I have a webpage that is running in wordpress using thesis. The page shows up fine on a PC but the sidebar is being kicked down on any mac web browser. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I've checked the content, sidebar, padding, margins, etc to make sure they aren't too wide to fit in the wrapper, but I don't see the problem. I need a fresh pair of eyes.
Can anyone help?

You're missing an ending </div> tag, which will affect the sidebar placement, among other code errors. See [Invalid] Markup Validation of thesurgicalsolution.com - W3C Markup Validator. Scroll down in the validation report to see line numbers and source code.
It can be resolved, for Safari 5.0.5 at least, with a clear:both added to div#content; but I'm not entirely sure why. Some of the body text is still spilling out to the right, behind the sidebars, so there may be a width/padding/margin problem there as well.

I am trying to make a responsive website, but I am stumbling upon a weird problem. When I am looking on the desktop page, everything is in the right position. There are no pixels left.
However, when I am loading the responsive version on my mobile, I see some pixels left (just scroll to the left or the right and you will see what I mean). The problem gets bigger when there is content like a single post or page.
The website is here: http://FavoriteFM.com.
I can provider the CSS code, but it will be a lot of lines. I am suspecting something in the content is 'sticking out'. But I am not sure of a tool that can see such problems.
Thanks,
Dennis
Today I have disabled every div by div. I figured out the problem is with the sidebar. I still had: 'left: 8px;' on. Removing it did the trick for me. So if you have this problem, check if something of your content is 'sticking' outside your wrapper. Even if you can't see it, it still can be there.
I recently imported CSS Bootstrap into my website, so that I could add a toolbar to it. All went well, except that the text of my website now cuts off at the bottom. I set the overflow of the body to scroll, to no avail. The website scrolls a little bit, but then the scroll bar stops before the end of the content. If you zoom out on the browser, you can see all of the content.
The home page is a fairly long chunk of code, especially if I include the bootstrap, so I am not inclined to copy it here. Have any of you encountered this, and do you remember / can you suggest how to rectify it?
Some of you suggested a link, and you're right. Here is the page in question: http://www.zipcodeconquest.com/home.php
In your CSS, try changing your body height to "auto". Just a guess without seeing your code or a screenshot...
look for a white-space:nowrap or white-space:pre property. Your container might have one of these styles and forces your text content to be displayed in a way that overlap it.
I've been working on a website for our family business and we have a product page which outlines our four key products. It's a bootstrap template that we purchased from wrapboostrap.com (I'm no graphic designer!) and all has been going well. This page however (http://ashfieldclutch.azurewebsites.net/Products) has been giving me a headache.
Occasionally on either mobile or desktop devices the layout plays up (see attached images).
If you reload the page on either platform, it loads perfectly afterwards. I seem to be able to stop this behavior by removing this div:
<div class="row portfolio-wrapper">
However, on mobile devices, this removes the spacing I require between the product types so ideally it needs to stay.
Can anyone see what may be causing this issue?
Thanks in advance,
Paul.
I've refreshed more than 20 times, but I've seen it.
It's not about the classes in <div class="row portfolio-wrapper">, but about the inline styling that's added to this div by your templates Javascript. It happens to miscalculate the height of the div container class .portfolio-wrapper once in a while, which causes the lower content to move up. Since I can't inspect the Javascript, I can't help you much further.
I think you're best of by contacting the template author, he can and will probably find you the cause.
I was able to simulate it on my side and found the fix. It happens in Chrome and Firefox, so I don't think it's a browser-specific issue.
There is inline style being added to that <div> that seems to be calculating the height incorrectly. I changed the height from 1402.234375px to 1602.234375px and that seems to resolve it.
See before and after screenshots below.
I think there might be some Javascript code that might be calculating the heights and adding them to the <div> on the fly.
For the permanent fix, you will have to fix the code that is generating these heights. I will continue to look on my side also for that code.

After Fix.
I have a site based on Solar Sentinel Joomla template: www.sism.org
I'm having some visualization problem with chrome.
The right side-bar is shifted down after all the content, while it should be floating on the right!
Could someone explain me why?
PS: the template css is pretty messy, and there is some custom css and js made by me inline at the beginning of the page.
The HTML is throwing a lot of validation errors: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sism.org%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
My guess is that Safari and Firefox are rendering around these errors in a way that is according to what you would expect. Try fixing the errors and seeing what happens. If nothing else, you'll have ruled out invalid HTML as the issue.
It looks like your div class="col3" is inside your div class="colright".
Try placing div class="col3" outside the other one.
I have built a context menu but have found annoyingly that when I right click on my site in firefox all text and images just seem to randomly get selected. It is not a JS issue as I have removed all JS from the site. Thinking it must be a css issue. I have never encountered anything like this before...
I don't have an example page to show I'm afraid. Has anyone experienced this before in Firefox. I am using the latest FF4.
Cheers Guys!
*UPDATE:*
Here is a pasting of the pure html from the page that is having issues,
http://jsbin.com/aneja4/3/edit
did you try to disable all your addons you have installed? maybe one of them is causing the problem.
I have FF 4 but neven encountered this problem before.
And I could be wrong but I don't know of any css code that would be able to select text. it's pure for the design and structure of the site. it will be mostlikely a js problem or something else
I have seen this too... I think it has something to do with the way the site is structured... If you have nexted divs, or a div that does not quite cover the entire page, a right click on the parent div seems to select everything in the nested div. It's quite annoying... especially when trying to build a custom context menu, or use the default menu to refresh the page...
Any fixes/changes that we should know about for FF that is causing this? I'm using FF4 and XP (yeah, yeah... corp. system)

It's likely a problem with your HTML layout that firefox is struggling to work with. But without seeing any code, it's not possible to speculate any further down that path. #JDF's suggestions may help you, though.
If you can't work it out, and can't live with it, you could just disable the ability to select text.
In Firefox (and other standards-compliant browsers), you'd use the CSS user-select: none;.
See this question for more info on how to achieve this: How to disable text selection highlighting using CSS?
This is most likely caused by having a contentEditable element on your page. Any element (other than body it seems) that contains editable content will be highlighted/selected when you right click on it in Firefox (4.0 and 5.0 is all I can confirm). If everything on your page is wrapped in a div it'll appear that the whole page is selected. If you (can) right-click somewhere on the body the regular context menu should work.
Although I can't see any instances of contentEditable in your code on jsbin, it could be added by a script that I can't see (possibly even modernizr?).
I think this is related (although it doesn't match exactly)

http://aloha-editor.org/ exhibits the same behaviour when right-clicking anywhere inside the #wrapper div.
