I would like to fetch an URL that requires an authentication, like the admin page of Wordpress using Google Apps Script, UrlFetch (anything else is fine if its something in Apps Script.)
There seems to be solution if it is a basic auth though.
Is that possible for Wordpress?
For WordPress, you can install the WP REST API plugin and then use Basic Auth + UrlFetch to get your data into Apps Script. This, I think, is the ideal solution.
If you want it for anyother website, you should mention it in the question. In generak, yes, Basic Auth is the solution.

My company are running some updates on our cookie policy. We were looking into OneTrust's cookie compliance. It seems to be a popular platform when it comes to Privacy and Security.
We've build our site on Wordpress but mainly work with Elementor Website Builder for the development. Coding skills are very basic. Does anyone know if OneTrust provides a plug-in or if they provide a code that generates a cookie banner with consent and preferences that could be easily inserted to the site?
Is anyone familiar with OneTrust and how the integration works on Wordpress?
Any information would help.
Thanks!
If you have set up Google Tag Manager for website then you can use GTM for script integration. Otherwise add the script to the section before any other script.

I’m about to build an app that will look like a social network: people will be able to create accounts, like posts, save posts (But not create posts).
I’m searching the right platform to build my backend, I saw many options like Parse or Node.js but I did not see many people using WordPress as backend.
My question is why not use WordPress as my backend and develop custom plugins as I need? What is the pros and cons? Am I missing something that makes people not using WordPress?
Thanks
You can use the WordPress as the backend of your app as per your requirement, As WordPress allows wp-JSON API & WooCommerce API as well.
Also you can integrate the JWT Authentication for WP REST API plugin if you want to implement the JWT authentication
Also you can customize as per your requirement so i suggest to use the wordpress as backend of your app
There are a lot of people using Parse Server for building social networks and it is a great fit. Take a look at the following app template. It shows how to build an Instagram app.

I've set up af headless WP with a ReactJS frontend. My idea is to use the WP backend to store and manage content that users create. I want people to be able to sign up and login to my site, and create their own content. But my problem is, that I need a guide/tutorial how to do is. Should I use the JWT authentication plugin and how do I create users (does not have to be WP users)?
Any ideas?
Thanks Kasper
First you must create WordPress users as the WordPress code checks the capabilities of the current user to allow write access to its data. WordPress supports a REST API that allows front end JavaScript to access its data. It by default uses cookie authentication to control access. However, there are actions/filters so you can implement your own authentication. If you use the default cookie authentication then you can use the WordPress login facilities to handle authentication. The supported JavaScript client is a Backbone client. I don't know if that will work well with ReactJS (I don't know ReactJS) so you may need to some work with the front-end client side.
Incidentally, the WordPress Calypso project uses a ReactJS frontend to access the WordPress backend. I don't know this project so I don't have an opinion. My feeling is that WordPress decided on Backbone before ReactJS became well known but ReactJS is actually much better so they have the Calypso project. You can read that code to get ideas.
I've found out about new Google Firebase Hosting recently and I was wondering if that would work for Wordpress website?
I got a bit confused them talking about static websites & web apps even though as far as I know Wordpress is dynamic...right? on their website it says:
https://firebase.google.com/docs/hosting/#key_functions
Whether you are deploying a simple app landing page or a complex Progressive Web App, Hosting gives you the infrastructure, features, and tooling tailored to deploying and managing static websites.
It looks like a nice Hosting platform for web, especially that they provide SSL certificates, but is it good for Wordpress?
Thanks!
I THINK it would be possible, you still need your SQL+PHP server and you should use it as WordPress backend, you need the WordPress REST API and a plugin with hooks in transition_post_status, comments... and whatever you want to show in your front end, use WordPress API endpoints to send the JSON to the firebase database... after your template should use a Javascript framework in order to make JSON requests to the firebase database and show the data in the browser... It would be difficult but I think it could be the cheaper and best solution ever for a high traffic website (plus all the benefits of firebase).
Nope. Firebase doesn't provide any of the requirements necessary for Wordpress, that being MySQL and PHP on the server side. Firebase provides a JSON store accessible via an API, and static hosting for apps that can access said API.
I saw in wordpress some APIs being published for developers. What could a developer gain by using those APIs?
I think you've taken API to mean something similar to what Flickr and Vimeo do, which they are not. They are simply ways for you to access and ammend core functionality of the Wordpress platform, so as to bend it to do what ever it is you need it to do.
There are ways to pull data from your blog to a mobile devise, but that is a very different question.
Wordpress API are for those that want to develop a theme, or writing custom plugins for Wordpress.
Either way, you can use to integrate Wordpress in your exisiting php site, using the powerful backend as an administration tool and the using the API to retrieve the content and present it in your (already) website.
