mapping cname to my custom domain name results in posts with cname only - wordpress

I have a custom domain yourtechchick.com hosted with openshift. I have mapped Cname your-techchick.rhcloud.com to http://www.yourtechchick.com and it seems to work. But, When I click on posts, It leads to url with your-techchick.rhcloud.com/post-name . I want it to be yourtechchick.com/post-name. How do I fix this?
My permalink shows your-techchick.rhcloud.com option only. Is it possible to fix this with wordpress url and site url thing?
Also, I would like to know in detail the difference between wordpress url and site url.
I somewhere read this is where I need to change, if yes, which amongst these needs to be changed to http://www.yourtechchick.com from http://your-techchick.rhcloud.com.
and In case I mess up these settings, which file will I need to reupload through ftp client in wordpress directory?

You need to log into your wordpress admin, and change the home and siteurl options to be your custom domain, instead of the app-domain.rhcloud.com that you originally set it up with. Here is some official wordpress documentation for reference: https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

Change WordPress author URL from /author/xyz to xyz.domain.com for all newly registered users

How can I change each newly registered users page from domain.com/author/xyz to xyz.domain.com automatically?
I'm using ISPConfig with Apache.
I know that I need to point - wildcard - A DNS Record: *.domain.com with the desired IP address
Since we have WooCommerce on the site I can use the woocommerce_payment_complete hook <- so I need to add a PHP snippet there which is create a subdomain in the ISPConfig programmatically with the registered username? or can I achieve this with htaccess or I need to use the WP MultiSite?
And then how it will show the same content from domain.com/author/xyz to xyz.domain.com?
Please note, that I want to do everything automatically I can't do manually one by one after a new user registered.
Because I don't know where to start, I didn't tried anything.
I read a lot about the rewrite in the htaccess and such things but I can't find a solution to doing it automatically for new users, just manually in the WP Multisite Network etc...

park a domain without redirecting in wordpress

i have a wordpress website with this name mydomain.ir
i parked mydomain.com to this website. but when i type mydomain.com it redirect to mydomain.ir
i want to address stay on mydomain.com .
i try some plugins but didnt work properly.
my host service told that this is a worpress error and you should change your codes.
i tried this but didnt work too
what can i do to do this?
thanks for your answers
First of all, make sure that you have the correct url at wordpress settings. Check Settings->General and make sure that site and home urls ar the one you want.
Next, check if there is any kind of redirection at .htaccess file.
Then, check at your cpanel if you have added any redirection there.
Finally, make a search at your wordpress database for your unwanted domain name. Make sure to change all old urls to the new one. Try this plugin for that: https://wordpress.org/plugins/velvet-blues-update-urls/
Update:
Alternatively, you may want to mask your domain. This should be done through your domain name registrar.

Mapping custom domain to the openshift wordpress blog

I have an openshift wordpress blog running at http://blog-example.rhcloud.com/ and added CNAME records in my DNS management as follows.
example.com
www.example.com
and works fine. When i type, this leads to my blog home page. But the pages and links in the blog actually leads to openshift naming space. i.e., blog-example.rhcloud.com/?page_id=7
I just want to mask blog-example.rhcloud.com/ to example.com every where in my app.I would be happy to provide further information if any thing required to analyse the issue.
PS: I bought the domain from Big Rock and using their console for CNAME entry.
You need to go into your WordPress admin and change the url on the settings or options page to use your custom domain instead of the app-domain.rhcloud.com one. If you want to change it directly in the database (which i don't recommend) it is in the wp_options table under home and siteurl i believe... But I DO recommend using the WordPress admin.
You need to go to
Settings=>General=> Site Address(URL),
Settings=>General=> wordpress address(url)
and update it to your custom domain.

Wordpress links pointing to the wrong domain

In wordpress, how can I change where the links are pointing to without changing the server name or adding redirection?
My main site is a rails app at www.example.com.
I have the wordpress blog on a separate server at blog.example.com/blog
I have a reverse proxy on the primary (rails) server that takes any url that ends in /blog/ and then serves up the blog content. (That's all behind the scenes -- the user never sees the blog.example.com domain)
Currently, I can access the blog via the reverse proxy at www.example.com/blog, but the problem is that the urls on the blog point to blog.example.com/blog (wrong) instead of www.example.com/blog (right).
I've tried changing the urls in wp-config.php, but whenever I change those it breaks something.
I eventually figured it out. Here's what I did.
1) Got rid of the Bitnami wordpress image (on Amazon) and reinstalled wordpress fresh, from scratch, on EC2. Bitnami had a bunch of magic behind the scenes that was making it hard for me to figure out what was going on.
2) Via wordpress admin changed Site Address (URL) from http://blog.example.com/blog to http://www.example.com/blog Previously, I had been changing this in the wp-config.php file, but I am pretty sure that doesn't do the same thing. So I needed to change it in wordpress admin. However I needed to keep the Wordpress Address the same. Found out that the Site Address governs the urls displayed in the theme, whereas the Wordpress Address is the server hostname. I'm using a reverse proxy which is why this was confusing.
3) To enable pretty permalinks behind the reverse proxy I changed the permalink settings in wordpress admin, then I updated .htaccess according to its instructions, then I modified /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default changing AllowOverride None to AllowOverride All. Need to do this to enable mod_rewrite to work on virtual hosts.
Go to wp-admin - settings, and change site url. Than flush permalinks by resaving settings.
You don't really provide a mountain of information. But you will need to check this area of your dashboard
http://www.steveovens.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/wpid209-Check__Force_HTTPS_in_site_address__Wordpress_address.png
to make sure the information is
http://54.235.249.193/blog/
In both fields.
If you still have issues try changing your permalink setting to a new setting save it and then change it back again and save.
http://www.webmikesites.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/permalink-settings.png
If you are unable to access the dashboard of the site on the address
http://54.235.249.193/blog/wp-login.php
As it redirects you to the other domain.
Then you need to likely change the two fields mentioned earlier siteaddress and wordpressaddress via the database. Find the table in your database wp_options or yourtableprefix_options and edit the fields option_value where the option_name is siteurl and home to have the address
http://54.235.249.193/blog/
Also if you are just starting using a webserver. You may need to make sure your files are writable by the webserver.

Changing the URL of a wordpress site

I have a wordpress site at http://myname.myprovider.info and I just bought the domain http://www.myname.com
Ive tried to change the URL in the backend at "Setting > General" both fields WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) with http://www.myname.com. The moment i click save, Im automatically logged out of the backend. If i try to log back in, I get a white screen.
The only way to log back in is to add in the config file the following line:
define('RELOCATE',true);
If then I go back to "Settting > General" I see that WordPress Address (URL) still has the http://myname.myprovider.com and everytime I try to change it again, the loop starts again...
What can I do?
you cant just change the url in wordpress ... you would need to move all the files to your new host
you can facilitate this in wp-admin
under tools select export and follow the dirrections
then setup wordpress on your new host
and goto wp-admin and select tools import and select the earlier exported file
If you're moving from a subdomain to the main domain, you have to move files. See Moving WordPress « WordPress Codex and How to Move WordPress Blog to New Domain or Location » My Digital Life and check with your host; the URL structure "myprovider.info" may be problematic, whoever the "provider" really is.
I had a very similar problem some time back and I'm trying to remember what the source of the problem was. Until I do, here are some ideas you may or may not have tried:
(obviously backup everything first!)
Check your code (theme, scripts, functions.php, etc.) for any instances of the old URL. Sure, we all know better than hard-coding the URL but...
Do a search through your WordPress database for the old URL. Carefully (very carefully!) replace it with the new one. In my experience some plugins aren't well behaved when it comes to storing the web site URL in the database.
Try disabling all plugins to see if one of them is causing a problem.
I assume you've set the DNS by hand, rather than your domain registrar putting in place some kind of forwarding?
After much tinkering, it turns out I didnt configure the domain properly :P Thanks for all the help anyway.
