I have just finished my own web app and I am looking at which is the best UK based web hosting solution? I would be grateful for any input as I am finding it very difficult to cut through the cr*p.
Thanks,
Adrian
Not sure if it's really for this site, as it's not directly programming per se...
Anyway, I use Hosting UK for my web hosting, .NET 4.0 and SQL 2008 databases are all available, and a medium trust environment so you can include other binaries in your application.
I've also found their support to be very good.
We host with NimbusHosting and are extremely pleased with their service. They offer VPS packages, both Windows and Linux.
We currently only use Linux, so I unfortunately cannot verify what edition of SQL Server they allow (most likely Express).

I would like to package an asp.net mvc up for a 1 day demo if possible. The demo can be done on a local machine or I am willing to pay for simple hosting if it is a fast deployment.
Any recommendations?
If you need to demo it locally, you can just use IIS or IIS Express which should let you run in any Windows and any SKU. you can easily install that using Web Platform Installer.
But I would really consider using Microsoft Azure, which will give you 10 free web sites, no commitment, no tricks.
In fact you can even try it without creating an account or anything, go to:
https://tryappservice.azure.com/
or you can get $200 for a month and 10 perpetually free web sites just by going to: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/free-trial/
best thing is that there is tight integration with Visual Studio, and gives you a great way to learn the cloud.

I want to create a Website for that I am using asp.net technology,Since I am Actually Buying a domain and web hosting space for it. Before that I have question regarding some doubts.
I have seen Website http://www.bigrock.in/ . As everyone Knows that Asp.net is platform dependent and I want my Website should open everywhere with same look and feel. And Someone have told me there will be no issue for platform Dependency,You only need to choose Server with windows and deploy Your website there. and after that everybody will be able to open website with same look. Now My question is that if that's the thing is there then why the issue of platform Independent for(java EE,Php) website is there.
Please Clarify my doubts.
Platfrom independence in this case is only a concern for the server, not the client.
A normal asp.net website can be openened in all mainstream browsers, on Mac, Linux or Windows or mobile clients. So it will work everywere.
ASP.net is platform dependent.
This is not true.
An asp.net website can be installed on any web-server provided it has .net framework installed on it. Most modern age windows servers has it. Hence, whoever told you that
choose Server with windows and deploy Your website there. and after
that everybody will be able to open website with same look
Is right.
When somebody accesses your website's page asp.net generates HTML content which is sent to client which is platform independent. Hence all clients will get same look and feel.

We had the problem when the CPU util on a single core machine went to 100 %. The number of users is 8-10 on a server hosted at the ISP end. When the server was upgraded to 4 core, the same problem persists. We have used Hibernate and JSF for implementation and MySQL as the backend. I strongly feel it is a problem with the JBOSS configuration but unable to fix it. Kindly help
I doubt that anyone is going to be able to help you on this without significantly information than you have provided ... and could reasonably provide in an SO question.
The best I can suggest is that you use jvisualvm and jconsole ... and the host operating system's system monitoring tools ... to try to get a handle on where your system's resources are being used.

I realise it's vry soon after launching, but I'm keen to develop website in 4.0, but obviously need a host.
If there are none hosting 4.0 yet, any one aware of timescales.
UK hosts needed.
edit:
I would like to use GREEN HOSTING, so anyone aware of UK host supporting .net 4.0 using green energy!
Thanks
Discount ASP.Net currently offer:
.Net 4.0 hosting
European (actually UK 1) or US based
support for ASP.Net MVC2
.Net RIA services
I signed up for their free .Net 4.0 sandbox environment a few weeks ago, but haven't really played with it so cannot comment on their quality of service and support. They do seem to be widely used though, and the free offer was mentioned by Brad Abrams from Microsoft.
1 Data centre details
The disadvantage of DiscountASP.NET is that they don't offer MySQL databases and you have to pay extra for Microsoft SQL DB.
After a lot of searching I have found Arvixe web hosting which offers unlimited x (where x is whatever you want) and they have .NET 4.0.
I could not find information about their "greenness".
DiscountASP.NET does.
have you had a chance to look at asphostcentral.com? This host provides asp.net 4.0 hosting at a mush more affordable price than other host + great reasonable amount of features?
Truly, if you guys are looking for alternatives, asphostcentral is worth checking :-)
