Exception Details: System.Web.Hosting.HostingEnvironmentException: Failed to access IIS metabase
This is the first time working on IIS.. So I need ur hints and fixes
Thanks

You need to install the .net framework on you system
Open visual studio command prompt and type this command
aspnet_regiis -ga <UserName>
if this doesn'twork than use this command
aspnet_regiis -i
alternatively you can copy and paste this command into windows command prompt
%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i
this will fix your problem

I am using Artifactory Professional, version 5.6.0 rev 50600900
When I try to deploy a file through the Artifactory web UI, I'm getting an error: '<filename> is undefined' in a red popup box.
When I look in the system log, I see:
2018-05-15 08:25:41,037 [http-nio-8081-exec-123] [ERROR] (o.a.r.c.e.GlobalExceptionMapper:48) - Permission denied
java.io.IOException: Permission denied
The time corresponds to the time I tried the deploy
Uploads using a curl command or via the Artifactory plugin in Jenkins work without any problems.
I am an administrator on Artifactory. other users with Delete/Overwrite, Deploy/Cache, Annotate and Read also are not able to upload to repos via the web UI.
I get the undefined error with all files i try to deploy, large or small. this error occurs for users on windows, mac os and linux.
thanks in advance for any help.
Looks like an file system permissions issue. Make sure that the OS user running Artifactory has write permissions to <ARTIFACTORY_HOME>/data/tmp.
The artifacts uploaded from the UI are temporally saved under this folder.
I was a bit tired of my slow running pc, which has Visual Studio 2017. So, I shifted my code of Mac where I have Visual Studio 2017 for Mac, after restoring dependencies it built properly, but when running, it gives the exception below:
Microsoft.AspNetCore.Server.Kestrel.Transport.Libuv.Internal.Networking.UvException has been thrown
error -13 EACCES permission denied
So, I tried to run dotnet from terminal to find the root cause of the error with this:
dotnet run
Now, I it throws exception as below:
Microsoft.AspNetCore.DataProtection.KeyManagement.KeyRingProvider[48]
An error occurred while reading the key ring.
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '/Users/apple/.aspnet/DataProtection-Keys/42cb81a7-89b6-4a29-86ae-76d3acca3076.tmp' is denied. ---> System.IO.IOException: Permission denied
So, this is the error where permission is required to access this path, so what I tried is this:
sudo dotnet run
Which is running perfectly.
Now the question is, how can I run this within Visual Studio Mac? I need to debug and walkthrough the code many times.
Try to enable Root User Account.
This link may be helpful, though.
Run this command in terminal: This will open Visual Studio with Admin privileges and it works like charm.
sudo /Applications/Visual\ Studio.app/Contents/MacOS/VisualStudio
I ssh to my VPS where there is a vagrant box that runs a symfony project.
When i try to access the project i am getting the error:
`Fatal error: Uncaught RuntimeException: Failed to write cache file` and
`Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'RuntimeException' with message 'Could not create cache directory`
I have tried fixing file permissions as mentioned here: http://symfony.com/doc/current/setup/file_permissions.html
and even changed chmod to 777. But still getting same error.
I also tried everything there: symfony2 : failed to write cache directory
It just won't work. Any help would be much appreciated.
My VPS is running ubuntu 16.04 and vagrant is latest version with image ubuntu/trusty
If you are running Apache check your /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file and find your entry for your website in there. Check to see what user Apache is running the site as. You'll want to make sure the directories and files that make up your Symfony app belong to that user and the group the user is in as well. If you are logged in as root and are in the your Symfony directory you can run:
chown -R user:group *
to change all the files and directories to that user and group. Note to replace user and group in the command above with the actual username and group.
If you still have troubles after you've found the user apache is running as, try removing your symfony files completely (if it is a fresh project that you haven' been working on) and rebuild it while you are superuser'd (su) as that user. You probably built your project as root or another user.
I am trying to install application using a script. This application creates a virtual directory under Default Web Site in IIS.
I have written this script. Is this right script or i am missing some thing.
cd C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop
msiexec /qb /i ZFPSetup.msi INSTALLLOCATION="C:\Program Files (x86)\Application" TARGETVDIR="ZFP" WIXUI_EXITDIALOGOPTIONALCHECKBOX=1 /l*v "C:\log.txt"
iisvdir /create Default Web Site ZFP C:\Program Files (x86)\Application\ZFP
call "C:\Program Files (x86)\Application\StartKaraf.bat" echo error
I am getting below error:
MSI (s) (28:D0) [04:25:58:897]: Invoking remote custom action. DLL: C:\Windows\Installer\MSIF886.tmp, Entrypoint: WriteIIS7ConfigChanges
WriteIIS7ConfigChanges: Error 0x80070002: Site not found for create application
WriteIIS7ConfigChanges: Error 0x80070002: Failed to configure IIS application.
WriteIIS7ConfigChanges: Error 0x80070002: WriteIIS7ConfigChanges Failed.
CustomAction WriteIIS7ConfigChanges returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Error 0x80070002: Site not found for create application
Maybe this is caused by the lack of quotes, so instead of:
... iisvdir /create Default Web Site ...
Try:
... iisvdir /create "Default Web Site" ...
Using simple batch files is not the best way to go about configuring IIS. For system administration tasks such as this, Microsoft created PowerShell.
Check out how to configure IIS using PowerShell here: http://www.iis.net/learn/manage/powershell.
Here's an example of how to use PowerShell to create a virtual directory in IIS:
PS IIS:\> New-Item 'IIS:\Sites\Default Web Site\DemoVirtualDir1' -type VirtualDirectory -physicalPath c:\test\virtualDirectory1
The code above uses the PowerShell Snap-In for Creating Applications.
Good luck!
I'm trying to execute a web deploy script on a clean build Windows Server 2008 R2 machine and getting the following error:
ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or
value. msdeploy.exe is not found on
this machine. Please install Web
Deploy before execute the script.
The package was created in VS2010 and executes fine on my development box (as always!). If I import the package on the server through IIS everything works fine.
Web Deploy has been installed on the server through the Web Deployment Tool 2.1 via the Web P.I and I've verified the inclusion of msdeploy.exe. I'm running the script through the "IIS Extensions/Web Deploy Command Line" start menu item so I'm guessing that the correct paths should be set. I've also tried it as Administrator with the same error.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Copied from here:
There is an error with the way Microsoft’s Web Deploy 2.1 application creates command line packages from Visual Studio 2010.
If you create a package to publish and then try to run the msdeploy.exe command line publishing tool it on a production server running IIS then you may receive the following error:
ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or
value. msdeploy.exe is not found on this machine. Please install Web
Deploy before execute the script.
Assuming that you actually have installed Web Deploy from http://www.iis.net/download/WebDeploy then the error may be caused by an incorrect registry path variable in the .cmd file that Visual Studio creates.
Open up the .deploy.cmd file that is part of your deployment package in a text editor and look for the following code block:
if "%MSDeployPath%" == "" (
for /F "usebackq tokens=2*" %%i in
(`reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\IIS Extensions\MSDeploy\1" /v InstallPath`)
do (if "%%~dpj" == "%%j" (
set MSDeployPath=%%j
If you have installed Web Deploy 2.0 or higher, then the error is caused by the registry query to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\IIS Extensions\MSDeploy\1. If you open up regedit on your production server you’ll find that the appropriate key is actually HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\IIS Extensions\MSDeploy\2.
Change the reference in the.deploy.cmd file and you’ll be able to successfully run the deployment package.
I have the same problem. Installed WebDeploy_2_10_amd64_en-US. Running the Deploy Command Line I get the same erorr. However, in IIS (version 7) I could use an option import application. With this option (right side of the window in the actions toolbar) I was able to import the application deployment package zip file. All settings were imported correctly except for the application pool. I only had to adjust that and everything was running fine.
