The Here SDK for android contains callback methods (MapEngine.OnMapDownloadListener) indicating when a tile(s) is being downloaded, how do I do this in iOS?

I'm trying to implement push notification on my PWA, until now everything works well except the sound.
I saw sound is supported in this Google Tutorial about Push Notification, but later on the same page, it states that no browser supports it right now and the article doesn't have a post date.
So just wondering where can I find an update to date update about the support for sound in Push Notification for PWA?

I am trying to implement server for FCM to send notifications to android/iOS devices.
I need to send data-only notifications to both android and iOS but iOS seems very unstable for background notifications. (even though the app is in foreground, I often not get message at all.)
When I test with legacy FCM REST server with FCM direct channel, it works great on iOS but this is not an option for me as newer Admin SDK doesn't support direct channel.
Is there any reason to remove support for FCM direct channel in newer Admin SDK? I see all Firebase docs recommend to use Admin SDK but not sure why they removed the support for direct channel.
If I'm not mistaken FCM sender-side APIs never explicitly supported a direct channel option. As a sender your options were to either specify a device registration token or a topic. These options are present in the newer FCM sender-side APIs (i.e. Admin SDK) as well.
Direct channel is a receiver-end option. I see this option was recently deprecated in the iOS SDK. Folks who work on that repo should be able to provide you more context around that decision. Also if you're experiencing issues with background notifications on iOS I'd recommend you file a bug for the iOS SDK, and try to get it fixed.
I asking this question for clarification about push notification in xamarin. I have a xamarin.forms app which will display certain items in list view.The back-end of my app is in .Net. The items which shows in list view inside app is added from back-end.What I am trying to achieve is whenever items add in back-end, I want to receive notification in my app.

From my experience the easiest way for me was to use firebase console to manage notifications both for Android and iOS. I have similar platform that uses push notifications to users whenever webapp database is updated, by certain users. To my disappointment Azure Push were more complicated to manage.

Yes. Apple developer account is mandatory. Moreover you cannot test your push notifications on iOS emulator. You must use physical device.
App Center Push is what I've started using now. Push services are free (which is great) and they have Xamarin SDKs which handle most of the platform specific config so it's really quick to get push working.
As the other answer has stated, you will still need an apple developer account and physical device to test on iOS.
It's part of the the Microsoft App Center offering which provides many other useful services for mobile development.
#groveale App Center Push feature is being retired(https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/appcenter/push/) so I would suggest using firebase or the implementation provided by xamarin docs.
I'm using the following plugin for implementing and handling FCM push notifications in my xamarin application and there's one little unaddressed problem I'm facing.
I was hoping someone else has already figured it out and could help me.
THE PROBLEM:
It seems to be duplicating my MainActivity although I have the LaunchMode set to SingleTop.
There's an event called OnNotificationReceived that's provided by the library.
This event fires as expected, only once, when the application is in the foreground.
When I minimize the application (let it run in the background), send a notification to the device and tap on the notification, it opens the application, as expected, but if I send another notification after that, while the application is in the foreground, The OnNotificationReceived Event is fired twice.
I've tried changing the NotificationActivityFlags property to SingleTop.
I've tried changing my MainActivity's Launch Mode to SingleTop
I tried running the sample application they've provided to check if its something that I'm doing wrong, and still the same thing happens.
Logging the issue in their Github repository
None of the above have worked.
The issue can be reproduced by:
downloading the sample from the repository, link provided above
replacing their google-services.json file with your own from the Firebase
console.
change the package name of the sample of the application to the one you
have registered on Firebase

Unfortunately, the method below has not proven successful after attempting to implement it, I should have thought of the fact that I'm still going to need the notification object for iOS, earlier.
Myself and the team are going to implement a way to keep track of the users platform on the server and send them a notification either with or without the notification based on their platform, since iOS handles FCM notifications differently from Android. For now we're going to use Google's Instance ID service to determine what platform existing users are on.

I hope this helps someone in the future, if not I hope someone can provide me with a better solution.
In order to have my cake and eat it, basically be able to keep the notification object in the payload instead of removing it and having to further customise the payload to display notifications just for iOS, I changed the MainActivity's (the activity thats launched when a user taps on the notification) Launch mode to SingleInstance. That way I can keep my notification object in the payload and not have to worry about the OnNotificationReceived event being triggered twice.
I am building mobile apps for iOS and Android using PhoneGap Build. I would like to send push notifications to both types of device using the same server-side process. Is this possible?
Apple's certification process to enable push notifications is painful, much more so than anything available for Android. Do I have to use it?
GCM (Google Cloud Messaging) says it supports both operating systems, but the more I read about it - with respect to Phonegap - the less I see iOS mentioned! And sadly the GCM/Phonegap plugin doesn't support subscribing to a topic, which is a way of sending one message out to all devices in one go via a 'global' topic.
UrbanAirship and PushWhoosh seem to integrate with Phonegap, but I am forced to use their website to create my messages. GCM looks more attractive in this respect, because I can get our own ASP.NET server to talk to GCM via HTTP and thus control messages from our databases.
Main question: Are there any options for a single server-side option which can send push notifications to both iOS and Android via a single Phonegap plugin? (Ideally I would control messages from my own server, where one message can go to all Android/iOS devices in one go, and avoid as many Apple certificates as possible.~)
