I already have IIS installed on my localhost.
I just use sublime text editor to create my website.
But now i have problem in debugging the vb code. So I decided to install Visual Studio Express.
So, can I install the Visual Studio Express without conflicting the existing website?
Yes you can.
Visual Studio uses IIS Express, that works on random ports different from standard ones (80 etc)
So youll'not have problem with existing IIS websites.

I created a website using visual studio 2015 with MVC 5.
The website should run locally using local databse.
The problem is, I want to run this website as program, without need to install iis or visual studio to run it..
What can I do?
ASP.NET MVC is a website and not a program as such. It therefore requires IIS to run. You don't need Visual Studio however.
If you want a stand-alone executable, you need to use a different UI paradigm. Console, Winforms or Universal Windows App to name just three.
Your option is to migrate to dotnet Core which can host web application as a Windows service, or just a Console App. You dont need Visial Studio to host it at all.
How do I enable the option to use IIS Express for a website project in my solution?
I have installed IIS Express but it does not show up as an option? I would like to use this because at the moment I cannot use IIS on my machine.
Do you have Visual Studio 2010 SP1 installed? SP1 is required to get the IIS Express option in the Web tab of your project properties. (don't forget to also do a windows update) Also, you should install the Visual Studio 2010 Web Standards Update as well.
As 'Mystere Man' said you need VS 2010 service pack (SP1) to see IIS Express option in VS. If you are sure that you have SP1 installed, did you check if IIS Express exists in the installation folder? (%programfiles%\IIS Express or %programfiles(x86)\IIS Express)
If it is not installed, you can install it from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1038
I had this problem because I opened the site through IIS. The only way to see that the project was opened through IIS is the lack of this button and the title of the Web Site project looks like: http://localhost/x rather than http://localhost:1111.
To get the ability to use IIS Express, you have to remove the Web Site project from the solution and use Add Existing Web Site then choose the file system.
When Visual Studio 2010 (10.0.4 SP1) was installed on my machine, it seems no web development settings were installed. There are no web projects under templates, and Web Development Settings do not appear under the default settings list (Under Tools->Import Export Settings).
I don't know for sure that I'm not just missing some big obvious 'Switch to Web Development Mode' button somewhere, but I've had a good Google and a look and I cant see anything.
I would rather not have to install Visual Web Developer. Is there some way I can add web development settings to my existing install of Visual Studio?
Here are the steps to install it while installing Web Deploymnet Settings
· Insert the DVD or CDROM Disk 1 – the Setup program starts automatically.
· Click Install Visual Studio 2010 and follow the instructions.
o This installs Visual Studio, the .NET framework, the development web server, and SQL Server 2008 Express.
o If you are installing Visual Web Developer 2010 Express Edition, it does NOT install SQL Server 2008 Express – you’ll need to download SQL Server 2008 and install it separately.
· On the Options page accept Default option – for the Default Environment Settings you can select Web Development Settings.
· Click the Install Product Documentation link to install the MSDN help files.
You must have missed it so run the setup again and as you don't want to reinstall VS you'll be asked to repair the setup there you can select the feature

This adds the web development parts to an installed version of visual studio that lacks them (along with all the other tool you require for web development)
We are using Visual Studio 2008 on IIS 7, and on some machines we are having trouble getting Visual Studio to recognize our website as an IIS website. On most machines it is configured properly, displaying and running under http://localhost/websitename. But on a couple of machines - using the same solution file - it loads it as a directory/asp.net site: in VS it appears as c:...\foldername, and when running it, it comes up as http://localhost:randomportnumber/websitename.
We tried removing and then re-adding the site through the File-> Open Website-> Local IIS, but when we select the site it automatically changes it to a asp.net site.
Thanks in advance.
In the properties of the project, you can specify whether or not to use IIS or the built-in ASP.NET server.
When you debug a website and you see the odd port number after local, you are running the visual studio web server Cassini and not through IIS.
You can configure this when you go to property settings on your website.
I want to setup a Win7 virtual machine to develop using Visual Studio 2008 and ASP.Net 3.5.
I don't know what the best order to install what I need. I will need to install:
a) Visual Studio 2008
b) IIS
c) Service Packs for Visual Studio and/or .Net Framework
My last try was bad, I cannot do my old ASP.Net 3.5 web app to work on Win7 (works fine on Win2003).
Another questions are, if I choose to use Visual Studio 2010 (to develop ASP.Net 3.5), it's recommended? And the installation order will change?
Thanks for all
Your best bet is to actually use the Microsoft Web Platform Installer. This tool will walk you through installing ALL of the components you need to host a web application. Pick your platform (PHP, ASP.NET, etc), an optional application (DasBlog, etc), and even choose to download Visual Studio 2008 Web Developer + SQL Express. It will install everything for you seamlessly. I've used it and I highly recommend it for a "clean" install.
I'd install IIS first, then Visual Studio 2008. The framework will come with VS.NET 2008. If all goes wrong learn to use aspnet_regiis.exe
