/sqlitemanager.xul
or on OS X
/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -chrome chrome://sqlitemanager/content/sqlitemanager.xul
(found on http://www.egeek.me/2013/09/07/how-to-run-sqlite-manager-with-a-single-command/)
works fine for me on UBUNTU 12.04 to start sqlite manager without starting firefox first
If the install was successful, I think the app should be available in some usual place for your system (which wasn't mentioned, but I'm guessing OSX :). Have you looked under /Applications?
To see whether the command failed quietly, you could check its return value. Is there a verbose switch?
$ cd narnia
bash: cd: narnia: No such file or directory
$ echo $?
1
$ cd .
$ echo $?
0
$ cd narnia && echo "success"
bash: cd: narnia: No such file or directory
$ cd . && echo "success"
success
