Foundation fixed top bar, how to deal with the ofset - css

I am trying to use the 'fixed' class in foundation to keep my topbar fixed at the top when a user scrolls down.
When using it the body of the page goes behind the top navigation bar.
First 3 lines are not visible. I thought about simply pushing it down by creating a margin or some padding at the top. But that won't actually work as the heigh of the top nav bar is not static, it responds to the width of the window.
I have the code here:
http://jsfiddle.net/ancv8bsw/1/
$(document).ready(function () {
$(document).foundation();
})
<div class="contain-to-grid fixed">
<nav class="top-bar" data-topbar data-options="is_hover: false">
<ul class="title-area">
<li class="name">
<h1>
</h1>
</li>
<li class="toggle-topbar menu-icon"><a href><span>Menu</span></a></li>
</ul>
<section class="top-bar-section">
<ul>
<li>
Home
</li>
<li>
About Us
</li>
<li>
Projects
</li>
<li>
Investments
</li>
<li>
Contact Us
</li>
<li>
Contact Us
</li>
<li>
Contact Us
</li>
<li>
Contact Us
</li>
</ul>
</section>
</nav>
</div>
<div>test1</div><div>test2</div><div>test3</div>
<div>test4</div>
<div>test5</div><div>test6</div><div>test7</div><div>test8</div><div>test9</div><div>test10</div><div>test11</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div><div>test</div>
as you can see when narrowing the window the top bar height increases.
Is there a way i can solve this without creating a static margin at the top?

Solved with JS:
$(document).ready(function () {
updateContentOffset();
$(window).resize(function(){
updateContentOffset();
});
function updateContentOffset() {
var offset = $('.contain-to-grid.fixed').height();
$('.content').css('margin-top',offset);
}});
http://jsfiddle.net/ancv8bsw/3/
This script looks to find the height of the container div and update the margin on the content accordingly. You might update your markup classes to something not so generic for the nav container.

Materialize - Like that triggers sidenav disappears

I am trying to get a sidemenu to work on Materialize when should be very simple:
First I add the sidenav content to the page:
<ul id="slide-out" class="sidenav">
<li><div class="user-view">
<div class="background">
<img src="images/office.jpg">
</div>
<img class="circle" src="images/yuna.jpg">
<span class="white-text name">John Doe</span>
<span class="white-text email">jdandturk#gmail.com</span>
</div></li>
<li><i class="material-icons">cloud</i>First Link With Icon</li>
<li>Second Link</li>
<li><div class="divider"></div></li>
<li><a class="subheader">Subheader</a></li>
<li><a class="waves-effect" href="#!">Third Link With Waves</a></li>
</ul>
Then I add the jquery code:
$( document ).ready(function() {
$('.sidenav').sidenav();
});
And finally the part where to problem is:
I have a nav which goes at the top of the page:
<nav>
<div class="nav-wrapper">
<img src="icon.png" alt="" />
<ul class="left hide-on-med-and-down" style="position: relative; left: 100px;">
<li>Trigger SideNav</li><!-- This is just not showing -->
</ul>
</div>
</nav>
For some reason this menu is not showing:
<li>Trigger SideNav</li>
unless I take this off it ... data-target="slide-out" class="sidenav-trigger"
How can I fix this?
In addition to what Moein said (the sidenav-trigger menu only appears when the page width is less than 993px), you can make it appear all the same adding the show-on-large class to your menu button.
Something like:
<nav>
<div class="nav-wrapper">
<i class="material-icons">menu</i>
<ul id="nav-mobile" class="right hide-on-med-and-down">
<li>Menu</li>
<li>Info</li>
</ul>
</div>
</nav>
as I know this is not a problem and the element that has sidenav-trigger class will be shown when the width of the browser is less than 993px. just resize your browser window width to reach less than 993px and see the result.
If it does not work:
I think the problem can be with the content of your link. replace the image with a text and try again.
For reputation reasons, I'm not allowed to comment. It'll work with the javascript code
document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', function(){
var elems = document.querySelectorAll('.sidenav');
var instances = M.Sidenav.init(elems, {});
});
Instead of the code which is given in the official documentation you've to change this piece of code
M.Sidenav.init(elems, options);
with this
M.Sidenav.init(elems, {});
With the official javascript code you'll notice that there's an error in the console when you load the page.

Is there a way to insert div under some of navigation items in wordpress?

I have the below HTML which I want to translate into wordpress function "**wp_nav_menu()**"
<ul class="nav navbar-nav">
<li id="about-menu">
About Us
<div id="about-us">
.....
inner div(s) and
Paragraphs etc
......
</div>
</li>
<li id="contact-menu">
Contact Us
<div id="contact-us">
.....
inner div(s) and
Paragraphs etc
......
</div>
</li>
<li>News</li>
</ul>
Any Idea on how to do it?
You can create a custom nav walker. There are no docs on wordpress.org, but you could simply take a look at an existing walker

Fixed Bootstrap navbar to top of dynamic width DIV - not full width of page

My problem
I am using Bootstrap 3.0 and need to use a fixed navbar, which will stay at the top of a DIV on the left side and NOT extend all the way 100% of the width of the window (like I usually see Bootstrap's example do). I have some very simple code below, using ASP.NET MVC 4 which will explain the RenderSection areas.
I have included an image which shows what I am trying to do. Currently the navbar is only extending about 75% of the left side container, not the full 100% of that left side container like I want it to.
Like I said above, I want the navbar to be fixed so when you scroll it stays in one spot within that left DIV.
Any tips/hints would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I also saw this question (Navbar fixed to top but not full-width) but I do not want to have to dynamically maintain this navbar with a fixed pixel width in media queries. I'd prefer it to fill out the entire left side DIV that contains it.
(http://i.imgur.com/YLzmkHp.jpg)
My code
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<!--LEFT SIDE-->
<div class="col-md-9">
<div data-spy="affix" data-offset-top="0">
<nav class="navbar navbar-default" role="navigation">
<div class="collapse navbar-collapse navbar-ex1-collapse">
<ul class="nav navbar-nav">
<li class="active">Link</li>
<li>Link</li>
<li class="dropdown">
<a data-toggle="dropdown" class="dropdown-toggle" href="#">Dropdown <b class="caret"></b></a>
<ul role="menu" class="dropdown-menu">
<li>Action</li>
<li>Another action</li>
<li>Something else here</li>
<li>Separated link</li>
<li>One more separated link</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<form role="search" class="navbar-form navbar-left">
<div class="form-group">
<input type="text" placeholder="Search" class="form-control">
</div>
<button class="btn btn-default" type="submit">Submit</button>
</form>
</div>
</nav>
</div> <!--end data-spy=affix-->
<!--the LeftSide below just contains basic placeholder text in a <p> tag-->
#RenderSection("LeftSide", true)
</div>
<!--RIGHT SIDE-->
<div class="col-md-3">
<!--the RightSide below just contains basic placeholder text in a <p> tag-->
#RenderSection("RightSide", true)
</div>
</div>
</div>
Partially Solved (update)
I was able to solve my main problem that I listed above by using this bit of jQuery
$(window).resize(function () {
var w = $("#leftSide").width();
$("#navWrapper").css("width", w);
});
But this does not work within an iFrame.
If anyone has any insights on solving this for use in an iFrame, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried placing your navbar and main content area in one column and then your right sidebar in a column by itself? Then add a bit of CSS to correct for the navbar position and adjust for responsiveness.

Wordpress Dropdown CSS not working

I'm creating my own wordpress template and I've coded a jQuery drop down menu that works statically but now I'm trying to make it dynamic the css is messed up. The drop down works but the menu doesn't displaying correctly.
The main menu displays vertical instead of horizontal and the secondary menu is horizontal, instead of vertical. Also the orange type for the main menu isn't displaying.
Here's a working static version
I hope I'm explaining myself thoroughly, if you need any more info please let me know.
Here is my wordpress template code
<div class="box">
<ul id="ldd_menu" class="ldd_menu">
<li>
<span>Menu</span>
<!-- Increases to 510px in width-->
<div class="sub_wrap">
<div class="ldd_submenu">
<nav>
<li class="ldd_heading"></li>
<?php wp_nav_menu(array('menu' => 'main_nav')); ?>
</nav>
<a class="ldd_subfoot" href="#"> Accessibility Link</a>
</div>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div></div>
I would suspect your code is not handling the output format of the wp_nav_menu method. Now I am not sure of your exact version, but newer versions will out put like this. So you will get extra div added in that you might not expect and the way the child menus are output may not be what you expect. Also, as the previous people said your code is not quite right, missing some tags.
<div class="menu-id-container">
<ul class="nav-menu" id="menu-id">
<li class="..." id="..">LINK
<ul class="sub-menu">
<li>Child LINK1</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li class="..." id="...">LINK2</li>
</ul>
</div>

CSS tabs not working with anchors on bootstrap?

Attempt 1
<div class="bs-docs-example">
<ul class="nav nav-tabs">
<li class="active">Homeaaa</li>
<li>Profilefff</li>
<li>Messagesbbb</li>
</ul>
</div>
JSfiddle
I have also tried setting a data-toggle attribute to "tab", but that only allowed me to click between tabs, it didn't separate the aaa/fff/bbb into different tabs.
This should be possible to be done without any JavaScript.
Attempt 2
The closest I've gotten to a working one is:
<div class="tabbable">
<ul class="nav nav-tabs">
<li class="active">
Stir
</li>
<li>
Drink
</li>
</ul>
<div class="tab-content">
<div class="tab-pane active" id="ter">fff</div>
<div class="tab-pane" id="gin">ggg</div>
</div>
</div>
JSfiddle
But this didn't change the URL of the viewer to /#ter or /#gin on click. Also it doesn't seem to work normally in the fiddle...
Your jsFiddle works as expected -- anchor links take you to #gin and #ter. On the other hand, I believe you need to use some JavaScript to actually change the active tab. Here's a try that uses a bit of jQuery:
<div class="tabbable">
<ul class="nav nav-tabs">
<li class="active">
Stir
</li>
<li>
Drink
</li>
</ul>
<div class="tab-content">
<div class="tab-pane active" id="ter">fff</div>
<div class="tab-pane" id="gin">ggg</div>
</div>
</div>
JavaScript:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".nav-tabs li a").click(function() {
var li = $(this).parent("li");
var wch = this.getAttribute("href");
$(li).addClass("active"); //make current li active
$(li).siblings("li").removeClass("active"); //make others inactive
$(".tab-content div").removeClass("active"); //make all tabs inactive first
$(wch).addClass("active"); //activate our tab;
return false; //don't change URL
});
});
And a little demo: little link. Note that the use of jQuery isn't needed; you can easily convert to vanilla JavaScript if you want to avoid using it.
Hope that helped!
