I am working with asp.net and I want to install DotNetnuke (I really need to install it). I have installed it on another computer in the company where I am doign my internship there. But I can't install it on my laptop :#.
First of all I have installed IIS (7.5 didn't worked, after that 8.0) and went through the steps in the 4 part video on how to install dotnetnuke (here is the first part: First Part)
After I did all that, I went to start the isntallation by typing www.dnndev.me on the browser... and I got the error http 500.19 error.... I fixed it by checking some options in the Turn Widnows features on or of (at Programs and Features in Control Panel).
After that I got the error http 500.21 .... I also fixed this by executing aspnet_regiis.exe.
And after executing that .exe file, when I typed www.dnndev.me, all errors where gone... but the Browser couldn't find www.dnndev.me !! I tried it on Chrome, Mozilla and IE... but non of them worken :(..
What's the problem? I removed all the errors, I did all the things in the videos.... why not working on my laptop?
Did you add the binding to IIS for DNNDEV.ME as well as WWW.DNNDEV.ME? The video instructs you to use DNNDEV.ME which is different than WWW.DNNDEV.ME, so you will need to add the binding for WWW if you want to access that.
Right click on the website in IIS, choose Edit Bindings and add the new one there.

I'm trying to learn how to create a custom WordPress theme. I've been following a tutorial, and I was trying to install DesktopServer onto my MacBook Pro (to create a local environment.)
But I'm not able to install it because it's stating that
"It appears that you have another web server already running. DesktopServer cannot be installed. Check that you do not have Web Sharing turned on from your System Preference -> Sharing control panel or turn off and remove your other web server."
I've checked my Sharing settings, and nothing is enabled (including internet sharing.) So that must mean I have a web server already running. But I don't know what that would be.
Is there a way for me to find out what web server my mac is running?
And after that, is there a way for me to disable that so I could possibly use DesktopServer instead.
I've really good with writing HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc., but I'm pretty new to the server and hosting and stuff. I honestly don't understand everything yet.
I had the same problem, and the solution that worked for me was here:
https://zachgoll.github.io/blog/2018/serverpress-error/
By default, Mac OSX has an Apache server running in the background
which conflicts with Serverpress by default.
To turn it off, run sudo apachectl stop.
A forced Windows 10 update installed successfully. The update history shows "2017-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4025342)" among a total of 45 other updates installed on 7/29/2017.
After updating and attempting to launch my project in the debugger, which has always worked before:
I now get a blank page for every URL. I'm debugging in IIS Express on localhost. View Source yields an absolutely blank page also (this is definitely not the IIS file association problem that I've seen documented).
I did absolutely nothing else (to cause this) besides install Windows 10 (and I wouldn't have if MS didn't force me to). After this I did a clean/rebuild completely from scratch, I then removed the Bin folder, re-installed all the NuGet packages, still exactly the same result, F5 launches the web application in debug mode and launches the page as usual but it is completely blank. It does not execute any code, Page_Load is not called.
Visual Studio 2017 made no difference
I switched to IIS and got a 500.19 error with 0x80020021 error code which this page 500.19 error with IIS7.5 addresses, after unlocking the two subsections of system.web.server that were locked (why were they locked?)
it now returns 404.3 Not Found, with:
-- It is possible that a handler mapping is missing. By default, the static file handler processes all content. (well, not .aspx pages!)
-- The feature you are trying to use may not be installed. (somehow maybe this is true, but how?)
-- The appropriate MIME map is not enabled for the Web site or application.
(Warning: Do not create a MIME map for content that users should not download, such as .ASPX pages or .config files.) (right... there should not be a MIME map entry for .ASPX)
-- If ASP.NET is not installed. (how could this be?)
ASP.NET installation -- it is built in to Windows 10, I installed the .NET developer packs and tried 4.5.2, 4.6.1 and 4.7, No change.
In summary: nothing has helped. With IIS Express, or IIS, same problem. All .aspx urls return a completely blank page and no code in the code-behind .cs files gets executed. Fiddler says 503 (but 503 is not shown in the browser, either Edge or Chrome).
Latest unsuccessful effort: I went back to the previous build (rolled back the latest Windows update) by selecting "Go back to an earlier build" from "Update Settings/Windows Update/Update History" and I still have the problem. So, either I'm really stuck now, or I've opened up a lot of possibilities based on a wrong assumption that it was the update that caused the problem. Something is corrupt? Something changed in my project that I'm not aware of? Corrupt: I ran the system file scanner, sfc /scannow and it found no problems. Back to the drawing board...
Success!... OK, so the problem wasn't just Windows 10 Update directly breaking something which I wondered how that was possible, but it sure seemed like it.
I have now rebuilt my solution from scratch, creating a new web site project in VS and pouring the minimum number of files in first, basically Login and some utilities, enough to build and test and see that it worked. Then in about 3 doses I added everything else and it kept on working. I also reloaded all the Nuget packages, and switched from .NET 4.5.2 to .NET 4.6.1. (so I broke the rule of only 1 change). I did a full compare with Beyond Compare and the only differences are some obsolete page files that I just left out of the new one, and the binaries and the different build target (.NET 4.6.1).
Could the Windows update have broken/corrupted a binary? It force rebooted my system which I can't stand. Who knows... maybe, it was quite a coincidence. Oh well.
I'm attempting to create a custom WordPress theme using MS WebMatrix and am encountering the following error when trying to install the WP app:
Error 2738: Could not access VBScript runtime for custom action
This occurs when the download attempts to install Web Deploy 3.5. I'm currently running Windows 7 64-bit OS.
The research that I've done indicates this is error stems from "VBScript being not properly configured to run on the PC."
The solutions I've encountered and tried - to no avail - are:
Run MS FixIT
Re-registering the VBScript dll via cmd prompt - c:\windows\syswow64\regsvr32 vbscript.dll
Run the System File Checker tool sfc /scannow
[Note: I do not have, nor have I had McAfee installed - I've seen reports that in some instances the McAfee installation can cause the wrong vbscript .dll to be registered]
Outside of doing a factory wipe - which I'd like to reserve as a last resort or completely scrap using WebMatrix entirely - I've run out of potential solutions searching this specific problem.
Has anyone had success with this issue outside of the solutions posted here already? Any help would be appreciated.
So, I discovered a solution to this issue that hasn't been covered well online, so I'm posting it here.
A steadfast solution to resolving this error if running Windows 7 64-bit OS:
Open your registry editor
Start -> Search -> Type "regedit"
In the editor, click on:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\Wow6432Node\CLSID{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}\InprocServer32
Check the value for (Default)
If it's anything other than C:\Windows\SysWOW64\vbscript.dll that's where your issue is originating
Make sure you have the correct permissions to edit the value for (default)
Right Click on InprocServer32 -> Permissions -> Give yourself "Full Control"
Now edit (Default) and set it to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\vbscript.dll
Reboot
This should fix any issues that might have been encountered during the execution of custom VBScript during Web Deploy download.
We have built a WebDav Service with your Engine and have a one problem when we create a new Folder or File:
The new folder / file is created successfully, but not showing in the Windows Explorer. Only if you press F5, the new folder / file is showing (and the name is already selected to be edited).
This behavior is reproducible even with a blank WebDav Solution.
We can reproduce this on Windows 7 and Windows 8 (8.1) using WebDav .NET Server 3.8 and the latest 3.9.
Is there a way to get around this “refresh-problem”?
I solved this issue but clicking in the folder explorer at view > options > then i restored to default and everything is back to normal.
I assume this issue is in Windows Explorer on a single computer. Most likely the WebDAV server-side code is failing with with some exception. Here are some ideas how to detect what is wrong:
Unmount network connections executing 'net use * /DELETE' in a command prompt, this will unmount WebDAV connections too and simulate 'clean' environment.
Retry reproducing the issue and examine your WebDAV logfile. By default it is located in /App_Data/WebDAV/Logs/ folder. Are there any exceptions in it?
Use Fiddler tool or any other debugging proxy to capture and examine HTTP requests. Are there any failed requests?
In case you are creating a folder/file on one computer using Windows Explorer (Microsoft Mini-redirector driver) or IT Hit Ajax File Browser and expect the files list to refresh automatically on another computer this would not work. Mini-redirector does not support any notifications from server and WebDAV does not submit any notifications, you need to refresh the files list manually to see the new items created.
I found this video on Youtube that explains in very much detail how to fix this problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUiCPsQquqc
It is a bit lengthy, so I'll just quickly sum it up here:
The reason for these problems are one or more (broken) Shell Extensions that prevent the refresh of the Windows Explorer
To fix it, open up regedit.exe (requires admin privileges), do a search for the Registry Key "DontRefresh". If it is "1", set it to "0". There might be multiple matches for that Key, so repeat until all Keys have the value "0".
This might not work immediately, you may have to kill and restart your explorer.exe process (easiest to do with the Task Manager). Or you can simply reboot your computer. In my case, it worked immediately.
According to the video, the Keys should only be located under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID, but in my case I could only find such Keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Classes/Wow6432Node/CLSID.
I figured it makes most sense to simply search the complete Registry, it does not take very long.
I tred a lot of hacks, from scanning the system, to recreating the profile to hacking Registry keys and hives.
Finally what worked for me -
Right click on desktop
Select Personalize
Click Themes
Click Change desktop icons
Click Restore default & OK
And instantly it began to auto refresh with a new folder, rename, delete, copy, etc.
I have one asp.net application which I debug locally using IIS Express.
I have a setup by which I access it as http//machine-name:port/appname (instead of localhost).
This works smoothly until suddenly out of the blue during debugging I get the message:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
What ever I do, it does not work again until I restart Windows.
Has anyone faced this issue before? Is there a way to fix this without restarting Windows?
I am using Windows 7 with Visual Studio 2010, but this also happens in VS 2012.
EDIT This issue stopped occurring. which leads me to believe this was Microsoft bug which they fixed in one of their updates
Just taking a stab in the dark, since you aren't getting any responses... Try deleting (or even just rename) the applicationHost.config under "My Documents\IISExpress\config", then open VS.net and run your project again. A new IISExpress config file will get generated for you. I have had mine junked up with something in the past, and starting fresh with a new one fixed whatever it was.
I have faced the same issue in a perticular scenario.
It was like, Page_Load event of 1st page contains code to redirect response to 2nd page and Page_Load event of 2nd page contains code to redirect response back to 1st page.
So due to this browser response fell into infinite loop and it shows message: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".
So I'll suggest you to check the response redirection logic which may be causing problem.
If you work with a DI framework like Ninject and you are doing changes on your services dependencies, beware not to generate a circular dependency. When starting up the application you might get this same error.
