I have created the TabLayoutPanel. If its
.gwt-TabLayoutPanel .gwt-TabLayoutPanelTabInner
CSS Class is modified with padding, say
padding: 15px; or font-size: 25px;
then, the tabs hide with in the browser window. What is the reason and how to fix this?
Thanks,
Bennet.
Just a guess (without seeing any code) but I bet you haven't added your TabLayoutPanel properly. The "Layout" panels are great but you you have to play by the rules.
Make sure that you have an unbroken link of "layout" type panels all the way down to the "RootLayoutPanel".
Also, verify that you are in fact using the "RootLayoutPanel" and NOT the "RootPanel" to add your gwt widget to the dom
RootLayoutPanel.get().add(myTabLayoutPanel);
See here, specifically the section titled "RequiresResize" and "ProvidesResize"
http://www.gwtproject.org/doc/latest/DevGuideUiPanels.html#LayoutPanels
.gwt-TabLayoutPanelTabInner is the wrapper around the label displayed in the actual tab. When you try to increase the padding (say padding : 'z'px;)what happens is it pushes the label by 'z' pixels from all sides and it eventually hides behind the enclosing div or the .gwt-TabLayoutPanel .gwt-TabLayoutPanelTabs.
As a solution you can either adjust the padding so that it doesn't hide behind the parent div or increase the size of parent so as to allow the tabs take more padding.

I have a bunch of inputs in bootstrap that have input-group-addon tags as labels. On my page, I have labels of various lengths of text, but I want all the labels to be the same width for the visual effect. I'm trying to manually set the width of these span elements to the largest one I have on the page (for this example, say 75px).
Making my own CSS class doesn't do the trick, bootstrap overrides it somehow that I don't understand.
Making my own .input-group-addon.myClass CSS class doesn't work either. The browser shows that this isn't overridden by another style, but I don't see it actually effecting the span element.
Lastly, simply adding a style="width:75px" to the span doesn't work either.
I'm at a loss as to how I can ovveride this style to make all my span's line up regardless of text length.
Code example: http://www.bootply.com/SvJAiwVavY
I looked at your sample code. From Bootstrap, the .input-group-addon class has a display property set to table-cell, so there is no need to do anything other than set an appropriate width. If you set a width that is smaller than the contained text, it's not going to look like it has changed. Try changing your example code to the following:
.input-group-addon.test {
width: 200px !important;
}
You may want to change your text-align to something other than center, but that's up to you.
I've looked all over google and to be honest there aren't that many articles to answer a question as specific as this one , and i've tried going through the interface.
So when you make a new page , you have a body , and by default , that body has some margin's between it and the browser window , now i've managed to take care of the top and bottom one so there's no padding on the browser window ( a.k.a. margin's on the body ) but there's still space between the browser and the body on the left and the right side.
So how can i make my body's width be 100% of the browser's window because there's no width setting for the body , but only the page ( the browser window area).
body {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}
Okay here is the best I can do...
Aside from going to Page > Page properties > metadata and adding your own css file. what you can do is go to the rectangle tool and expand it to whatever height you want, however you MUST make sure that you expand the width to the edges of the web canvas past the body border until the tooltip displays 100%. afterwards embed whatever you want in there. but bewarned, the more complex the object the more custom coding you need to add.
Hope this helps
There is a way to make an object 100% the width of a browser. It's not so obvious and it's hidden:
Draw a rectangular box and fill the box with photo (scale to fit), set color to none.
Resize the rectangular box to the same width of the canvas (page size).
The combination of the procedures above activates 100% width on the object.
Be sure you are using "browser fill" and not just "fill".
The fill one will fill in a box in the center....
Browser fill will literally fill the whole page. Got stuck on this for ages!
There is a simple one-click solution for 100% width, which I just came across in this awesome article after having trouble getting my footer to go all the way across on wide screen laptops...
In your top toolbar between the X/Y and W/H inuts, there is a little box with an arrow that points either way. Hover over it and you will see that it says '100%'.
click it and you're done!!!

I have an unordered list on the left side i use as tabs to change a picture on the right side. The problem i have is that in IE the image is a few pix wider than in all other browsers so it displays below where i need it to be displayed. example here at www.widgiteer.com.
BTW the black part is the test image i am using that is the correct size just as a place holder for future images.
I am also having trouble making the left tabs change color on hover but i think that is a different question :/
Make sure you are setting all your margins to zero, since browsers add different padding and margins to their elements. So add a global selector to your css...
* {margin: 0; padding: 0}
also make sure your images have not borders:
img {border: none;}
final solution: Your doctype was set incorrectly.
I am seeking some advice regarding unnecessary scrollbars appearing on certain form items. A screenshot of the issue appears below. Note it is the right-most scrollbar that is unnecessary.
bad_scrollbars http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/9307/scrollfu.png
The culprit appears to be the following css, adding overflow: auto; to form items within windows in gecko-based browsers (the problem appears on Firefox):
.ext-gecko .x-window-body .x-form-item {
outline: medium none;
overflow: auto;
}
Removing this style solves the problem, but I am wary of possible side effects - though I haven't noticed any as yet, this style was obviously included for a reason.
Does anyone who knows more about Ext styling know if overriding this css to remove the overflow: auto; style will cause other problems?
As an aside, this is only an issue (so far) with a certain component - a custom extension of the Ext.ux.form.MultiSelect component - even though other components use more vertical space. Does anyone know of a possible reason for this?
Thanks for any help.
overflow: auto tells the browser to add a scrollbar to the element if the content of the element is larger than the elements client area minus any padding. Getting rid of the scrollbars in CSS does exactly that. It makes the scrollbars go away, no matter what.
The side effect of your work around is if there is content outside of the client, the use will not be able to see it. Additionally, this will not only happen with this form but every form in your application unless you apply your workaround in a custom class.
The right fix is to figure out why your content area is larger than the form's client area. Firebug can be a big help with this as you can inspect the DOM and see the size of the container as well as the size of all the child items.
I suspect that your clear selections control (is this a custom control?) is not properly sizing itself (i.e in your form layout you're telling it to be x pixels high but it's actually sizing itself x+1 (remember margins and padding). The form layout is doing all the work to decide how big to make the wrapper area (the area with the scroll bar) and the control must fit within that area.
I am new to CSS, so please bear with me. I have this form which I'm trying to style. Everything works fine, except the confirmation label which is in a div. I want some space to be there between div.field, and while this works for all the input elements, it doesn't work for the label message which is at the bottom. I tried increasing margin-top, but to no avail. I would like that element to be positioned in the center.
Using the web-developer addon of Firefox, it shows me that the width and height of div.field of label tag specifically is 284px and 209px respectively. Why is this so, when I haven't set it that way?
You can view the code live at jsfiddle: http://www.jsfiddle.net/yMHJY/
The solution is simple, really. Add a margin-top to the parent of the label element, and add overflow: hidden to the div#contact div .field selector.
However, can I just say that the code can be rewritten for much better efficiency and semantic correctness. For instance, I would contain the last massage in a p tag and not a label in a div. Also, I would have each input element placed in an unordered list ul instead of divs. You also have a lot of unnecessary floats and the br at the end of each input is wholly uneeded. Oh, and unless you are embedding Calluna somehow, don't use it - stick to web safe fonts (and if you are, you still need to suggest an alternative, in the user's browser does not support it, and also to give the browser something to display while the font loads).
Edit
Fixed the load for ya, I should be paid for this kind of stuff :) Just stick to better HTML and CSS next time.

To center you could add a parent container
<div id="parent">
<label id="label">Your Message Has Been Sent</label>
</div>
div#parent {
text-align:center;
}
or add an id to your original parent div to target it with above css
with regards to the margin, you seem to have an issue with a float:left being set in the
div#contact div input[type=text] class. You need to clear this as it could be causing you margin problems. Try removing this and amending your styles. Why are you floating the inputs left?
