Meteor giving error for any command - "Meteor 1.0.1 is not installed and .." - meteor

I had started learning Meteor a few weeks ago, then had to put it on hold. Now, when I am trying to create a new app by meteor create myapp or meteor --help or just about anything, I only get the following message:
Sorry, Meteor 1.0.1 is not installed and could not be downloaded.
Please check to make sure that you are online.
There is no problem with my internet connection and I'm not sure what's happening here. I'm on Linux Mint 17. (I think my meteor version is 1.0)

Take a look at your .meteor directory. There has to be a file, called release. In this file must be ONLY one line.
METEOR#1.0.1
So, please check this first and give feedback for more help. :)

Why can't I create a Q#create project on VisualStudio Code with QDK || ISSUE :command "'quantum.newProject' failed.)"

help regarding the issue below would be really appreciated :
Command 'Q#: Create new project...' resulted in an error (Running the contributed command: 'quantum.newProject' failed.)
I was trying to follow this exercice : https://learn.microsoft.com/fr-fr/learn/modules/qsharp-create-first-quantum-development-kit/2-install-quantum-development-kit-code
after downloading and running the latest versions of .NET CORE, VSCODE, I can run "Q# Install command line project templates" but can't run "Q# Create a new project : See screenshot1 screenshot 2 CODE SOURCE ERROR
I already done this exercice in May last year but for some reasons I get stuck at the very beginning of the process now.
Could it be a version issue ? I remember that the tutorial was different (May 2020) than the one above I shared to you. Unfortunately I can't find the previous tutorial as it has been updated since.
I tried to uninstall the latest versions to reinstall the versions I downloaded in May : useless, I get the same issue.
Many thanks for you help !
I decided to go with an older version v0.14.2011120240
It seems the new version isn't stable yet.
Install NodeJS: https://nodejs.org/dist/v14.15.4/node-v14.15.4-x64.msi
Then restart VS Code.
"The below steps currently has a dependency to install node.js including npm. We are working on removing that dependency. Alternatively, use our the command line templates to create a Q# project , or use Visual Studio."

Meteor 1.4.1 release not functional on Windows

I tried to install Meteor on another system. Installation go well, then I copied my project and I am running meteor run but
"Extracting meteor-tool#1.4.0-1" it is happening forever. Then I tried to update version number to 1.4.1 and run again "meteor run". Now I do not need to install 1.4.0.1 so it worked but got stuck on extracting on other modules.
Possible reasons can be extraction program of this is release is faulty. Would someone suggest a solution or how can I download 1.4.0.1 release of meteor directly?

I found the answer of this problem. This is problem with tar extractor.
I installed the newest 7zip and renamed the tar.exe in my GIT program folder ("where tar" command in cmd revealed, that somehow that exe was associated with .tar archives) to tar.exe.old.
If you can not find where is tar then run "where tar" command to get path of tar.exe
This solves the problem.
Take a look at this answer: https://stackoverflow.com/a/40122752/6861101
Try adding the following to your local hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts):
54.192.225.217 warehouse.meteor.com
Then run a meteor reset in your app directory (warning - will wipe your local DB), then try starting your app again.
This worked for me.

Meteor stopped working

I was working on a meteor project (version 1.2, React installed) when suddenly a spew of errors appeared in the command prompt. I could no longer start the server. Entering 'meteor' and nothing happened. I then uninstalled meteor completely and reinstalled (now version 1.3). The problem persisted. The only command I could get to work was 'meteor --help'. Even doing a new create (meteor create newapp) did nothing. The command line carriage returned and did nothing. I'm running under windows 10.
Some people have ran into issues when updating to meteor 1.3. Possible duplicate answered here:
Unable to install meteor 1.3 on win 8.1 laptop
I had this issue too. It's a problem from the 1.3 release on Windows.
In the github issues you can find the solution they found to solve this temporarily; what you have to do is this:
Delete the following folders from C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local.meteor\packages
templating, templating-tools, ecmascript, standard-minifier-css. But some people mention having to delete extra folders too <-- emphasis on this
Then open the console as administrator and run meteor in the folder where your app is, so it starts downloading the missing packages you deleted.
This would be enough for it to work.

Meteor doesn't work in Windows 10

I downloaded the Meteor's official Download from here: Meteor 1.2.1
and the installer is just 1.2mb
Now, after running it: Nothing happens. No permission. Nothing. This page is shown:
And then when I hit Skip this step, this is shown:
Even after restarting, there is no .meteor folder in AppData\Local directory, and Meteor command is still not recognised.
Also, I think, how can a 1.2mbinstall something like Meteor which is like 53mb when installed via curl on OSX or Linux.
Are the Meteor fooling windows? I dont know why the installer doesn't work. The point is: How can it?
Downloaded file is installer not setup.
First install the meteor in your machine.
Then set it in environment variable.

meteor version compatibility 1.1.0.3 vs 1.1.0.2

I got error message, running meteor 1.1.0.3
> ~/.meteor/meteor --version
Meteor 1.1.0.3
> ~/.meteor/meteor
Sorry, this project uses Meteor 1.1.0.2, which is not installed and could not be downloaded. Please check to make sure that you are online.
Shouldn't 1.1.0.3 be backward compatible? Can someone tell me how to get earlier version of Meteor
Meteor uses strict version requirements. So meteor-tool will try to download the exact version you specified in your project. If you are indeed not online and can't change that, or just want to start using the latest version that you seem to have installed, then just edit your .meteor/release file and manually change the meteor version to 1.1.0.3.
