Command line Interface in Agent in Nolio - nolio

To upload manifest file at the time of deployment, I want that there should be prompt every time for uploading manifest file, the previous manifest file should not be picked up automatically.
For this, is there any option in ROC? With CLI, since I dont have the access to the main server can I install CLI on Agent? It would be great if I can have a clear process for installation on Agent, I am confused with documents available.
I have one running Agent.

Converted UWP... Nothing Happens

I have converted a Win32 Application to UWP using MakeAppX and it doesn't seem to run. When I click the icon in the start menu literally nothing happens except a busy icon briefly appears on the cursor.
I completed the same process with Notepad++ and all it's DLLs and that worked fine (using the exact same manifest file, just changing the exe)
My questions are:
Where does the UWP save files that it creates/temporary files etc? If I run an executable and it generates files next to it, where would that be when you run a UWP?
Can I set that location in the AppxManifest?
Is there anyway to see if it has run correctly or not?

Could this be a file permissions issue? My application needs to write to 'C:\MyFolder' & creates a folder with a load of files next to the executable upon startup and that doesn't happen.
So looking into this a bit more I came across this blog which discusses preparing for conversion. I think the above file accesses probably contravene the following:
Your app writes to the install directory for your app. For example, your app writes to a log file that you put in the same directory as your exe. This isn't supported, so you'll need to find another location, like the local app data store.
This looks like a fairly halting issue, am I correct in that assumption?
If your app is writing to the install directory you will need to change that code to write to your local app data folder instead, as the preparation guide calls out.
Write operations to the install directory are not allowed in order to ensure the ability for the app deployment stack to perform seamless, differential updates and clean uninstalls of your app.
Btw, to debug through your app launch failures you can do the following in Visual Studio: Debug -> Other Debug Target -> Debug Installed App Package -> select your app from the list of installed apps.

firebase deploy not updating html file, not a cache issue

I'm doing a firebase deploy, but my local file does not match my served file. I have quadrupal checked the file that's in the deployed directory, I've disabled cache, I've hard reloaded, I've navigated directly to the file, I've made additional changes to the file, I've deployed from my local dev machine and from a clean CI server.
I navigate to http://localhost:3000/views/tasks.html and see one html result and then to https://[my-firebase-url]/views/tasks.html and see an older html result for the same file.
I've done firebase deploy --debug and everything is reported as successful and the file count is correct. Is there any additional information I can find out myself? Is there a way to look at the build that's uploaded to firebase mentioned in the debug file?
This has worked every time I've ever done it until now with the same project and file structure. Any way to troubleshoot this would be awesome. Thanks!
in my case I forgot to build(ng build --prod) the modified project to update the dist folder, which is uploaded on firebase server when deploy
As the comment by Frank van Puffelencheck mentioned, checking the Firebase status dashboard for the latest information is an additional step to take. If I had done that, I would have seen that the firebase deploy service was having issues at the time.
The issue for me was that I did not save the file. As i was working with bracket and seeing the modification, I forgot it.

Alfresco Community v.5.1 does not start and loading the index.html forever

For some unexplained reason I can't use alfresco from yesterday.
Let me tell you how happens.
First of all, I didn't change any conf file or something like that.
I started tomcat and postgre services and after that, I tried to load "localhost:8080/share" but it was loading forever.
I tried to check the logs files, but no use, too. There is no error messages, nothing unusual.
After that, I deleted alfresco and share folder inside the "webapps", just in case, but it failed, too.
Finally, I can't stop these services from service manager, cause I am at work and I have no access privilege.
My main concern is that I don't even know the cause of this issue, so I don't even know how to ask for help.
When you don't have permission to delete the folder(share + alfresco) and stopping the services also. Without stopping the services, you can't delete the complete files from alfresco and share folders.
You need to find the problem is in Alfresco share, Alfresco Repo or database or tomcat.
Check Tomcat
Type http://localhost:8080 and make sure Tomcat is running or not.
Check Database
Connect your database service from Service manager, via PgAdmin tool to check the database service is running or not.
Check Repo
http://localhost:8080/alfresco - It should display some basic information about Alfresco Repo otherwise, it is clearly decided the Alfresco Repo itself is failed.
Check Share
http://localhost:8080/share - It should display the login page, if everything works fine.
Logs
Check and share, alfresco.log, share.log, solr.log, catalina, tomcatstdout and tomcatstderror logs files. Definitely, some of the error information would have recorded any of these logs files.

Publishing failed

We are using Tridion 2011 SP1. Some of the pages/components are getting failed while publishing with below mentioned error.

Components/Pages are failing under stage Preparing Deployment, how should we fix it?
Do you have multiple Deployers using the same incoming location?
It looks like you’re running the Deployer as a WebApp – is the Deployer service also running on the system?
If you search for all files named “cd_deployer_conf.xml”, do they have the same incoming folder (D:\Inetpub\TridionPublisherFS4SP\incoming) defined?
Otherwise, you might use ProcMon to watch the folder and see what else is accessing the file.
If you still have this issue, you may try
1. deleting all files under incoming,
2. making sure there is no encryption enabled for the incoming folder (Some companies apply encrypt script immediately to the files that are added to the drive) or
3. making sure your antivirus is not screening that folder (As Nuno mentioned).
Do a restart of the deployer app and verify in the logs?

How to retain folder permission during website deployment?

I have a production website that, once built in TFS is re-deployed and updated using xcopy. The entire site (excluding the root directory) it deleted then the new site copied in. This works well.
We use a 3rd party charting package that creates images at runtime and then renders a link to them. In order to do this it needs write permissions to a browsable folder.
Unfortunately, every time we update the website the write permissions of IIS_USRS is lost. Is there any way to retain this?
I guess it depends on what operating system the server is running, and whether you are building on the same server as you're deploying to, or a remote one.
The simplest thing to do is to put your xcopy command into a batch file, and include something like the following after the xcopy:
cacls c:\[PathToWebsite]\[ChartImagesFolder] /E /G [AccountSiteRunsUnder]:C
Or a more up to date option (I've not used this, so my parameters may be off):
icacls c:\[PathToWebsite]\[ChartImagesFolder] /grant [AccountSiteRunsUnder]:M
Basically, either of those should give the user account that the site is running under modify (change) rights in the folder specified. This should be in addition to any existing rights on the folder, there are modifiers or switches to replace the existing rights.
If you are deploying to a remote server, you'll need some mechanism to run commands on there, we've found that PSExec works a treat (part of the PS tools from SysInternals).
