Upgraded from Tridion 5.3 SP1 to Tridion 2011 SP1.
Want to change Httpupload page URL mentioned in Publication Targets, but while saving it Tridion is throwing error
8004D025) Error: Exception of type 'System.EnterpriseServices.TransactionProxyException' was thrown.Unable to save Target type (tcm:0-2-65538).SQLUtilities.GetDatabaseConnectionDataStoreDAL.InitDataStoreBroker.InitDataStoreUtilitiesBL.InitDataStoreTargetTypeBL.UpdateTridion.ContentManager.IdentifiableObject.SaveThroughLegacyBL(String)Tridion.ContentManager.IdentifiableObject.Save(SaveEventArgs)Tridion.ContentManager.IdentifiableObject.Save()Tridion.ContentManager.BLFacade.IdentifiableObjectFacade.Update(UserContext,String)XMLState.SaveTargetType.Save
Note: We are able to update Component and Pages but unable to update/create new Publication Targets as well as Target Types
This is most likely an MSDTC problem. Check if you can reach the database server from the Tridion server using DTCPing.
Update: other people that had similar problems reported that it was caused by their SQL Server cluster and they fact that they needed to open port 135 on their firewall for messages in one direction and ports 1024-5000 for the response messages. Apparently the Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator is even better for troubleshooting than DTCPing as it verifies access to a particular database via SA credentials, server and port.

I'm new to Visual Studio and SQL Server. Basically, I have purchased Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 premium but am having some problems. I have a very basic application with a registration form (CreateUserWizard) and every time I try to run it I get error 26 server instance not found.
"provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating
Server/Instance Specified"
When I open SQL server configuration all of the server instances are stopped SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS), server agent and server browser. When I try to start them it says "the response failed or did not respond in a timely fashion" When I try to edit the filesystem or any of the server settings I get a message "The specified resource name cannot be found in the image file". I tried to refresh my laptop and delete all applications and server instances, but the error still persists. I just wanted to know is there anyway I could reset the SQL server to default setting (I think I may have mistakenly deleted MSSQLSERVER) and reinstall visual studio. It did work on my laptop before. Thanks in advance for all your help. Using visual studio 2010 with VB.net
Got it sorted. Installed SQLSERVER and enabled the server browser during setup.
I've been trying to install the new Microsoft Release Management app that has just been released to MSDN and am having issues
It consists of a server side component for TFS 2013, and a client side component for VS2013
The server side component runs through and says that it is installed fine, but then i can't seem to connect the client side part up to it
After a bit of investigation it seems that the web services site that is installed on the server side is not working properly
It is installed on a Windows 2012 box that is also running TFS 2013, SQL 2012, and SharePoint 2013
If i browse to the newly created ReleaseManagement website I get a 503 (Service Unavailable) message.
I checked out IIS and the app pool had stopped
in the application event log I could see a load of messages saying "current configuration only supports loading images for x86 processor architectures"
I thought this was possibly to do with the "Enable 32-bit Applications" option in the IIS app pool (was set to FALSE)
I changed that to true and tried the site again. This time the app pool doesn't crash, but I get ASP.NET errors stating "Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.ActiveDs' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format."
Has anyone managed to install this yet? Any ideas on what's going wrong here?
I know it's very new, but I'm struggling to find much information about the product at all
Thanks a lot
Here is a link towards some documentation regarding this problem. As pointed out in the comments, it is related to a bug caused by SharePoint: http://support.inreleasesoftware.com/entries/24794668
Interesting section:
The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable.
This error message usually means that the InReleaseAppPool application
pool is stopped. Please ensure that it is started. If the application
pool stops after some time by itself, it might be due to a bug caused
by SharePoint 2013. Validate your problem by looking at the Event
Viewer. Confirm that your error is similar to the following:
Event Log Error Event ID 2282
The Module DLL 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web
Server Extensions\15\isapi\spnativerequestmodule.dll' could not be
loaded due to a configuration problem. The current configuration only
supports loading images built for a x86 processor architecture. The
data field contains the error number. To learn more about this issue,
including how to troubleshooting this kind of processor architecture
mismatch error, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=29349.
We can apply a quick fix using this command
appcmd.exe set config -section:system.webServer/globalModules
/[name='SPNativeRequestModule'].preCondition:integratedMode,bitness64
Or you can manually enter the preCondition entry in the
ApplicationHost.config file
More information can be found here:
http://blogs.flexnetconsult.co.uk/colinbyrne/2012/11/11/RunningA32bitApplicationAlongsideSharePoint2013Problems.aspx
FIX:
the user which you specified to run the TFS service needs "log on as a service" and "Log on as batch job" permissions. I've set that up via GPO.
This solution worked for me. I execute this command
appcmd.exe set config -section:system.webServer/globalModule/[name='SPNativeRequestModule'].preCondition:integratedMode,bitness64
in C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv and C:\Windows\System64\inetsrv.
I opened my web project today and for some reason I could not gain access to my database files. I get the following exception whenever I try to add, edit or refresh my database:
A network related instance specific error occurred while establishing
a connection to SQL Server. The Server was not found or is was not
accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL
Server is configured to allow remote connections.
I took a look at my connection string for any spelling errors and deleted my database and replaced it in the folder I had it in. I can't seem to find a fix for this so any help would be a appreciated. I am using Visual studio 2008 for this web project.
This sounds like the same problem that I had myself awhile back. My problem was that my SQL service pack 1 did not install properly so I had to install Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Objects and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client. After that I could create new SQLdatasources but I could not edit the ones I had previously before my problem. I had to restart my computer in safe mode and delete my SQLEXPRESS folder then recreate the database connection in visual studios. When I finished that everything worked fine.
This is the site I got those downloads, http://blogs.cametoofar.com/post/cannot-load-file-or-assembly-microsoftsqlservermanagementsdksfc.aspx
When loading the new Tridion UI page the following errors appear in the message center.
/WebUI/Models/SiteEdit/Services/Services.svc/GetSiteEditItemConfiguration failed to execute.
/WebUI/Models/TCM54/Services/General.svc/GetTridionWebSchema failed to execute.
/WebUI/Models/TCM54/Services/Blueprinting.svc/LoadBlueprintInfo failed to execute.
These are the full errors.
The client has a 'Single Sign On' system provided by 'Siteminder'. We need to login to show popups and for the bootstrap.apsx to load. Could this be causing the above errors. If so how do I integrate Tridion UI with Single Sign On?

First let's check if everything else is fine. Can you check if you can access CoreService? Navigate your browser to
/webservices/CoreService.svc
If you are able to get to CoreService page than it's most probably something wrong with CME itself. Check if it has Anonymous authentication and walk over all of the web.configs in the folders under Tridion\Web and check that you have followed all of the directions given in comments.
Despite that I’m a regular reader of this great forum, this is my first post on it. I believe that this community can help me with the following problem that I have.
I’m trying to publish an ASP.NET website over an IIS 6.0 (Windows 2003 Server), and I have some troubles trying to connect to the database. Curiously, I have installed another ASP.NET website into the same IIS 6.0 with the same properties and security parameters and can connect without problems with the same database. The application that works fine is almost the same that the one that can’t connect with SQL Server (actually is the same but with several modifications).
I’ll enumarate some information related to the problem:
S.O: Windows 2003 Server
SQL Server Engine: SQL Server 2008 SQL Server accept remote connections? Yes.
ASP.NET version: 2.0.50727
The connections via TCP/IP are enabled to the SQL Server instance? Yes.
The corresponding user that I have in the connection string, actually exists into the database with the “owner” role? Yes.
ORM Tool used: nHibernate
I get the following error when I try to run the aplication into the browser:
Error while establishing a connection
to the server. When connecting to SQL
Server 2005, this failure may occur
because the default settings SQL
Server does not allow remote
connections. (provider: Shared Memory
Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a
connection to SQL Server)
In order to isolate the problem, I made some test. For example, using the web app that works fine I can connect without any problema with the database that uses the web app that can’t. With this evidence I concluded that the problem is within the web app and not into the SQL Server instance. I also google it my problem but sadly I can't find nothing usefull to solve it.
If someone can help me I’ll appreciate that.
Thank you so much for your time!
The most likely explanation is that your connection strings are not the same between the two applications. The error in question is talking about the Shared Memory provider, which is not the same as TCP/IP connections.
I've found the problem. In order to solve it, I was install in a virtual machine the same OS (Windows 2003 Server) and IIS (6.0). In this clean enviroment, I've found that the changes that I made in the home page was the problem. This aspx page has Web Parts that I'll investigate to know why is causing troubles with the database connection. I navigate to another page of the web application and it can connect with the database and retrieve information without any problem..but when I try to reach the home page the aplication colapse because of the problem that I tell you in this thread.
I'll post more news about this problem when I resolve it completely
Thanks for your assistance and time.
