Hi i have a flex file upload application over https it works fine on all IE browsers.
Recently a client with IE9 reported a complaint that she's not able to upload files.
I can see the error generated is IO Error #2038.
The adobe documentation says 2038 is File I/O Error.This error occurs when an application can't get file size, creation date or modification data using the FileReference API.
Can some one help me point out what could be the issue here.
All i can think of is browser issues like, browser cache, some new configuration in IE9 am unaware of or permission on the client directory.
Help will be much appreciated.

I suggest you to use Charles debugging proxy, which is must have tool for all Flash/Flex developers, and see the difference in IE8 and IE9. Maybe the problem is in some HTTP headers or something else.
I have a similar issue. Later I found out that upload feature doesn't work for latest version of flash player over https. Then I tried sending the upload requests via http instead of https. Now its working fine. Try this, it may help in your case aswell.

In my webpage, I have a download button will write excel to response and it work previously. But I got a problem today that browser on client (tested IE and Chrome) cannot download exported excel from ASP.net webforms suddenly without changing code and software install.
When I test in Chrome, console show that Resource interpreted as Document but transferred with MIME type application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet.
I used the notepad to open the downloaded excel and the content become the my web html page.
I tried to login server and use the browser in server, the file can be download normally with correct content.
I have tried to copy the web folder to another server and iis setup, it show same behavior that the downloaded excel become html content of my page on client browser but work in server browser.
May I have any idea how to troubleshoot on this case please?

Are you facing this issue on a domain/managed network? If yes, are you the administrator of the network? If that's not the case, please give these suggestions a try:

is trusted or allowed by these programs. You can also try
temporarily disabling your antivirus or firewall to see if this
resolves the issue.
Just to make sure we eliminate malware from the
scenario, please follow the steps from this help article.
Try resetting the Chrome browser to see if that helps.
Also, creating a new user profile on your Chrome can be helpful.

cutting edge developer version of Chrome that can be installed
alongside Stable Chrome. It's possible the problem won't exist on a

The title pretty much says it all. When I'm running HTTP(S) Test Script Recorder, one particular page becomes unresponsive - when I click on something it just reloads. The recorder itself is working fine, it is recording every step. And the problem is not proxy related. I've successfully recorded other pages of the same website. When I'm not recording, there are no problems.
It's a .NET 3.5 project.
The page itself has a lot of forms, file uploads, etc, but as far as I know, it should not interfere with recording or even more - with browsing the page. When debugging the project, no breakpoints are hit, so I assume that something gets lost before reaching the server.
Browsers that I've tried: tried FF, Chrome, Edge, IE.
Tried recording the web locally and online. Same thing.
Played around (reinstalled and whatnot) with certificates, didn't help.
Has anyone encountered such a problem? What could be done to fix this? I'm more interested in finding the solution, than a way around (blazemeter, badboy). Any help would be very appreciated.
EDIT: I tried recording with blazemeter and it worked. But when looking at view results tree I noticed that the request path and parameters don't change, even when in the HTTP Request Sampler they are different. So there's no solution yet
This often happens to me and what I've found is that JMeter changes the root certificate in the bin folder every week. So usually the HTTP traffic is fine but certain HTTPS traffic won't work. So make sure that your browsers are seeing the latest JMeter certificate and not using an old one that doesn't exist anymore. On Windows, Chrome and IE use the certificates in Internet Options, while Firefox needs to have it added to it manually.
It turns out that in Test Script Recorder HTTP Sampler Settings choosing Type: Java was all that was needed. I suspect that the issue was related to file upload being involved.
I wish I had a more generic way of asking this question but I really can't figure out what could be going on.
Using dev-channel Chrome 26 (and IE 10) I'm hitting a simple html site in my public dropbox here
In my browser Handlebars.js (from cdnjs.com) never loads and I get an error. Heck, according to the Network tab it never even tries to load it. Yet click through the source and the script file - it is definitely a live link. Why handlebars? Additionally, running the same exact site with a local server loads just fine.
I'm at a loss here what could possibly have this effect. You'd think the issue would be running the server in dropbox but it seems to be the actual browser misbehaving. And why on earth does it not make any request at all?

It looks like Chrome is throwing an insecure content warning on your scripts. Most likely because you are trying to access content hosted over HTTP while your site is being served from dropbox using ssl. Most likely a Chrome security setting silently block scripts it considers "insecure"
I'm trying to perform a file upload using a FileReference from a Flex app running in Firefox 4. However when I attempt to call the upload() method, the Filereference throws an IOError with the following
Error #2038: File I/O Error. URL: http://localhost:8080/admin/upload
If I don't explicitly add a listener for the IOErrorEvent, then I get a Flash player popup stating
SecurityError: Error #2000: No active security context.
The request doens't even hit my server (I can verify by placing breakpoints in the Java code and watching the HTTP Requests that go out using HTTPFox), so it seems to me that this is a client side issue (right?). I've done some searching for the problem on google and the suggestions included wrapping the upload() call in a timeout/callLater, and attempting to attach the sessionId to the request (since Firefox creates a new thread for the upload and doesn't attach the proper cookies). Neither of these approaches has worked for me.
I don't experience this problem with Internet Explorer, only Firefox.
Has anyone encountered this before? Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.
EDIT: Should mention that the SWF and the URL being requested are on the same server (localhost:8080).
From the docs for FileReference:
For content running in Flash Player or for content running in Adobe AIR outside of the application security sandbox, uploading and downloading operations can access files only within its own domain and within any domains that a URL policy file specifies. Put a policy file on the file server if the content initiating the upload or download doesn't come from the same domain as the file server.
Also - is this running as release or in the debugger? Sometimes the behavior for server access is quite different.
Fairly normal security sandbox issue (not prevalent to Firefox, but to Flash Player).
You just need a crossdomain file on the root of your webserver.
Hi I'm trying a simple tutorial of retrieving RSS feeds from yahoo and keep getting this error:

I've seen some articles that say I need a crossdomain.xml file, but I don't really know how to set this file up and how to use it from the Flex SDK compiler (mxmlc).

The crossdomain.xml file needs to live at the root of the server that you are accessing. If they have not put that there, then you are out of luck when running in the browser. It is part of an important security aspect of running in a browser sandbox (Silverlight has the same restriction). It is waived if you are running in Air (or pretty much anything out of the browser).
Lets say that you are trying to receive data from http://foo.com/rest/rss/all (or something like that). You can chec quickly to see if they allow cross-site scripting (XSC) by browsing to http://foo.com/crossdomain.xml. If it is not there, then you can't do it.
