Does anyone know how to encrypt the following url holding values for phpThumb implemented in MODX so that it is stil readable to phpThumb extension?
As an example, the url for generated image looks like this:
/assets/components/gallery/connector.php?action=web/phpthumb&src=%2Fassets%2Fgallery%2F2%2Ftest.jpg&w=600
What I would like to achieve is to have this url encrypted so that a user would not be able to edit the image himself. Let's imagine applying watermark to an image using fltr, fltr would be part of the image url which if removed would remove watermark as well.
I have already looked into the Gallery Extra model and know where to look for the url constructor, yet I have no clue to which file the variables of the image url are passed to.
This means that I'm able to encrypt the image url but can't figure out where the decrypt function needs to be placed in order for phpThumb to read it correctly
By "user" I mean any site visitor without manager access.
Any ideas?
Might be a bit late but had the same issue...
Solved by using [[+image_absolute]] as placeholder for the img-tag so "src=[[+image_absolute]]"

That is a local URL, so they have to be stored locally on your machine and loaded in by a file located on your machine.
If I am reading this correctly than just do what the image says. It isn't that hard. I did it countless times. If you mean like how to hide domain names in the link than refer to this link and scroll down and go to the "external" tutorial area. And if you mean like in javascript than refer to this link and go to the external part of the page. If this didn't help you or I misunderstood than please put more information.
I use REST API to share articles/posts on LinkedIn Timeline and Company pages. To do so, I authorize my LI profile with the APP for accessing the profile info. As a result, could view the profile/image of a user in the APP. Everything worked fine until, for some time now, aren't able to view the user profile image from the APP. Now, it looks like:

Are you injecting the URL in same way that's escaping it? The URL recently changed and has some characters that templating engines such as Handlebars will mistakenly escape.
If you inject the URL without escaping it, it should work just fine.

The problem which I was facing was the image loaded sometimes, but after some days it would give above error.

Nope. The data is encoded in the image. In the future you could use a forwarding service (like tinyurl or goo.gl), they might enable you to edit the address it is forwarded to.
You can't change the url but you can put a html redirection on the actual destination page.

I have client code for large project, their logo is on master page, which he updates weekly.
I have to update the title, image path, etc. on all the server and also upload a new image on all servers, now he wants to automate this process.
What is the best way to accomplish this? I have thought about storing the information (including Image) in database with single record and each time client update this single record when they want. But on each page, the logo image will come from database. Is it ok or should we cache or some other option to reduce load each time? Can we update page(.aspx) file using filestream like we can update text file? because if I update aspx from code then we don't have call any SQL, just upload an image, update the title and other information in aspx page.
Very simple. If the client wants to update something on their own without requiring developer intervention, it needs to go in the database. You can of course add any caching or whatever you like so that it's not necessary to query the database each request.
The only other viable alternative would be giving the client access to the directory that has the logo and insist on a convention for the logo filename. The client can then simply upload a new logo with the same filename and nothing needs to change on the site.
Making changes to the page itself automatically is a hugely bad idea. Avoid that like the plague.
I suppose a final though not bloody likely option is to get the client to realize that a logo shouldn't freaking be changed weekly or even yearly. It's a freaking logo; it's your identifying mark to the public.

You'll have to save the image in some folder on your website, and use a URL to link to that image. Since this is going to be done for every request, I'm guessing you can understand this is not a best practice.
The correct way to do this is save all images in a single directory on your website, and in the DB only store the URL for that image.
