I have looked over other questions on this website, but am yet to find a solution that meets our requirements.
We need a Timeline control that makes it possible to display some HR information (distribution of consultants) over longer periods of time (months). The screenshot below illustrates the requirement.
We currently use a Windows-based component from a third party. We need this application to be visible on the web, including display on iPad devices. Are there any controls on the market that support this functionality?
I haven't explored many of the options yet, but I'm working on an application that uses DayPilot Lite (the open source version) from http://www.daypilot.org/ to display a calendar. The scheduler control looks like it could do something like what you're looking for.

There's also the "viewer" approach you could take -- for example, you could put a view of Visio or MS Project, etc. in a window on your page. Not sure how interactive it would be, but if your need is just for view-only, it might work.

Have you looked at Google Charts? Specifically you could, perhaps, use their Annotated Timeline.
Google charts have some serious issues if any asp.net project is deployed in IIS.

I'm working in an ASP.NET environment and i'm searching a framework (better if it is open source) which generate INTERACTIVE charts on server side. Since i have to publish this project also for mobile, i'm searching something that produces charts in HTML5.

Try out Highcharts .Net (sample website) or DotnetHighcharts. Both are C# wrappers written around the Highcharts charting library.
The original library is in javascript, but both these projects are based entirely on C#, and you dont need to write any javascript code to get charts working. Both have sample projects, in case you are interested, although I think Highcharts .Net is more feature-complete if i'm not mistaken..
If you are looking to use MVC, DotnetHighcharts is the way to go, but if you intend to use webforms, Highcharts dot net handles viewstate for the charts so state management is no longer a headache for you..

Have to checked out Google Chart Tools? Not to be confused with their infographics api or image charts api.
They will generate HTML5 etc dependant on what browser is used.
And can be considered semi-server-side I suppose, it will generate a portion the markup on Google's server side (n.b. not your server side), though I guessing this will depend on what chart is rendered as some charts will probably be mostly client side. However for any interactive chart a certain amount of clientside technology will be used anyway.
So I suppose it depends on if you mean server-side you mean it is essential it runs on your own server. Running on Google's infrastructure does give you the advantages of a CDN etc so it might outway the need of running on your own server.
You can use Syncfusion HTML5 chart control for your requirement. You can create chart with interactive features such as highlight date points, tooltip, exploded pie, etc., in ASP.NET environment .
Also, The HTML5 chart is using element for chart rendering. So, it is providing effective Client side interaction to the chart control. Please refer the below online document and sample link for HTML5 chart.

If you are interested in a commercial tool, I highly recommend Highcharts. We are using it in our commercial application. The pricing model is good--we evaluated it against FusionCharts--and it is very feature-rich, interactive.
Although commercial, you can use Highcharts under a CC license for everything except for-profit commercial apps.

I was commissioned to build the following:
Web app to be accessed by all mobile devices - so no Flash/SilverLight/HTML5...
Main page will contain a calendar of current month (ability to navigate to other months is not required)
Each day should display one or more jobs (I am thinking 2 lines of text for each job), and each of these jobs may have a different color, depending on the time.
Database is SQL Server, hosted on GoDaddy, on the same hosting account as the page will live.
I am a newbie in web development and I would like to get some guidance of the best/easiest approach to implement this. Since I am a .Net Windows developer ASP.Net (or MVC) would be the preferred technology (unless you recommend a different one for this problem). I would really appreciate specific help on things like what control to use? Should I create a grid/table manually? How to customize each day's content, so it shows multiple jobs, each job being a couple of lines of text, but with specific color according to the job type?
(in WPF I would use templates, converters for color and everything data-bound. Do these things exist in Asp.Net?)

You might look at jquery UI calendar or Telerik extension for MVC. It's not "fancy" but javascript.
I am new to dynamics integration and as a learning exercise I have set up a new server and created an IFRAME in my Account form to display a page from another application (there is mapping between the CRM account and the other application).
This all works great and hats off to Microsoft for making this so simple!
My issue is I want to provide a continuous look and feel to the external application so it looks integrated as much as possible.
At the moment, I only have a grid showing a list of records but this will probably grow to having buttons and input fields too.
I toyed with the idea of just replicating all the CSS using the SDK style guide as a reference but wanted to ask if there is a best/recommended practice for doing this before I went ahead with this tedious task.
Have the same question as you. Having looked around it appears that for the moment you should replicate the styles you need from the style guide in your own resources.

I am looking for a library to facilitate a nice UX for displaying a reservation calendar for a small bed and breakfast place. I would like to be able to show a calendar with maybe two views, being a high level 'year' view, showing high and low seasons, and basic indication of existing reservations, and a 'month' view showing more exact reservation details and allowing a user to submit a reservation request by using buttons or context menus.
I am in a very early part of the life cycle for this project and am looking for suggestions here rather than specific solutions, but what libraries and components are out there that I can look at and draw up a shortlist from?
For the sake of simplicity and speed of execution, I would consider the Telerik controls. If you're able to implement this in Silverlight then the calendar/schedule control pretty much gives you everything that you're asking for, really:

Ext JS could be a viable option, then you could use a scheduling product that I have created. This demo could be pretty close to what you need: http://ext-scheduler.com/examples/html5/html5.html (try it in FireFox or Chrome for best experience). Integrates easily with ASP.NET too.
Other options would be FullCalendar (jQuery), ASPxScheduler by DevExpress.
I've got an asp.net application where each client will have their own data entry forms. I'm a bit tired of reinventing this wheel. Does anyone have any good experience with an "off the shelf" component for rapidly building such forms?
The component will need to fit within an existing asp.net site and support layout of the fields, not just "dumping" the fields on the page. The data needs to go back to a database for querying (but can use it's own schema) and some light level of workflow needs to be supported (mostly around completion status). Infopath is a non-starter due to its requirements for sharepoint etc, but if you're thinking along those lines, you have some idea of what I'm looking for. The system must be open for modification as I'm sure we won't be able to find something that does everything we need.
Doesn't matter if it is OSS or commericial.
