So I've been trying to get into the admin dashboard for a WordPress website that I'm supposed to be working on and for some reason my XAMPP/phpMyAdmin & Avada theme does not seem to be working properly.
When I configured XAMPP it worked fine and could reach the admin dashboard without any issues. But when I replaced the WordPress directory downloaded from the network admin and the .sql database table uploaded into phpMyAdmin I am now noticing that when I access localhost/wp/ it loads a broken page, appears to be missing the CSS (styles/images)
I've tried to navigate to locahost/wp/wp-admin/admin.php and /wp-admin/login.php and I am not able to load the files I continue to receive a "File not found" redir error.
In my own opinion it seems as though the user isn't entirely authenticated and is causing me to redir based on failed authentications OR the system is having difficulties with the folder structure to determine the areas for the "missing" wp-admin files, although I have confirmed they are physically residing within that expected location which only further confuses me.
I can upload and attach any type of document, just let me know what type of information you are looking for to assist in troubleshooting.

2) you may have problems with .htaccess and .sql file permalinks. Ask people at the mentioned forum.
Step 1 : Remove htaccess file from your root folder
Step 2 : check wp_option table and change site_url and home_url
Step 3 : Login into wp-admin using
http://localhost:8080/mysite/wp-admin/
Step 4 Goto setting ->paramlink and update using custom structure.
That's it.Problem solve.

Kindly clarify your question, you updated one of the pages in your WordPress site or did you update WordPress to the latest version and got an error afterwards when trying to log in within the admin dashboard?
If it is a page you can't access, try disabling your plugins and see if it will be accessible. You can also try to enable WP_Debug to true from within the wp-config.php within your back-end file manager and see if the exact issue will be displayed so as to assist you with further troubleshooting.
Alternatively, if the issue arising is due to a WordPress update to the latest version, you can try renaming the plugins folder temporary from within your backend as a form of troubleshooting, if that fails, temporary rename your theme (/wp-content/themes/theme_name) to try and pinpoint the exact issue. All this can be done with the WordPress folder from cPanel, file manager.
If the above fails, go a step further and try doing stuff like PHP memory increase, post_max_size &c.
If all the above fails, refer to WordPress documentation on how to do a manual WordPress update and hopefully, the issue will be fixed.
Note: The above is just an insight of what you can look into and not a step by step guide to fixing the issue.
So I was given this file and was asked to integrate PayPal using WooComerce. but I can't seem to access the wp dashboard. Here's what I've done
Created a database in phpmyadmin using XAMPP, stored the files in my htdocs, and then imported an SQL file to the database, the website page loads on my localhost, but when I type http://localhost/mysite/wp-login.php or even http://localhost/mysite/wp-admin, and I enter the correct credentials, the login page just refreshes.
I have tried
clearing cache and cookies
removing .htaccess files
renamed plugins folder
But none of them seemed to work, the page just kept refreshing. I've even tried opening it in incognito mode because I heard it may help but it didn't. Please let me know if there's anything I missed or if any further information is required.
if anyone faces this issue, You should access the database file and go to wp_options and change the url there to match your localhost. You can add an admin command in your theme functions.php file as well after doing that to add more users.

After googling I found out it has to do with mod_security. I tried every approach to fix it: changed my plugin folder name, tried disabling mod_security with .htaccess but the error remains the same.
Are there other alternatives that I could take?
Difficult question! To be honest, I wouldn't try to fix it. I would suggest copying files and database to a local WordPress. If everything is running on you local machine, I would delete the WordPress server version and install a new WordPress and copy the database and all the files.
If you think of the hours, you try to fix it instead of copy the whole WordPress and install a new one.
please delete you .htaccess file from the root directory and try to login into wp-admin. Once login gets successfully then regenerate the .htaccess file.
For regenerate the .htaccess file you need to follow the below steps:
Go to setting -> permalink -> change permalink into default.
And save the setting.
After save setting then change permalink into the post.
Now you can see that the .htaccess file gets generated successfully.
I'm trying to install WordPress for local use with XAMPP. I started off by installing and unzipping both the XAMPP and WordPress folders. I placed the XAMPP folder in my C:/ drive and my WordPress folder within the "htdocs" folder. After that, I made a new "config" file for my local server based on the "config-sample" file.
Here's where things get tricky: when I try to use the "install.php" file, I am brought to a screen that asks for credentials. I give it some generic credentials and then I submit it in order to install WordPress. However, when I submit the form, the loaded page is completely blank and the URL appears as "localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php?step=2".
When I go into the database, it shows me that WordPress created all of the necessary tables, but didn't create any log-in credentials for me. I was doing some research and there were a couple pages that mentioned the need for increased PHP RAM, but I'm unsure of how to increase the RAM for local use or if it's even a problem. If anyone had an error like this happen to them, I would really appreciate some feedback as to what could be causing this problem.
I had the same exact problem, with an almost blank screen on step-2 passage.
Adding in wp-config.php these lines solved everything:
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '128M');
set_time_limit(60);
I've installed Wordpress 4.0 from a zip file on XAMPP 1.8.3 on my Win7-32bit PC.
Setting up the DB and all, I got the same "blank screen" at the step 2.
So, I went in to phpMyAdmin, and edited the "wp_users" table on my entry. I modified the user_login and the user_password (using an MD5 converter). Saved the entry and got into the localhost url for wordpress. Got into the log in, and everything seems to be working without any issues.
As a note: I installed a fresh/clean install so there were no custom themes nor plugins.

I am currently working on a WordPress project on a remote IIS server. I consider myself well versed in the use of WordPress, however, most of my previous projects have been on Apache servers and I am really running into problems on the IIS server.
I have contacted the host, and made sure that I have the correct file permissions. However, I cannot upload files or edit themes/plugins from the WordPress backend.
For example, when I use the WordPress theme editor panel, I make changes in the text, but when I click save there is no "Your changes have been saved message" and the file is just reverted to what it was before.
When I try to upload an image inside a post, I receive the following message:
The uploaded file could not be moved to C:\xxx\wwwroot\xxx.com\www\dev/wp-content\uploads.
I notice the slash to the right of dev is incorrect, but I cannot figure out how to change this. I have tried defining this in the wp-config file with several different variations with no luck. For example, I have tried adding define('UPLOADS', '\wp-content\uploads') and I have also tried using the absolute path.
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? I need to get this squared away as soon as possible, but I am not sure where to go from here. Any advice is appreciated.

When I try the absolute path, C:\xxx\wwwroot\xxx.com\www\dev\wp-content\uploads, I get the following
The uploaded file could not be moved to C:\xxx\wwwroot\xxx.com\www\dev\wp-content\uploads.
When I try wp-content\uploads in the "upload_path", I get the following
The uploaded file could not be moved to C:\xxx\wwwroot\xxx.com\www\dev/wp-content\uploads.

you need to give php temp dir full permissions (iusr) (network service) c:\winnt\temp is the default upload dir before it moves to the wp site so this has to be set
in php admin (in iis applet) u can change the temp dir if your not liking the fact its in your NOS dir
next issue u will have is max_fileupload size also in php admin
iis works great best if your the admin of the server to quickly make the needed changes
