OpenStack - KeyPair extension is sometimes unavailable - openstack

I have a Java application that uses jclouds to launch new VMs. Lately, I've been getting a message from jclouds that says Key Pairs are required by options, but the extension is not available!. Interestingly (and very annoyingly), this is an intermittent thing. After some (varying) number of this error occurring, the application will succeed in its request and things will continue as normal.
If I request a list of extensions from the OpenStack environment ($Our_openstack_server/v2.1/$tenant_id/extensions) I do see os-keypairs there.
I do know that there were some upgrades done on OpenStack in the last few months, but I don't know the scope of them.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I'm not very experienced with OpenStack and I'm not even sure how to continue debugging this!
(jclouds version is 1.9.2, OpenStack I think is 2.1)

Every time I use expo client, my http network fails to work

TCP connections work fine as I am able to converse with someone over zoom and teamviewer. However, whenever I attempt to access another webpage, I get a network error. Google seems to work fine for some reason but any webpage I go to listed by Google fails to connect. The only way I can open up my http connections is by ending a task called "init" inside of task manager. This shuts down my vscode as well as my ubuntu terminals I have running. If someone knows the solution please do tell. It's really annoying having to close out my vscode and terminals as well as my local servers to look up information and debug.
I found a fix to this issue.
So I was running a Windows Subsystem for Linux and my Windows Build was outdated as well as WSL. When I updated Windows and upgraded to WSL2, my issue was resolved and I don't seem to get any more network errors.

Java/Websphere NoSuchProviderException: IBMCertPath

I've recently inherited a task at my company that involves implementing an application that has currently been running off an employee's windows desktop, and migrating that code to Unix Server used for the office.
The server also runs IBM's websphere, which contains many of the companies larger web applications and uses java 1.6.
Organizational points aside (this is a huge company and much of the coding looks like a spaghetti western, with old legacy systems I wouldn't be suprised if people don't have any idea about), my plans was simply downgrade the code (which was simple as it was from 1.7 to 1.6), then move this application to a runnable jar, and call it via a shell script.
I, however, realize now why this application was never migrated to our production server, as I can't get the thing to run in the UNIX system.
First, I ran into an issue where (and I may be wrong about this) the SSL connections used as part of the application throws an error (same error as this question: Error accessing a Web Service with SSL) After some reading, it seems that any java application run on a server with Websphere (if the application is not in websphere) cannot be done, and thus you have to manually set some java Security Properties to do this (which i did right at the opening of my main method).
After doing that, I get past the initial error, but I am now getting this error
"com.ibm.jsse2.util.j: PKIX path validation failed: java.security.NoSuchProviderException: no such provider: IBMCertPath"
If this has already been asked, I'm sorry, but I couldn't seem to find it. Please link it here and i will close the question.
You are getting the error because something has specified to use the IBMCertPath provider, but java security doesn't know what that provider is.
You need to ensure that com.ibm.security.cert.IBMCertPath is in the provider list in your java.security file. See:

Sending email no longer working on Ubuntu 14.04.1 after deploying with Meteor Up

Recently I added email sending capability to my Meteor app, using both the email package, and the account registration APIs to send emails. The other day, after having tested this thoroughly on my dev machine, I deployed it to our production server using Meteor Up. Once deployed, I did a quick check that the email APIs were working properly, and let it be. A day or two later, I made some minor changes, wrapping these email APIs in a Meteor.defer method to speed up the UI. I tested the changes locally (all fine), and re-deployed. I also ran apt-get update on my server after seeing a notification there were some new security updates available. After doing this, the email system no longer works. I tried reverting back to my previous configuration, and it still isn't working. I'm getting a timeout error:
Exception while invoking method 'forgotPassword' Error: connect ETIMEDOUT
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what might be causing this timeout (a blocked port?...how can I diagnose this?). Given my SMTP port is working on my development machine, it doesn't seem to be an issue with my code, but rather either with the MUP deployment, or Ubuntu configuration. I'm not super familiar with configuring Ubuntu servers. Any suggestions on how to go about de-bugging would be greatly appreciated!
We got a similar problem, and it was solved by opening the needed port in EC2. thanks to https://kylegoslin.wordpress.com/2012/06/05/116/

Saltstack: network.ip_addrs is not available

I've run into an issue with Saltstack version 2014.7.0, where I cannot get network information from Salt.
If I run:
salt-call network.ip_addrs
I get:
Function network.ip_addrs is not available
This only seems to happen on some of my hosts. It seems to effect the almost all of the functions in salt.modules.network, but everything else works as expected.
I suspect there's something in my environment to blame. I am running salt within a CentOS 7 docker container. I followed these instructions to get Systemd running under Docker, and it seems to be functioning just fine, so I don't think that's the issue, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's related. I'm using Docker as a development environment, but I will be using these formula to orchestrate virtual machines in production.
Has anyone encountered the network module not being loaded properly? Is there something that needs to be available for that module to be accessible?
I have other mechanisms to get the IP address, but none that are as easy to work with in other salt formulas.
It turns out my problem was that I had my own custom module called "network" which was obscuring the upstream network module.
I'm pretty sure this was working at some point in the past, so I'm wondering if there might have been a change to salt in a more recent version that would cause it to conflict at a module level instead of merging methods from different modules of the same name, but I suppose it's possible that it never worked.

Cannot Start IIS on my PC: COM+ System Application: Access is Denied

I'm trying to do some web development. I cannot start IIS (I need to run some Web Services).
As of about a month ago, the "COM+ System Application" service has started failing with this error:
The COM+ System Application service
failed to start due to the following
error: Access is denied.
DCOM also logs an error in the event log:
DCOM got error "Access is denied. "
attempting to start the service
COMSysApp with arguments "" in order
to run the server:
{ECABAFBC-7F19-11D2-978E-0000F8757E2A}
When I start IIS and the WWW service, everthing seems to work until I hit port 80 on my machine at which time the IIS/WWW services both crash unexpectedly:
The World Wide Web Publishing service
terminated unexpectedly. It has done
this 1 time(s).
The following event is placed in the application log as well:
The run-time environment has detected
an inconsistency in its internal
state. This indicates a potential
instability in the process that could
be caused by the custom components
running in the COM+ application, the
components they make use of, or other
factors. Error in
f:\xpsp3\com\com1x\src\comsvcs\package\cpackage.cpp(1184),
hr = 80070005: InitEventCollector
failed
I have searched google until my fingers are numb. I've searched this site to no avail as well.
I have tried:
running the COM+ System Application service as an administrator.
reinstalling SP3 for XP
giving the "SERVICE" account full control to %SYSTEMROOT%\Registration
removing XP Security hotfixes installed about the time it stopped working
I've removed and reinstalled COM+ (it's possible, check google)
Any insight on the COM+ subsystem, it's files and settings or just how it operates would be greatly appreciated.
I need to get this problem resolved so I can get back to work.
Have you seen this link?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909444
I'm having the same problem, and it appears it might have fixed it for me - though I did have to reboot afterwards which isn't explicitly in the kb instructions.
(Though it's hard to tell right now if this actually fixed it, because sometimes for me the problem would disappear on its own after a reboot (which doesn't make a lot of sense given the steps in the kb)).
Sorry all.
I forgot to update this when I found the solution... Well, it was self-inflicted. Some months ago, I removed the execute permissions from dllhost.exe. I hadn't been coding asp.net web apps at the time so I didn't notice the problem and couldn't put two and two together very quickly.
I eventually found it by turning on file system failed auditing on my Windows folder hive. I saw a mess of access denied messages related to dllhost.exe and remembered what I'd done.
Thanks for the help.
