I have a question regarding drupal 6 forms.
I have 4 tables:
location[locationid, name];
package[packageid, name],
person[personid, name, locationid, address, etc...]
pickup[pickupid, personid, packageid, locationid, _pickup_day_,...].
I've made forms and form_submit for the three tables: location, package, person (simple CRUD as usual).
Now, I want to make a form to submit data into the "pickup" table. The twist is, the only
data the user needs to input is the "pickup_day" field, which can be 1 or 0 (monday or tuesday).
So I imagine when I go to the pickups url, I'll see a list of output fields:
firstname | lastname | location | pickup day | package type
first1 last1 church1 select box (monday/tuesday) select box (type1/type2/type3)
first2 last2 church1 select box (monday/tuesday) select box (type1/type2/type3)
first3 last3 church1 select box (monday/tuesday) select box (type1/type2/type3)
[submit button]
When its submitted, the data goes into "pickup" table.
I'm trying to figure how to render the select boxes while outputting person's information.
(Just an aside, would it be possible to have a search before seeing the form...for example I search for
location to be church1, then I'll see all the users at that location in a form as above)
All help is very much appreciated...even pointing to a module that does something similar to this is fine...
I just need to get some hints on how people have approached this. Much thanks!
End goal:
So, basically, I have a number of people in my database. Each person is assigned a location where they can go and pickup food. I want to record each pickup for each week for each person. So I have a pickups table to do that. So I'm trying to make a single form (pickups), where I can go to and update who picked up what...on what day (Monday or Tuesday). But so in this form, I need to show all the people registered for a particular location. So lets say a person is registered for a church called Church 1...I want to search for the Church 1 location, then all the people who are registered for that location comes up row by row. Then I can select which day each person picked up food and what type of food they picked up...and click submit. Then I'll run a query against my database to add this information.
The big deal I guess is that instead of making a form for each person (for each row), I just make one form and when the form is submitted everyone will be added to the "pickup" table with the appropriate day and item they picked up.
I would suggest you look at the form API's built-in AHAH support. You can find more information here: http://api.drupal.org/api/drupal/developer--topics--forms_api_reference.html/6#ahah. Assuming I understand your question correctly, this is a fairly typical ajax/ahah form situation; an element in your form triggers the creation of new form elements.
For example, you can create a select box of locations. Once a location is selected (#ahah['event'] => 'change'), you can make a callback to a menu location (#ahah['path'] => path/to/callback) which can generate the new form elements to add, in this case select boxes for the persons and/or packages associated with that location.
You could also do something similar using search instead of a select element.

I'm building an athlete profile database using ACF (Advanced Custom Fields). I have fields for First Name, Last Name, and Full Name. Athletes will be able to enter their first and last names on the front end of the website when they are creating a profile. I don't want them to enter their full name also because that's a bad user experience. But I need the full name on the backend. Is there a way to have the Full Name text field auto-generated by merging the values of First Name and Last Name? I don't want to enter the full name manually. Thanks!
with this kind of thing you are wanting to combine 2 fields into 1 record it may just be easier to ask for the full name in 1 field this is not a bad user experience as much as you may think more people actually find it more annoying needing to put different parts of there name in different boxes.
However if this is what you are wanting to move forward with I did find this which may be of some assistance Wordpress/ACF merging multiple fields value to one
I have a requirement in which I need to show some content along with its count based on values in a select list. I wanted to display the allocated, released and resigned resources of a particular department in a selected date range. Using views, date range and department fields are created as exposed filters.
Created a content type for creating resources. The Resources content type is having action as a select list with values allocated, released, resigned. Department is another select list and date field is also added.
Please help me with an answer if views module is not enough. Provide some other solutions also. I'm using Drupal 7.
I figured out how to show node count in views. In my view I’ve some exposed filters and passed my select list cck field as contextual filter. If no result available I made the view to display summary as row count. In the template file, I’m planning to do some calculations for showing the resources count in and out of the project. Please correct me if there is anything wrong in this approach.
I have a form that submits parameters to a query, then opens the resulting record in another form. The problem is, whenever there is more than one record it automatically puts the first one into the from without any kind of option to choose the record I want. I have a macro set up on the search button on the first form that submits the parameters to the query and then displays it in the second form, I've tried to set up another macro in between the two, but I don't know if it's possible to set up the expression creator to check the number of rows resulting from a query. Is it possible to modify the query to create a prompt to choose which record I want? Or should I change something else?
This is the query:(automatically created by access)
SELECT CHILD.CHILD_L_NAME, CHILD.CHILD_F_NAME, CHILD.DOB, CHILD.GENDER, CHILD.DAYS_IN_CARE,
CHILD.HOURS_PER_DAY, CHILD.ENROLLMENT_DATE, CHILD.CHILD_ADDRESS, CHILD.CHILD_CITY,
CHILD.CHILD_ZIP, CHILD.CHILD_STATE, CHILD.CLASSROOM, CHILD.SNACK, CHILD.LAST_UPDATED, CHILD.CIN
FROM CHILD
WHERE (((CHILD.CHILD_L_NAME)=[Forms]![Search]![L_NAME]) AND
((CHILD.CHILD_F_NAME)=[Forms]![Search]![F_NAME])) OR
(((CHILD.CHILD_L_NAME)=[Forms]![Search]![L_NAME]) AND
((CHILD.DOB)=[Forms]![Search]![DOB])) OR
(((CHILD.DOB)=[Forms]![Search]![DOB])) OR
(((CHILD.CHILD_L_NAME)=[Forms]![Search]![L_NAME]));
If I understood well your problem and you use VBA it's quite easy to do.
You can create a reduced query based on the query you're creating with the button. This new query should include all and only the fields that allows you to discriminate beetwen the records to show in the 2nd form.
For instance it could include LastName, FirstName and classroom to select between children with same full name.
You can count the number of records of this 2nd query and if greater than 1 it means that you have more than one children to show.
So you can use this 2nd query to populate a combo-box or a listbox for selecting the record you really want to show.
When number of records is 1 you can simply skip the listbox population using an if statement on recordcount.
Next step is opening the form with the selected (or unique) record.

Hi all,
I have 3 tables in an access 2010 database:
Crew: CrewID; Name; Adres;...
Voyage: VoyageId; Voyage name; Departure harbour; Arrival harbour
Crewlist: CrewlistId, VoaygeId, CrewId, Rank
The VoaygeId and CrewId from the Crewlist table are linked (relation) to the autonumber ID's from tables 2 and 1.
My first and main question is: Upon boarding everyone has to ‘sign in’ selecting the voyage and there name, and assign them a roll (of to be donde by the responsible officer). How can I make a form that lets the users browse through the voyagenames and crewnames in stead of the ID’s uses in the ‘mother’ table (table 3: Crewlist)
2nd question: how can I make sure that someone isn’t enrolled twice for the same voyage (adding same voyagenumber and same crewId number in crewlist). This would preferably be blocked upon trying to add the same person a second time on a voyage.
To prevent duplicates in Crewlist, add a unique index to the table on both CrewId and VoyageId
It would be a good idea to add relationships and enforce referential integrity
You are now in a position to use the wizards to create a form based on Voyage and a subform based on CrewList with a combobox based on Crew
There are a number of refinements you could add.
Make sure you do not use reserved words like Name and do not put spaces in field names. You will thank yourself later.

I am looking for the best way to store information that is entered within an Oracle ApEx app that is sectioned off like a wizard.
Basically there are a number of fields on the screen, i.e. text box, text area, select list, checkboxes as well as radiogroup buttons but are not attached to any particular database tables.
What I would like to do is basically have the user enter required answers say on one pane, which might have 5 items in total, i.e., 2 textfields, 1 radiogroup, 1 selectlist and 1 checkbox and when they press the "Next>" button before going to the next pane, store these answers into a ApEx Collection against a particular Id and perform the same process on the following pane of answers entered.
I am using Oracle ApEx 4.1.2. Basically want to store away values on the fly and reuse at a later stage.
As I mentioned in my last comment above, Plouf came through with the goods. I didn't require an ApEx Collection after all - regular items did the trick.
