How to I start contributing to Aptana Studio 3? - aptana

I want to fix some issues with rvm and Aptana Studio 3. Is there a CONTRIBUTING.md somewhere I can use to bootstrap my environment to develop the plugin?

Aptana mantains their repos at github. Also, you can search in the tracker if there is any item related to your issue open, or open a new one yourself asking for help.

How to Update Aptana Studio to the latest?

I have Aptana 3.1.1 installed and want to update it to 3.1.3, the latest version. How could i do that?
I have tried the "Check for Updates" under "Help" menu, and it said "No updates were found". I guess that a update site needs to be added, is it?
Hope I don't have to download the latest version to update Aptana...
Thanks for any help.
The problem is that the update sites list is empty. To add a list, just import the list in the .xml file provided by Aaron K here.
Please try the suggestions here, in particular the steps under No updates were found section.
Said in offical is http://update.aptana.com/update/studio/3.4 But there is nothing.
One of this is works for me. but the version is toooo old.
http://download.aptana.com/studio3/plugin/update/
http://download.aptana.com/studio3-rcp/plugin/update/
So found this
Aptana Studio Beta Updates:
http://preview.appcelerator.com/aptana/studio3/plugin/update/beta/
Aptana Studio Nightly Updates:
http://preview.appcelerator.com/aptana/studio3/plugin/update/nightly/
Now, I use the beta version. :-)

Is there such a thing as a nightly build for Aptana Studio, and from where can we download it?

There's a bug for a feature I use in the recent update of Aptana Studio. The bug tracker implies the issue is fixed, but implies that it will be included in an update in late May. Does Aptana Studio have nightly builds that can be downloaded and if so from where?
I can't find anything in the forums or from google and the options on git hub look older and not official.
Yes. Go to http://preview.appcelerator.com where you can download nightly versions.
Here is a link that shows how to get latest updates from Aptana Studio.
What is the official release update URL for Aptana Studio 3.0?
(Another answer here gave a link to Appcelerator.)
Here is how to get the beta version:
http://preview.appcelerator.com/aptana/studio3/standalone/update/beta/
Release Candidate:
http://preview.appcelerator.com/aptana/studio3/standalone/update/rc/
This url can be used within Aptana to update to the nightly builds, but I have not tried it. It is for the plugin version of Aptana:

Remove addons from Aptana Studio 3 (e.g. PyDev)

Aptana is a very heavy program.
I do not need Ruby/Python, how can I remove these plugins/addons to make it lighter for what I do?
Also how would I delete 'bundles' under the commands submenu?
It's not really possible to remove those items in the built application at the moment. There is some discussion about providing a very simple installer with one-click installs of extra languages, but we don't yet have an ETA on that. You can follow this ticket https://jira.appcelerator.org/browse/APSTUD-4583 for more information.
Maybe you could do it in reverse. If Aptana is built on Eclipse, maybe there's a way to install Eclipse and then selectively install plugins to make it effectively equivalent to Aptana.

I need to set up eclipse with flex plugin

I want to work with flex from eclipse, could you tell me how to install the flex plugin within eclipse:
What version of eclipse do I need?
Where can I download the flex plugin?
Thanks in advance.
I have not tried Flex with Eclipse, I know for sure you can work with NetBeans IDE using FlexBean plugin. You can find the Eclipse/Flex plugin details below.
http://www.darronschall.com/weblog/2005/08/setting-up-eclipse-for-flex.cfm
Hope this helps.
Go to https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=flash_builder and download the Eclipse Plug-in of Flash Builder 4.
The installer will allow you to install the plugin into an existing Eclipse installation. One of the installation steps lets you select the Eclipse installation folder.
The system requirements state that the plugin works with "Eclipse 3.4.2 or 3.5". However, in my experience it works fine in Eclipse 3.6 too.

Does FlexBuilder 3 work with Eclipse 3.5.1?

I m trying to install Flex Builder 3 into Eclipse 3.5.1 as a plugin on Mac 10.6.2.
During the installation phase, FB3 says it only support eclipse 3.3 & 3.4. But I started the installation anyway.
After the installation was done, I can't find Flex perspective from Eclipse. So I google around and found out the possible way to manually add this link file from folder "links" to point to the FB3 Plugin folder. I did that and FB perspective can be shown now. But when I try to switch to FB perspective, error occurs:
Problems opening perspective:
'com.adobe.flexbuilder.editors.mxml.ui.perspectives.development'
Anyone has done this successfully?
Unfortunately Eclipse 3.5 is unsupported by Flex Builder 3. There are a few bugs for this:
http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FB-21025
http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FB-21284
Please comment on those bugs and vote for them.
I've created a work-around for one of the major issues related to displaying problems.
