Summary: I'm doing a web app to manage products in a warehouse. So I have a db with list of products and quantities. I have one page for unload products when they are used. On that page I have a textbox in which users write the note on how the product has been used.
Request: when users type inside the textbox I'd like a popup to appear showing products that contains the entered characters. More than 1 products is possible. Also users enters quantity of the used products, so I'd like that my app can update the db with new value.
For example:
I have a product named "AAA batteries" and I have 10 in stock.
I also have "9V batteries" 5 in stock.
User write "Used 3 AAA batteries and 4 9V batteries"
While typing I'd like popup appear suggesting "AAA batteries" etc.
Then I'd like to update the db subtracting 3 AAA and 4 9V.
It's ok to use delimiter characters
User press a button to save the note (db should be updated at this point)
Is this possible? I'm already using the ajax autocomplete extender but it can't do exactly what I want. I did a lot o searches but I can't find the right direction, can you help me? Thanks

I need to build a webform where one of the questions asks the user to pick a date from a list of 5 dates. Each of the 5 dates only allows 10 attendees. How can I track the number of people that have registered for each date and limit the number of attendees? Thanks for any help.
Go for some custom solution. I.e. create some content type with 5 integer fields where you will keep count of attendees per day.
Then hook that webform (hook_form_alter()) and add another submission handler function, like described here:
Drupal 7 Webform submit hook
In that function (submit handler) read the form values increase counter if it has free space or shoot some message that no more places remained.
I am looking for the best way to store information that is entered within an Oracle ApEx app that is sectioned off like a wizard.
Basically there are a number of fields on the screen, i.e. text box, text area, select list, checkboxes as well as radiogroup buttons but are not attached to any particular database tables.
What I would like to do is basically have the user enter required answers say on one pane, which might have 5 items in total, i.e., 2 textfields, 1 radiogroup, 1 selectlist and 1 checkbox and when they press the "Next>" button before going to the next pane, store these answers into a ApEx Collection against a particular Id and perform the same process on the following pane of answers entered.
I am using Oracle ApEx 4.1.2. Basically want to store away values on the fly and reuse at a later stage.
As I mentioned in my last comment above, Plouf came through with the goods. I didn't require an ApEx Collection after all - regular items did the trick.
Here at work we are converting over to a new payment system which allows only a maximum of 7 characters in the product code. The product codes we are using can and will excede 7 characters (changing would require changing past orders so changing the codes is out of the question).
The product code for us is the event code (ie ccsws2011), the old system allowed us to pass the entire event code in, whereas the new system is limiting us to only 7 characters. I do not want to do a look up table at all. I want to be able to create a product code list for the system (outside the website) and then have the code within the website automatically convert our event code to the product code I created outside the website and pass it to the payment system.
Is there a way to hash our product code into a 7 character product code for the new system?
I.E.:
our product code: ccsws2011
Hashed product code: xxxxxxx
Thanks for your efforts everyone, another value was decided upon to be used for the item code which nullified this issue. Thank you again everyone
I have a question regarding drupal 6 forms.
I have 4 tables:
location[locationid, name];
package[packageid, name],
person[personid, name, locationid, address, etc...]
pickup[pickupid, personid, packageid, locationid, _pickup_day_,...].
I've made forms and form_submit for the three tables: location, package, person (simple CRUD as usual).
Now, I want to make a form to submit data into the "pickup" table. The twist is, the only
data the user needs to input is the "pickup_day" field, which can be 1 or 0 (monday or tuesday).
So I imagine when I go to the pickups url, I'll see a list of output fields:
firstname | lastname | location | pickup day | package type
first1 last1 church1 select box (monday/tuesday) select box (type1/type2/type3)
first2 last2 church1 select box (monday/tuesday) select box (type1/type2/type3)
first3 last3 church1 select box (monday/tuesday) select box (type1/type2/type3)
[submit button]
When its submitted, the data goes into "pickup" table.
I'm trying to figure how to render the select boxes while outputting person's information.
(Just an aside, would it be possible to have a search before seeing the form...for example I search for
location to be church1, then I'll see all the users at that location in a form as above)
All help is very much appreciated...even pointing to a module that does something similar to this is fine...
I just need to get some hints on how people have approached this. Much thanks!
End goal:
So, basically, I have a number of people in my database. Each person is assigned a location where they can go and pickup food. I want to record each pickup for each week for each person. So I have a pickups table to do that. So I'm trying to make a single form (pickups), where I can go to and update who picked up what...on what day (Monday or Tuesday). But so in this form, I need to show all the people registered for a particular location. So lets say a person is registered for a church called Church 1...I want to search for the Church 1 location, then all the people who are registered for that location comes up row by row. Then I can select which day each person picked up food and what type of food they picked up...and click submit. Then I'll run a query against my database to add this information.
The big deal I guess is that instead of making a form for each person (for each row), I just make one form and when the form is submitted everyone will be added to the "pickup" table with the appropriate day and item they picked up.
I would suggest you look at the form API's built-in AHAH support. You can find more information here: http://api.drupal.org/api/drupal/developer--topics--forms_api_reference.html/6#ahah. Assuming I understand your question correctly, this is a fairly typical ajax/ahah form situation; an element in your form triggers the creation of new form elements.
For example, you can create a select box of locations. Once a location is selected (#ahah['event'] => 'change'), you can make a callback to a menu location (#ahah['path'] => path/to/callback) which can generate the new form elements to add, in this case select boxes for the persons and/or packages associated with that location.
You could also do something similar using search instead of a select element.
Does anyone know how to retrieve and display data from database using combo list? What I mean is this..I have a form..in the form there is a combo list and two textfiels..the user need to choose their company using that combo list..once they have chose their company, the address and contact number of the company will be display in the next two textfields called CAddress and CContact..for example, if the user chose company ABC..how can I display the company ABC address and contact number in those textfields? Need help. Thanks.
first of all you could use javascript and make a call ajax to an asp page passing the id of the company ... in that page you can jsut response.write the infos u need as a xml format ... even csv format would work ... then jsut take the response and write it in the textbox
