Can I do remote live preview using Adobe Brackets? - adobe-brackets

Here's my situation: I have two computers on my desk and I would like to use one of them to develop webpages and use another to do a live preview.
Is there an option in Brackets that I can do this? I tried to access the intranet ip address with the port number appearing in the URL when I'm doing a live preview using a local machine, but it cannot be accessed.

There is currently no remote (LAN) live preview in Brackets and there are open issues on Github for the feature request. (Here's one for example)
The livedev.multibrowser option described in the currently accepted answer opens live preview to multiple browsers on the same machine but does not allow access from anything other than localhost.
Here's a workaround that I've been using in the meantime:
Make a standard local web server (with Node/Apache/IIS/whatever) and install and run LiveReload on your dev machine for your project. On the remote machine(s) install the LiveReload browser extension, visit your site and turn on the LiveReload plugin. You don't get the instant (saveless) updates of the Brackets live preview, but the page will auto-refresh on remote machines when you save any files inside your project.

It is possible to use Live Preview on different machines that share the same local network since Release Brackets 1.1. To do this, open your preference file via Debug > Open Preferences File and insert the following directive: livedev.multibrowser: true. Note that you may have to add a trailing comma. For more information, see https://github.com/adobe/brackets/wiki/Live-Preview-Multibrowser

Can't get local testing working with BrowserStackLocal.exe desktop app on Windows 10

Browserstack has discontinued its chrome extension for local app testing and has moved to a desktop app/.exe that you have to download to do local testing.
I can't seem to get this working running Windows 10 and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and resolved it.
When I download and execute their desktop app, it tells me local testing is enabled:

When I then use Browserstack Live to test local development I get an error message saying local testing is not enabled and it gives me the option to download their desktop app, which I have and says local testing is enabled:
https://imgur.com/a/YMd0LOj
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop app/.exe, it gives me the same results.
I've confirmed with our network team that I am not behind a proxy which is an option to manage the desktop app (under "advanced settings" in the first screenshot above).
Our network team has also whitelisted all traffic from (asterisk).browserstack.com (the actual asterisk character is stripped here) and they're telling me "Additionally I watched his traffic on the firewall as he tried to use the browserstack software and no traffic was blocked
I've also been in contact with browserstack support but have basically been feeding their responses to our network team and our network team's responses back to browserstack. At the end of the day, I still can't get local testing working.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening and how I can resolve it?
I encountered the same behavior while setting up Local Testing with the BrowserStack Local Desktop app that was released after the announcement by Google about the end of support for Chrome apps (Click here). However, I was able to set-up Local Testing post configuring the proxy server details as mentioned over here.
I would suggest checking with your IT team if traffic for *.browserstack.com is being routed via a specific proxy at your end and configuring the proxy details in the 'Advanced Settings' for the desktop app.
In case this doesn't work, do contact BrowserStack Support

How to see what web server is running on my mac?

I'm trying to learn how to create a custom WordPress theme. I've been following a tutorial, and I was trying to install DesktopServer onto my MacBook Pro (to create a local environment.)
But I'm not able to install it because it's stating that
"It appears that you have another web server already running. DesktopServer cannot be installed. Check that you do not have Web Sharing turned on from your System Preference -> Sharing control panel or turn off and remove your other web server."
I've checked my Sharing settings, and nothing is enabled (including internet sharing.) So that must mean I have a web server already running. But I don't know what that would be.
Is there a way for me to find out what web server my mac is running?
And after that, is there a way for me to disable that so I could possibly use DesktopServer instead.
I've really good with writing HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc., but I'm pretty new to the server and hosting and stuff. I honestly don't understand everything yet.
I had the same problem, and the solution that worked for me was here:
https://zachgoll.github.io/blog/2018/serverpress-error/
By default, Mac OSX has an Apache server running in the background
which conflicts with Serverpress by default.
To turn it off, run sudo apachectl stop.

Windows Explorer not refreshing after CreateFolder (new folder)

We have built a WebDav Service with your Engine and have a one problem when we create a new Folder or File:
The new folder / file is created successfully, but not showing in the Windows Explorer. Only if you press F5, the new folder / file is showing (and the name is already selected to be edited).
This behavior is reproducible even with a blank WebDav Solution.
We can reproduce this on Windows 7 and Windows 8 (8.1) using WebDav .NET Server 3.8 and the latest 3.9.
Is there a way to get around this “refresh-problem”?
I solved this issue but clicking in the folder explorer at view > options > then i restored to default and everything is back to normal.
I assume this issue is in Windows Explorer on a single computer. Most likely the WebDAV server-side code is failing with with some exception. Here are some ideas how to detect what is wrong:
Unmount network connections executing 'net use * /DELETE' in a command prompt, this will unmount WebDAV connections too and simulate 'clean' environment.
Retry reproducing the issue and examine your WebDAV logfile. By default it is located in /App_Data/WebDAV/Logs/ folder. Are there any exceptions in it?
Use Fiddler tool or any other debugging proxy to capture and examine HTTP requests. Are there any failed requests?
In case you are creating a folder/file on one computer using Windows Explorer (Microsoft Mini-redirector driver) or IT Hit Ajax File Browser and expect the files list to refresh automatically on another computer this would not work. Mini-redirector does not support any notifications from server and WebDAV does not submit any notifications, you need to refresh the files list manually to see the new items created.
I found this video on Youtube that explains in very much detail how to fix this problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUiCPsQquqc
It is a bit lengthy, so I'll just quickly sum it up here:
The reason for these problems are one or more (broken) Shell Extensions that prevent the refresh of the Windows Explorer
To fix it, open up regedit.exe (requires admin privileges), do a search for the Registry Key "DontRefresh". If it is "1", set it to "0". There might be multiple matches for that Key, so repeat until all Keys have the value "0".
This might not work immediately, you may have to kill and restart your explorer.exe process (easiest to do with the Task Manager). Or you can simply reboot your computer. In my case, it worked immediately.
According to the video, the Keys should only be located under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID, but in my case I could only find such Keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Classes/Wow6432Node/CLSID.
I figured it makes most sense to simply search the complete Registry, it does not take very long.
I tred a lot of hacks, from scanning the system, to recreating the profile to hacking Registry keys and hives.
Finally what worked for me -
Right click on desktop
Select Personalize
Click Themes
Click Change desktop icons
Click Restore default & OK
And instantly it began to auto refresh with a new folder, rename, delete, copy, etc.

not seeing changes after publishing changes

i have an asp.net 2.0 site which is compiled and has been put in the IIS virtual directory
however the new changes cant be seen by some users, and some other users can see the new changes on the web site, i have tried deleting cache and cleaning internet settings and trying with mozilla and chrome and still cant see the new changes.
we also tried cleaning the connection pool on iis.
is there anything more i can possibly do?
Have you confirmed that the machines are hitting the right server? Ping the URL from the "bad" machines and see what it resolves to.
The javascript changes may need browsers to download newer script which was published. (Cached javascript might be older)
For session based changes, if users retained older session, the changes may not reflect until they restart the session.
I found the answer, the server was being split in two machines, and when the server admin updated files only did in one of the servers, not both, now both are updated and running ok, thanks every one for the suggestions.
Two things to try (if Bill Gregg's suggestion doesn't work):
1) Bounce the web server services.
2) Download a freeware app called CCLEANER (formerly called Crap Cleaner....it was seriously called that). This app (when configured correctly) will clean all the junk web files off client machines.

Cannot run webmatrix site

I have created a site with webmatrix. When I try to run it, it says it cannot because it needs admin right to make the connection to port.
I tried to run Webmatrix with admin right it doesn't change anything. What should I do ?
Your question is a bit hard to understand. But I assume you are trying to connect to the site externally meaning from a different computer than the one running webMatrix. If so, there are a couple of things to get right and this post by Vaidy will help you: Serving external traffic with WebMatrix
First thing is that you need to be sure that the port you want to use not used by any application.
the problem is that many time user want to debug application in VS oR VWD and Webmatix. because they use same port so Webmatix not run because VWD already use them.
well first thing is that try to change the port and run if that's not work then they need to run as administator for doing that:-
select webmatix icon open the propety go to advanced and choose tor run as administration.
