I'm working on a spring project and i want to add some css to my views
but css files are created (in the webapp folder) as Java source files:
so there is no auto-completion, it is unrecognized as a css file.
Here is how the css file appears:
for anyone who has the same issue you can go to help -> eclipse marketplace search for html and install the tool u need, restart eclipse and it will work.
This tool from Marketplace worked for me. Refer below images.

I use Visual Studio 2019 to develop a web ASP.NET MVC application.
When I debug, or execute my web application, with the browser debugger F12, I can read in the sources menu (view photo) that my pages are based on sccs style sheets located in a scss directory.
How to generated this directory? Why most of the css (coming from bootstrap) are translated into sass files ? Is it due to the package Web.Optimization which generate bundles? I don't understand the process and its utility.
Can someone answer my questions ?
For information, I installed bootstrap 4.5.3 with NuGet, and I noticed that several files where created in"Content" directory in the project explorer (bootstrap-grid.css.map, bootstrap-reboot.css.map, etc). So I think bootstrap is maybe the reason of scss files like _reboot.scss).
Scss files are translated (by engine Sass) into css. Only that files browser can understand.
I think files from picture are just in public folder.
(*.map, *.min.css, etc) files are optional.
In Bootstrap documentation is written:
compiled and minified CSS and JS (bootstrap.min.). CSS source maps (bootstrap..map) are available for use with certain browsers' developer tools
https://getbootstrap.com/docs/3.4/getting-started/#whats-included-precompiled
The minimized files are size optimized and maps are helpful for developer tools use.
Thanks Apan.
Finally, I can keep only the 2 files bootstrap.css and the js, because MVC minimizes them with bundling process.
i am developing dynamic web project with bootstrap templates every thing is working fine even view is rendering perfect.
in home.jsp file in which i have link css(bootstrap files & my customized files) file
<link rel="stylesheet" href="<c:url value="/resources/bootstrap/css/bootstrap.min.css"/>">
but in my code when i press ctrl+space it does not show me suggestion for css classes in
<div class="..">
i am using eclipse neon please help me thank
Depending on which Eclipse package you installed you may already have the CSS and HTML editors. If you don't then you can install them using Help > Install New Software. Choose the software site for your version of Eclipse in the drop down list and look at the Web, XML, Jave EE and OSGi Enterprise Development section. The Eclipse Web Developer Tools section contains the editors you want but the other sections may also be of interest.
And if this plugin for eclipse will work for you
Researching this a bit and reading over your comments it seems that you are using Eclipse with the Aptana extension. If you absolutely do not need to use the Eclipse environment you could now download the Aptana Studio 3 which is based on Eclipse. It looks just like eclipse but is Aptana. Now instead of entering this and looking for Aptana plugins you are going to go into Aptana and look for eclipse plugins. I've installed this myself and have installed several plugins that handle all sorts of things such as javascript code completion, source code formatting etc.
If you go to this site http://www.aptana.com/ you can download the software there. To get all of the plugins, you can do use this site to guide you through some terrific source code completion utilities as well as others. http://jebaird.com/2012/11/02/useful-plugins-for-aptana-studio-3.html
I have been developing a JavaFX application and when going to skin and style my application I can find how to create a css file. I have e(fx)clipse downloaded and eclipse and e(fx)clipse are both the newest versions. I have searched google and cant find anything. To create a JavaFX project file you simply go to File > New > other > and navigate to JavaFX Project. With this project it creates a css file in the package it creates. But there is no option to create a stand alone css file. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Basically the css you will use in javaFX in an ordinary .css file so:
1)Right click on src folder
2)New->File->(Give it a name).css->Finish
But:
That is the way to create a css file in Eclipse. For some reason eclipse shows some warnings into css even if e(fx)clipse is installed.
I have recently upgraded to VS2012 and have a small issue. All our sass files are checked into source control and the corresponding css file gets generated when the project is built (the css file is never part of source control). with VS2012, as soon as i edit the sass file, a css file is created under the sass file (nested under it) and the project file is checked out. I do not want this as we don't need to check in the css file.
Is there an option i can set to avoid this ? Had a quick look under tools ->options but didnt see anything
The only plugin we have installed is Mindscape Web Workbench free version.
Thank you for any advice.
So the Web Workbench plugin was automatically modifying the project file and including the following under my scss files. This was still present even when i disabled and removed the plugin. There's no option to disable this function in Web Workbench, so i wont be using it anymore.
<Compile>True</Compile>
<Minify>True</Minify>
<CompileStyle>Nested</CompileStyle>
<DebugInfo>False</DebugInfo>
Using SassyStudio now which is nice and simple.Has the option to disable auto css creation and project adding etc.
Hope this explanation can help someone else.
this might seem like a dumb question but I just don't get this to work with Aptana 3.
I installed the Aptana 3 plugins and Scala IDE into classic Eclipse 3.7.
Now in my HTML files there are links to resource files like CSS, JS, etc. I would like to be able to CTRL+click on such a link to open the file in another editor tab.
I just verified that Aptana 2 supports this without additional configuration.
Is this possible with version 3. If yes, what do I have to do in order to make it work?
Thanks.
Ok you can tear me apart ;)
ctrl+shift+R then type resource file name
