3- Installation of the report viewer if not installed (client)
Kindly check:
1. C:\Windows\assembly

In IIS 7.5 or higher version cant read **crystalreportviewer13** .so some times we need to update manually also.
and
Update your **web config** file in your web's root directory.add the following code..
<configuration>
<configSections>
<sectionGroup name="businessObjects">
<sectionGroup name="crystalReports">
<section name="crystalReportViewer" type="System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler" />
</sectionGroup>

When I want to just simply open an application's web.config file (IIS 7.5, Windows 7 x64) or make some changes to it using PowerShell commands, which not necessary has to do anything with the 'protocolMapping' section, the following error is thrown: "Error: The configuration section 'protocolMapping' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration".
The exact same commands are working perfectly on IIS 8, but I need this to work in IIS 7.5 too. What can be the problem?
Things I've already tried, and do NOT solves the problem:
the applicationPool's framework, under the application is running, is set to v4.0
also the DefaultAppPool is set to v4.0 framework (however the application has a separate applicationPool)
[UPDATE]
This error comes up on multiple machines, running Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit too), even on a fresh install of Windows 7.
Try to put on web.config section this:
<configSections>
<sectionGroup name="system.serviceModel" type="System.ServiceModel.Configuration.ServiceModelSectionGroup, System.ServiceModel, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089">
<section name="protocolMapping" type="System.ServiceModel.Configuration.ProtocolMappingSection, System.ServiceModel, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" />
</sectionGroup>
</configSections>
This solved for me
The error is generating from a misconfiguration in either web.config or applicationhost.config. It's mentioning protocol bindings so you're going to have to start trouble shooting the site bindings either through the gui or (more likely) manually editing the files. I'd start by comparing that section from a working site.
I want to host my ASP.NET 5 project which uses MVC 6 and Entity Framework 7 on Amazon free micro instance.
I can't find any step-by-step manual on how to host ASP.NET 5 projects on IIS, all materials just mention that this is possible but without any guides.
Basically, I'm deploying to local folder and then copying to newly created site, but nothing is working.
Unfortunately, I can't use Azure as it only has one month free trial, not a year.
I'm using Visual Studio 2015 Preview to create ASP.NET 5 projects. I don't think that's difficult to deploy on IIS now.
First publish your website by publishing it as file system in VS 2015 preview, then copy the published folder to your server, create an application in IIS and set the application folder to the wwwroot folder (rather than the root folder), that's all.
Be aware, check if "Microsoft.AspNet.Server.IIS" exists in your website project.json before publishing it.
Edit:
there should be a web.config in wwwroot folder, the content of web.config may be like this (with precompile option when publishing):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<configuration>
<appSettings>
<add key="kpm-package-path" value="..\approot\packages" />
<add key="bootstrapper-version" value="1.0.0-beta1" />
<add key="kre-package-path" value="..\approot\packages" />
<add key="kre-version" value="1.0.0-beta1" />
<add key="kre-clr" value="CoreCLR" />
<add key="kre-app-base" value="..\approot\packages\Rvc.PopUpSite\1.0.0\root" />
</appSettings>
</configuration>
or like this (without precompile option):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<configuration>
<appSettings>
<add key="kpm-package-path" value="..\approot\packages" />
<add key="bootstrapper-version" value="1.0.0-beta1" />
<add key="kre-package-path" value="..\approot\packages" />
<add key="kre-version" value="1.0.0-beta1" />
<add key="kre-clr" value="CoreCLR" />
<add key="kre-app-base" value="..\approot\src\Rvc.PopUpSite" />
</appSettings>
</configuration>
Please notice the value of kre-app-base. Occasionally its value is empty string after publishing in Visual Studio.
I had the same problem with DNX Beta 4.
If someone has the same problem :
You have to target x64 framework (Target DNX Version) when you publish your website in Visual Studio 2015 RC and write "XXX\wwwroot" in Physical Path in your IIS website configuration.
1. First you need to publish the site to the file system:
2. Create a new application in IIS:
3. Unzip the file you've created in step 1 in the website directory from step 2. The folder should look like:
4. You may also need to install DNVM (formerly KVM) and the DNX Runtime Environment (formerly KRE):
Install the DNVM - dotnet version Manager (KVM)
Install the DNX runtime environment inside DNVM (KRE)
You can use the File system publish method. Follow these steps:
1/ Generate in a folder with Visual studio the .dll files
2/ Create a website in IIS manager and give in the path to your folder
I found what I've missed, I need to change url to my public DNS in projct.json file:
"web": "Microsoft.AspNet.Hosting --server Microsoft.AspNet.Server.WebListener --server.urls http://ec2-54-68-21-4.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com/
then after uploading site to Amazon I need to run web.cmd in site root
I have an host where I hosted a webpage with .cshtml extension. My host is arvixe.com that provides ASP and .NET hosting but when I try to load my web page I get this error message.
Server Error in '/' Application.
This type of page is not served.
Description: The type of page you have requested is not served because it has been explicitly forbidden. The extension '.cshtml' may be incorrect. Please review the URL below and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

I read something does I have to write something in my web.config file to make it work
like this
<compilation>
<assemblies>
<add assembly="System.Web.WebPages.Razor, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" />
</assemblies>
<buildProviders>
<add extension=".cshtml" type="System.Web.WebPages.Razor.RazorBuildProvider, System.Web.WebPages.Razor"/>
</buildProviders>
</compilation>
But I tried everything, paste it in on different lines, nothing worked. What do I miss or do wrong?
I believe you are not making using the MVC feature and trying to load just the razor view outside views or custom Area folders.
Then you need to enable webpages key in Web.config which is disabled by default in .Net 4.0
<add key="webpages:Enabled" value="true" />
<appSettings>
<add key="webpages:Enabled" value="true" />
Repairing this in Windows 10 Pro using IIS 10 was a nightmare, it took two days but I was finally able to achieve the desired results using the following procedure:
Open your web site in Visual Studio. The way you do this is to go to File > New > Web Site and then select ASP.Net Empty Web Site AND before you click OK change the location to your project location. In my case I had my project in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\AspNet\Projects\Test
Open internet information services manager (click the "cortana" search and type IIS, it should show up as long as you have it installed). Locate your project folder under the ServerName > Sites > Default Web Site > ... , right click on it and click the "Convert to web Application" button. Accepting the defaults at the prompt by clicking OK should be sufficient in most cases.
Use the following Web.Config file, or something similar. NuGet may overwrite some settings but this isn't a big problem.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!--

<configuration>
<appSettings>
<add key="webPages:Version" value="3.0.0"/>
<add key="webpages:Enabled" value="true"/>
</appSettings>
<system.web>
<compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.0"/>
</system.web>
<runtime>
<assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
</assemblyBinding>
</runtime>
</configuration>
Delete your bin folder, and packages.config file, if they exist. This is because we must assume that something in that bin folder is corrupt since IIS is designed to run Razor/ASP. In your visual studio project you will need to refresh your project so it knows these files have been deleted. This can be done by clicking the refresh button in the menu on the top of the Solution Explorer frame. In you visual studio project go to Tools > NuGet Package Manager > Package Manager Console and enter the following two commands.
Install-Package Microsoft.AspNet.Razor -Version 3.0.0
Install-Package Microsoft.AspNet.WebPages
This was enough to get *.cshtml pages to be rendered by IIS 10 on Windows 10 Pro.
I have a .NET 4.0 Web Forms app that I am running with the beta Oracle EF-aware data provider, and I want to perform "unobtrusive" Oracle deployment to a Win2K8 box, as shown in many SO solutions.
There is an existing Oracle Instant Client installation on the Win2K8 box, which I can neither work with nor remove, and it has an entry in the PATH environment variable on the Win2K8 box. According to this SO answer, I do not need to set PATH for my Oracle DLLs, since I have DllPath set in the web.config.
I am following the procedure from here, yet I still get the provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client error.
Here's my (unsuccessful) setup, as of now:
Oracle DLLs are in my web app's bin directory, and set to Copy Always Do Not Copy.
Platform and Platform Target settings are set to x86 in my local Build Configuration.
32-bit applications are enabled in the app pool (.NET 4.0) on the Win2K8 box.
Oracle DLLs are not present in the GAC, not are they present in the GAC_32 and GAC_64 directories on the Win2K8 box.
My web.config (but not my Win2K8 machine.config) contains this:
<configuration>
<configSections>
<section name="oracle.dataaccess.client" type="System.Data.Common.DbProviderConfigurationHandler, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" />
</configSections>
<oracle.dataaccess.client>
<settings>
<add name="DllPath" value="C:\inetpub\wwwroot\myapp\bin"></add>
<add name="FetchSize" value="65536"></add>
<add name="StatementCacheSize" value="10"></add>
<add name="TraceFileName" value="c:\temp\odpnet2.log"></add>
<add name="TraceLevel" value="0"></add>
<add name="TraceOption" value="0"></add>
</settings>
</oracle.dataaccess.client>
<system.data>
<!-- Version=4.112.2.50 -->
<DbProviderFactories>
<add name="Oracle Data Provider for .NET" invariant="Oracle.DataAccess.Client" description="Oracle Data Provider for .NET" type="Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleClientFactory, Oracle.DataAccess, Version=4.112.2.50, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342" />
</DbProviderFactories>
</system.data>
<connectionStrings>
<add name="MyEntities" connectionString="metadata=res://*/MyModel.csdl|res://*/MyModel.ssdl|res://*/MyModel.msl;provider=Oracle.DataAccess.Client;provider connection string="DATA SOURCE=**<using EZCONNECT format here>**" providerName="System.Data.EntityClient" />
</connectionStrings>
<configuration>
The app itself deploys successfully, and I can run pages that do not reference my Oracle DLLs. But, for those that do reference Oracle, I still get the provider compatibility error.
What am I missing?
Thanks again for the help.
UPDATE: The web app runs on the Win2K8 target with .NET 4.0, EF4.1, and the Oracle EF Provider, completely separate from the other active ODAC install. No PATH variable, no installation from Universal Installer, no Oracle DLLs in GAC.
Case closed. I was missing an Oracle DLL.
Hello,
I convert the project visual studio & the crystal reports to Version 10
but the server has the old version so i have to add the old references
IT show the report but i'm having a problem on printing and engine issue
Crystal Report Bar Engine :
Server message :
Local message :
Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTTP Error 404 - Not Found.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version Information: ASP.NET Development Server 10.0.0.0
Tried :
-- Re install the Crystal Report 10 .
-- Delete all Crystal Report references and add it again .
-- Clean the Solution , remove the references and add it again .
(~ latest result (current status):
I realized that i have install CRforVS_13_0_2 that have the package CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_2.msi and my computer is 32-bit operating system .. so i install CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_2.msi and it finished the installation unlike CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_2.msi .. but the problem with Business Objects still there as it shown in the "Crystal Report Bar Engine " image . ~)
Note : If i add the new references of crystal report ,it sure work on the local but not on
the server . So i have to work with the old references.
HELP .
Analyze the problem
It's possible to analyze the problem, and find a 403 (Forbidden) error
using client tools (debug window of browser)

Cause the problem
In both cases i found that crv.js and style.css some files were not served;
these files are placed by CR installer in wwwroot\aspnet_client folder, but for some reasons they cannot be reached;
In my case the reason is that i create a different website (port 20080) and aspnet_client folder is not placed inside that website
I can see that you use different versions of software and different configurations, but i think you have the same problem.
Solution
The solution is to work on IIS this way:
Copy aspnet_client folder from c:\inetpub\wwwroot folder to the new website root folder.
or (this one is better)
Create a virtual directory called aspnet_client that points to c:\inetpub\wwwroot inside the new website
I think you miss path of report. Please check report path at loading time. Because i have already fetch same issue. So change path in publish version on server.
May be this help to you....
OK ,
( ~ If the server has the older version, then you have to make your framework &
Crystal Reports References compatible with the server sittings . ~ )
So in my case i changed all of my projects framework to framework 3.5 and all my
Crystal Reports References to version 10.5.3700.0 . And still using the 2010 Visual Studio .
IT is working fine now . Thanks for helping guys .
To avoid copying aspnet_client folder simply add in webconfig:
<businessObjects>
<crystalReports>
<crystalReportViewer>
<add key="resourceURI" value="~/localhost/aspnet_client/system_web/4_0_30319/crystalreportviewers13"/>
</crystalReportViewer>
</crystalReports>
</businessObjects>
Note: aspnet_client folder must be configured as an application in IIS
This worked after adding the section shown in the image, in the webconfig
<configSections>
<sectionGroup name="businessObjects">
<sectionGroup name="crystalReports">
<section name="rptBuildProvider" type="CrystalDecisions.Shared.RptBuildProviderHandler, CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral,

<section name="crystalReportViewer" type="System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler"/>
</sectionGroup>
</sectionGroup>
</configSections>
<businessObjects>
<crystalReports>
<rptBuildProvider>
<add embedRptInResource="true"/>
</rptBuildProvider>
<crystalReportViewer>
<add key="ResourceUri" value="/crystalreportviewers13"/>
</crystalReportViewer>
</crystalReports>
</businessObjects>
