how to change specific column style in GWT celltable - css

I am trying to make a specific column to blue color.
For that I am using
clientsTable.addColumnStyleName(3,"nameColumn");
And the CSS is:
nameColumn {
color:blue;
}
but it's not doing anything whereas if I change my CSS to this
nameColumn {
background-color:blue;
}
it works, i.e make header color red , but why is not changing text color ?
thanks

addColumnStyleName adds the CSS class to a <col> element in the DOM, and only a handful CSS properties apply there (see also browser compatibility table)
You'd want to apply a CSS class to each cell in the column instead, using Column#setCellStyleNames()

Try
.nameColumn {
color: blue !important;
}

how to apply css to multiple line class selector

how do you apply a specific css to second-page
HTML
<div className = "section-header second-page">SOME MESSAGE</div>
Assuming the above:
CSS
.section-header {
background-color: black,
}
i want to apply a different background color specifically to second-page that does not modify section-header.
If you want the styling to apply to any element with .second-page class you should use:
.second-page {
backgound-color: red,
}
If you want the styling to apply only to .section-header elements that also have .second-page class, then you should use:
.section-header.second-page {
backgound-color: red,
}
When there's no space between two classes, it means it refers to an element with both classes.
For more information on CSS selectors, please check
https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css_selectors.asp
Your HTML should be:
<div class="section-header second-page">SOME MESSAGE</div>
Your CSS could be:
.second-page {
background-color: black,
}
You can mix multiple classes within the HTML or target them separately.

How to change the background color of the tooltip only in grid in Kendo UI MVC?

In my page,I use tooltip which class name is .tooltipcell to the grid cell,and also use tooltip which class name is .tooltipbtn to the button.Now I want to change the background color of the tooltip in grid,but I do not want to affect the background color of the button tooltip.How to do that?I use to codes below,it affects the two tooltip.
method1:both effect
.k-widget.k-tooltip{
background-color:red; //set the desired color
}
method2:both effect
div .k-widget.k-tooltip{
background-color:red; //set the desired color
}
JS
show: function (e) {
e.sender.popup.element.addClass('red-tooltip');
},
and CSS
.red-tooltip {
background-color: #f00 !important;
}
You can do this:
.tooltipcell{background-color:green;}
.tooltipbtn{background-color:green;}
Just incase your div .k-widget.k-tooltip might overwrite the style you may have to target it deeper like this:
div .k-widget.tooltipcell{background-color:green;}
div .k-widget.tooltipbtn{background-color:green;}
The is an amendment to MarioD Answer.
I didn't test it but given that it works, a better practice would be to concatenate these classes. It saves size in the css and improves loading time. Do this:
div .k-widget.tooltipcell, div .k-widget.tooltipbtn {
background-color:green;
}
I had the same problem where I was using kendo tooltip. I wanted to change the CSS of the tooltips only in one place leaving the rest of the tooltips intact.
Using css the normal way to do this would be to use target .widget and .k-tooltip CSS classes.
Although this would change all the tooltips within a page.
So, since I wanted to change only one tooltip (same problem as this post) I had to do a JS approach.
So, I had to use the show function of kendo's tooltip.
Example:
$('.target')..kendoTooltip({
position: 'bottom',
showAfter: 1000,
content: 'test',
function(e) {
e.sender.popup.element.addClass('customClass');
}
}).data('kendoTooltip');
I will try to post here a jsfiddle in few moments.

JavaFX CSS combine styles in CSS file

I have two base CSS classes:
.smpb_color_gray {
color:#cccccc;
}
.smpb_font_size_18 {
font-size:18pt;
}
I wonder if it's possible to create one class which will contains both these classes? With name .smpb_my_combine_class and it must have color:#cccccc and fontSize:18pt.
I want to create one class and then use them on other classes.
Like I want to create:
.smpb_base_border_width{
border-width:1;
}
And then I want to create a class for other control, I want to just include this class, but not create a new class. It's needed if I want to change the default width in future.
If I make a change in the base, then I need that change in all classes.
In regards to JavaFX2, in the .root element you can define a property, such as -smpb-color-gray:#cccccc; and then reference that within another css class.
.root {
-smpb-color-gray: #cccccc;
-smpb-font-size: 18pt;
}
.smpb_my_combine_class {
-fx-text-fill: -smpb-color-gray;
-fx-font: -smpb-font-size;
}
I used -fx-text-fill because I didn't know exactly what you were trying to color.
Does that fit into your criteria?
try this
.smpb_font_size_18,.smpb_color_gray{
color:#cccccc;
font-size:18pt;
}
You can assign multiple classes to one html element like this
<div class="border black"></div>
but you cannot combine multiple classes in one as far as I know.
I haven't really looked into it much, but I think SASS might be able to do what you want.
If you mean using it like this:
.myclass {
.testclass;
}
than the answer is no unless you look into something like LESS.
It is:
.smpb_font_size_18,.smpb_color_gray{
/*whatever style for both*/
}
Basically, what you are asking is what Cascading Style Sheets are all about... Grouping Elements with the same top-level Classes or Ids together. The only thing you would have to do is to create your .smpb_my_combine_class and define the values like this:
.smpb_my_combine_class{
color:#cccccc;
font-size:18pt;
}
And then define your sub classes to replace the top-level class value with the default value like this:
.smpb_my_combine_class .smpb_color_gray{
font-size: medium; //The default value for font-size according to W3C
}
.smpb_my_combine_class .smpb_font_size_18{
color: black; //The default value of your Page font color?
}
So your .smpb_my_combine_class-classed elements will have those default values, as well as each class based on it. But keep in mind that this will only work if your subclass element is contained within an element of the .smpb_my_combine_class-class

css pseudo class, hover on one element changes properties in different element

I was wondering how I could set up css pseudo classes, specifically hover so when I hover over an element, like a div with an id, the properties of a different div with an id get changed?
so normally it would be this:
#3dstack:hover {
listed properties
}
I'm not sure what the change would be to have it hover on div with the id 3dstack and have it change another div.
I do not think that is possible unless the element you want to change the properties of is a descendent or a sibling of the hovered element, in which case you can do:
#myElement:hover #myElementDescendent {
background-color: blue;
}
/*or*/
#myElement:hover + #myElementSibling {
background-color: blue;
}
Of course you can always use jquery to do this:
$("#anelement").hover(
function() {
$("otherelement").css("background-color", "blue");
});
See the differences here
This is not possible with CSS alone. You'll have to use a JavaScript event handler. For example, with jQuery's hover:
$('#3dstack').hover(function() {
$('#otherID').toggleClass('properties');
});
DEMO
Visually you can do this using LESS, but under the hood it's actually using JavaScript.

How to reference a div with class="name1 name2"?

I'm working on some CSS from a tutorial, a div has this class:
<div class="related products">
How can I reference it in the stylesheet?
The div actually has two classes, related and products. You can reference it in your stylesheet with either .related or .products, and it will pick up the styles from both of those rules. For example, with the following CSS, the text in the div in your question would appear red with font size 12:
.related { color:#ff0000 }
.products { font-size:12px }
If you want to select elements with both classes, use .related.products in your stylesheet. For example, add the following to the above example:
.related.products { font-weight:bold }
And the text in your div will receive all three rules, because it matches all 3 selectors. Here's a working example.
div.related.products is the general method
You reference it by div.related.products which literaly translates to "a div with class of related and class of products".
Or, you could reference it by using either class names, since it will catch both.
jsFiddle Example.
In the css, just put the name class of the div by doing this:
.related products {
/*styling to go here*/
}
Now any styling within the related products class will be applied to that div.
