I cannot access my IIS7 site on the network - iis-7

I have an IIS7 site that works fine while on the server, however refuses to work from anywhere on the network.
When logged onto the IIS Server itself (with remote desktop) then the website shows fine, as per this link (I used port 801 for this site):
http://localhost:801/
However when attempting to access this site from the network, it refuses to work, giving the generic 'cannot display the webpage' message, while using the following link:
http://<<my IIS server>>:801/
Another thing I have noticed however is that on the network the default page (port 80) of the IIS server DOES work. I.E this following link shows the standard IIS7 page:
http://<<my IIS server>>:80/
Most of the help topics I've read point to it being a firewall issue, however as a test I disabled all firewall settings on the IIS Server, yet it still refused to show.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Many thanks

Did you tried with computer name and / or IP Address
e.g: http://192.168.1.105:80/
http://DELL_PC:80/

Run the following tests:
Check connectivity from both computers.
Firewall settings, temporary disable the firewall from all profiles (private, domain, public) if this works, try adding a Port Rule to your firewall allowing incoming connections to port 80.
Also, it'd be important to check the bindings configuration of your website, bindings specify the address the server should listen to for incoming connections, make sure you have 'All Unassigned'.

Can't open site other than on the port 80

I installed on my server, a Bug tracker which is accessible through port 3000 (http://myserver:3000).
Every thing is ok on my server, i can access to my web application any time, but in my job's computer, i cannot even connect to this application and no other web application which run on different port other than 80.
I have added a role on the windows Firewall settings by letting connection to and from port 3000. But same result.
If some one have a solution to this, i'll be thankful.
Best Regards
Is it possible that your work network is blocking your home machine. Can you ping your home machine or access it with its ip address? When you type
http://myserver:3000
are you doing this from the local intranet? If you have your bug server on your home machine then you won't be able to access
http://myserver:3000
from your work machine without a fully qualified domain nae or ip address?
If the above answers are all resolved then whenever I have such difficulties on windows, I do the following. If you don't have admin rights you might not be able to do this.
temporarily disable all firewall/antivirus programs.
Start web server listening on port 80 (on your home machine)
Access from a different machine if this works then
Start web server on 3000
Access from a different machine.
If it works then it is a matter of finding whether the problem was that the web request was being blocked by the firewall or antivirus. In your case it appears it might be the antivirus. To confirm disable all antivirus for a moment.
Make sure you turn your antivirus/firewall back on once the problem is diagnosed!

Can not access the website via SSL

We have deployed our website to the live webserver, Windows Server, IIS 7.5. Website asp.net, .NET 4.5
I have configured the website bindings to allow https requests for this website.
Asked the hosting provider to open up the port 443.
I can access the website over internet with port 80, no issues at all. (http://mysite.com)
But I can not access via https, (https://mysite.com).
But I can access the site via SSL from the server itself, that means SSL configurations are fine.(https - localhost)
But I can telnet (telnet mysite.com 443), it responds to GET request via telnet.
I have rechecked the certificate and changed it to a self-signed certificate, issue is still there.
These requests not being tracked in IIS logs as well, seems like the request is not reaching IIS. Hopefully something goes wrong before it reaches the server.
But, when I access the website as http://mysite.com:443, it works.
I m bit confused with this behaviour. Obviously the port 443 is open by the hosting company. But something is wrong with requests over HTTPS, which is supposed to send a request to port 443. Please help.
Because your site is working when you access http://mysite.com:443, I am almost sure that you created wrong binding on IIS. Instead of selecting https from combo box you selected default http.
There is a tutorial on how to do this on youtube: Changing IIS 7.5 Bindings by David Johnson
You've establish that the port is open and the hostname binding is there, otherwise http://mysite.com:443 would not work. Its the SSL part that's not working, hence you can connect directly by port and telnet (port 443 but not SSL) but not a browser via https. It's only a browser connecting to a https url that will expect SSL.. I'm pretty sure I've had the same issue, but cannot recall the exact cause but it was definitely related to an invalid SSL configuration or SSL binding.. The behaviour was like there is no connection, nothing, which is unusual, its the bad config causes the browser to abort the connection. If I remember what, I'll update or comment below.
So you can access the site using https://localhost? Your question is not quite clear on this point... what is the exact URL you are using? If it's https://localhost, that is actually an indication that your certificate is configured incorrectly. You seem to be interpreting this as an indicator that it's working OK and that is not the case. The domain name is tied to the certificate and SSL will work only when accessing the site using that domain name. So if it works for "localhost", something is wrong.
Finally I found the solution. Issue was a setting in the load balancer of the hosting provider. I have asked the question from them and they have figured out the issue. Anyways it was a good learning curve for me. And this knowledge is going to help others.
The firewall was already allowing both HTTP/HTTPS, which is why we could telnet through and run a GET / and still pull down content from the 404 page of the IP address.
It appears there was a certain profile applied to the HTTPS configuration in the load balancer which would only work for HTTP, so they have disabled that.
When they set this up for HTTP and HTTPS they were not able to test HTTPS, because to do so would require an SSL certificate in IIS - which it appears we have already provided.
Thanks everyone for your help on this!

Unable to access Active directory from my asp.net application hosted in production server

I have written an asp.net application and validated the logged in user with Active Directory.
It works perfectly in my local machine IDE. But when hosted in my production server, it couldnt communicate with the AD Server.
I have windows authentication enabled in my IIS in server as well has put identity impersonate in my web.config.
The error is get is
Error Trace :System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007054B): The specified
domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
Any suggestions is appreciated.
That error usually means exactly what it says - that it cannot find a DC to authenticate against for the specified domain. Are you sure the production box can hit the domain via DNS? You can use nslookup if the server is Windows. This will confirm you can actually hit it. You usually see a different error if it's a security/rights issue.
If it is a windows box try using nslookup domain_name and see if any IP addresses are returned. If they aren't, then that's your issue. You may need to manually configure the IP address if that's the case or resolve the potential routing issue if you can't hit it by IP.

Troubleshooting IIS 7

I am trying to figure out why my web page isn't displaying when using my domain name. I have a local IIS 7 web server installed with an ASP.NET web site. When I go to http://localhost, my page displays fine. When I go to http://www.mysite.com, it doesn't display though. Doing a trace route on www.mysite.com shows that it is resolving to my IP address. My router is forwarding port 80 requests to the web server and I am browsing from my phone, which is on a separate IP address using 3G. I disabled my firewall and my anti-virus to make sure neither of those are interfering. I also looked at the IIS 7 log and my request does not appear to be hitting it.
Is there a way to trace the incoming request to find out where its getting thrown out at? I'm losing my mind trying to troubleshoot this and any help would be appreciated.
Is your ISP blocking port 80? I have seen lots of ISP's do this to home users in an attempt to have them upgrade their internet package to a business plan.

Cannot access web application (Internet Explorer Can Not find this Page) remotely

I have Deployed my Asp.net web application on IIS 7.0 on localMachine(Server) and it is working fine there.
But when i try to access it from other machine in LAN, It gives me error that, 'Internet Explorer Can Not find this Page.'
I am accessing it on terminals using server name address and also tried using IP address.
Even I have Shared the Application Folder in network.
Check the Windows Firewall on your Vista PC. You need to let TCP port 80 through.
Make sure that you enable the firewall and bind to IP addresses other than localhost.
You don't need to and should not share the application folder.
This is a security risk as people on the network will be able to access the source code of the application. Also, it won't help with the problems you're having because a network share is not accessed over HTTP and so will never hit IIS and your web application. So you can turn off sharing for the folder and be safe in the knowledge that this isn't the issue.
Next, check your windows firewall and make sure incomming web trafic is allowed ("http" or "port 80").
Next I would have a look at the host headers that the site is running on.
Then maybe update your question with more detail.
Greg
You may also want to ensure that IIS is listening on the correct IP Address. This problem can occur if you switch from a LAN connection to a wireless connection (for example when taking a work laptop home).
To Check this, open inetmgr and right-click on the 'Default Web Site' node. Verify that the IP Address entry is set to the current IP of your machine.
