I'm using a Google maps iframe to display the location of my customer on his webpage. Works fine, but when viewed on Ipad the Google server apparently sends a different version of the maps. It looks like this:
Now, that wouldn't be a problem, but the two buttons on the bottom (i marked them in red), which I'm assuming are supposed to allow routing or something, don't do anything when being clicked?!
Has anyone an idea what my problem here might be? And how I either get those buttons to work (preferred solution) or else get them to disappear?
You can get rid of them by reducing size (height) of your iFrame and adding overflow:hidden style.
They don't work for me either. I seen this bug. But it's not the first time Google screws something on mobile devices (Google News for example somehow thinks my PC is a Tablet), so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Eventually hopefully they'll figure it out.

I'm having an issue with my website http://www.ben-drury.co.uk/ (I know the content sounds dumb, but it's my first attempt at a portfolio and it's not finished) where the formatting of the text is very peculiar under a specific set of circumstances.
When loading any post or page in Google Chrome, if I remain in the tab for the duration of the loading it looks like the image below, which is perfect and exactly what I want.
However if I start loading the webpage in a new tab and don't instantly navigate to that new tab, or indeed if I refresh the page and navigate away from the tab, when I come back it looks like the image below.
Interestingly it seems to work absolutely fine in Internet Explorer and Firefox, so initially I thought that it might be an issue with my installation of Google Chrome. However testing it on other computers resulted in the same thing happening, and a variety of different ways of phrasing the issue has turned up very little.
So essentially, how do I fix it for Google Chrome users?
(For those that cannot see the images, the text in the post placed as an example runs outside of the box it should be displayed in and often lines appear over the top of each other around hyper links.)
Update:
I've managed to fix the issue for pages by removing the justified alignment of the text. However I have made said change to the posts as well yet the problem persists for them.
So after a little more delving into the issue, I came to the conclusion that not only was the idea of web safe fonts actually a load of miss-represented nonsense, but that Google fonts might be the way to go. After installing a plugin for Google fonts onto WordPress and making all my posts use one by default, my problem has been entirely resolved and I can even have justified text on my posts and pages.
I am experiencing the following (strange) bug:
When my site is seen on iPhone 4 (haven't tested on 5), an extra "Search web" bar appears when scrolling up and down. It slows down the browsing dramatically. It happens on both Safari and Chrome. It doesn't happen on other sites on the same device (so it is not a problem with the phone itself or its browse).
I cannot find any similar reports on the internet.
Has anybody seen something like this?
Could you have a look at my site www.justrunlah.com and check if something is wrong?
Can you even reproduce it?

thanks a lot in advance
Try hiding the search bar within your website (header-search) and see if the problem still exists (just to test to see if its your own searchbar that's causing the problem).
It was some sneaky code added by a plug-in.
More specifically: Sweet Captcha used a code connected to Errnio to monetize
I removed the plug in and it's gone

I am at a loss with why one page on a site that just went live is misbehaving on iPhone (and possibly others at 320 to 480 px wide.
I have used various simulators that have never let me down before (screenfly & iphone5 simulator) plus I have tested the responsiveness using browser resize and for some reason none of these methods can replicate the issue so I cannot find a way to correct the problem. I have cleared my cache and tried from a different phone.
The Problem:
Visit (site removed) from a phone and notice that this is the only page on the website that does not fill the devices screen. Visit any other page and you will see that the rest all fill the page normally.
If someone can point me in a direction to reproduce the problem (not on a phone) where I can access developer tools I should be able to correct the problem on my own.
I have tried reviewing my code to see what is different about that page in comparison to every other page and cannot find what appears to be causing the problem.
Some help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
In Google Chrome on Phone it's ok!
Check your settings about responsive and specific browsers settings in CSS..
Good Luck, please give photo from Phone.
Okay, I found the issue. Was able to find a div element with in the contact form that had a fixed width and although the content within the form was properly set the div was pushing the entire page over.
This may sound like a SuperUser issue, but I wrote the page in question and I'm wondering if there is something I can do to fix the problem....
I have a page in production that simlply displays data in a bunch of tables. Our employees basically go to this page to print a form with our clients information filled in for them. Today for a specific client the page is not printing. I've tried printing using IE 7 and 8 as well as Chrome on Windows XP and Windows 7. This client's data is by no means make the page longer or contain more data that others clients.
Symptoms:
Does NOT print using IE8 or IE7 on WinXP and Windows 7.
DOES print with Chrome.
The page to print is displayed fine as a far as the actual web page goes... it scrolls, there are no errors and and nothing seems to be wrong with the page.
When using IE to print, the document just spools with out actually printing out...I end up canceling the document from the printers window.
When viewing print preview the first page is displayed, but when we try to go to the second page in the print preview IE locks up.
This does not happen for every client, but when it does happen it can be reproduced.
The page is pretty long and has client info that is keeping me from just copy and pasting the markup for you guys. I am hopeing that some one else has experienced a similiar issue in IE and has some advice.
NOTE: The users are not allowed to use other browsers, so save the IE flamming please.
Hmmm, very hard to tell without markup.
Just to throw some ideas:
Are you using anything difficult on the pages, like Flash or Java?
Custom fonts / cufon?
Huge downscaled images?
opacity or IE specific crazy filter CSS rules?
A huge structure that IE doesn't manage to break up into pages, e.g. a giant table with position: absolute ?
If you use images, try turning off the images. Try turning off CSS.
A few things to try when debugging:
Switch everything over to a standard font and font size (e.g. Arial 12px).
Eliminate all CSS and JavaScript, and if that fixes it then you can narrow down from there by taking out chunk by chunk until it starts working.
If that doesn't work, try cutting down the content significantly to see if it will show up.
I have a modified version of a flex calendar found Here, and though it looks alright on most computers I've seen, there is a problem on two of the three servers here. Because of the way Citrix is setup here, I need to have it functional on all of the servers.
When it loads, everything is stretched out vertically, and the numbers are missing on the date boxes. If you mouse-over the flex buttons, they jump to the right size, but there is still rendering errors.
The modifications I made had no effect, because the servers give the same results on both my version and the demo version hosted online. As far as I can tell, the servers are identical (IE version, Flash version, etc.)
How can I get it to display normally?
Initial View
After Mouseover
Usual Demo
Demo in bad server
Edit: On the server that renders it improperly, Firefox renders it fine, but Firefox cannot be used for other (unchangeable) reasons.
From the images it appears this is how the SWF appears in the Browser of each server - one good and one bad. Not how the SWF appears in any browser while being hosted from each server.
Sense it is the browser display that is not working correctly I would assume it is a rendering problem with the browser and not the server.
1.) The problem could come from JavaScript being disabled in one of the browsers and the view being taken from the embed tag. Check to ensure that it looks the same with JavaScript both on and off.
2.) The height being 100% could also be messing it up in the browser. Try setting the height to a specific value (800px) and see if that corrects the problem.
3.) Make sure that the browsers are the same. Is one IE 7 and one IE 8? If they are the same, check the version number to ensure that all updates are the same for each.
4.) View the site from another computer that is connected to the server.
Number 1 and 2 would be my best guess as a way to troubleshoot.
