How can I open MVC 3 project in Visual studio 2010 SP1 ? - asp.net

I just reinstalled my OS and installed everything again and found that whenever I open my project I got the error that.
The project type is not supported by this installation.
Can anyone explain why this happened whenever nothing goes wrong whenever I install.
The issue I found that is error code 1603 and I found later a alternate to install MVC3 you can read the whole post:
1603 installation Error in MVC 3.

You need to go to the asp.net homepage, download and install the MVC3 package.
http://www.asp.net/mvc/mvc3

There are a few quirks with the web platform installer. Download the full mvc version by clicking on the download for "AspNetMvc3Setup.exe" on this page: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=d2928bc1-f48c-4e95-a064-2a455a22c8f6
Then run the executable, which will get around having to use the web platform installer.

ASP.Net Core 2 - IIS 502.5 Error

I am creating an ASP .Net Core (2.0) MVC application within Visual Studio 2017 which was working absolutely fine.
After turning off my computer yesterday and coming back to my application today, I now receive this browser error when I start the application in chrome without debugging.
Running dotnet run within the directory of the application, I can access the site just fine. It is just when I run it via Visual Studio/IIS Express I get this error.
HTTP Error 502.5 - Process Failure
The application builds and compiles just fine. I have also cleaned the solution.
Looking in the event logs I find:
Application 'MACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/MYAPP' with
physical root 'C:\Users\Ben Hawkins\Desktop\Development Folder
\Dev\Website\Version_2\MYAPP\MYAPP\'
failed to start process with commandline 'C:\Program Files
(x86)\Microsoft Visual
Studio\2017\Community\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Microsoft\Web
Tools\ProjectSystem\VSIISExeLauncher.exe -argFile "C:\Users\Ben
Hawkins\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp3547.tmp"', ErrorCode = '0x80004005 :
0.
Within my output window in Visual Studio 2017 I recieve this message under
ASP NET CORE WebServer
Failed to initialize CoreCLR, HRESULT: 0x80131534
What I have tried:
Cleaning the solution, rebuilding etc
Restarting the computer
Trying to launch another application. (Same result)
Created a new application from scratch. Same result.
Repairing Visual Studio Community 2017. Same result.
Stopping/Closing IIS Express
My setup was working perfectly yesterday and suddenly is not.
Thank you for your time. I hope we can find a solution.
We finally found the issue! After logging on to the machine as a different user, we saw a warning that the main user had ignored initially. There was a 0 byte file in the root of the directory named "Program" with no file extension. It appears that this causes some sort of issue when VSIISExeLauncher.exe is invoked through Visual Studio. (Note it would work if executed from the command prompt). After deleting the file, everything worked!
We do not know how this file was placed there for certain, but suspect it was some sort of copy error when the user was pulling in files from his old hard drive.
I don't know if anyone else will come across this, but if so hopefully this helps!
Maybe you need install previous versions of .NET Core, isn't it? I installed here and it works now. I had only .NET Core 2.0 installed and I realized that applications with 1.1 stopped so when running. In Windows' event logs I've had the same error registered.
Try to change the IISExpress to IIS by creating new IIS profile and change the Lunch to IIS. It resolved my problem.
I have hit a very similar issue with ASP.net Core 2.0. I had copied my VS project to a new one, and I was getting this error message.
After doing some research, I was able to determine that the nlog.config file was not copied into the bin > Debug > net461 folder. Once I did this, I was able to run my application.
I found it by running dotnet run from the command line on my project where the csproj files live.
Had same issue yesterday (windows 10).
Solved it this way:
Update Microsoft.AspNetCore to latest (Nuget manager - 2.1.3)
Make sure the sdk also updated to latest version. if not, update it manually from Nuget console like this:
Install-Package Microsoft.NETCore.App -Version 2.1.3
Download and install latest ASP.NET Core/.NET Core: Runtime & Hosting Bundle
from here
Same problem with version 2.2. Reinstalling .NET Core SDK fixed the problem for us.
In my case, my project was setup as a website in IIS and the file "bin\IISSupport\VSIISExeLauncher.exe" was missing in the project's directory.
I simply selected "IIS" when debugging the project in Visual Studio 2019 and it generated the missing file. It also generated 2 text files (IISExeLauncherArgs.txt, pidfile.txt) in the IISSupport folder, made changes to my web.config file, and my project ran successfully.
After that I was able to access the local website that was setup in IIS without running it in Visual Studio.

Error while Publishing Web App in Visual Studio Professional 2013

I am trying to publish my Web App in Visual Studio Professional 2013 but getting the following error
I got the same question asked over here but no useful answer.
Can anyone please help
You probably will be using older version, that was having an issue. refer detail [here]
Install the newer web deployment tool, should work.
which .net version are you using.
check web deploy version. if vs has 2 web deploy version, the vs get confuse to take which version. If it has 2 version, just uninstall vs and then instal it along with web deploy. if the Vs has one 1 web deploy version, you uninstall and install the web deploy. It will rectify your problem i hope.
You can refer This link
Check if version 9.0.0.0 of the assembly is installed in GAC. (from the VS2013 developer command prompt) gacutil /l Microsoft.Web.Deployment. Issues like this have occurred in the past where things worked, then after installing an update (or trying to install one) then reports of missing dlls, like nuget, occur.
The usual course of action is to repair the Visual Studio installation.
There is a problem with your publish profile. Delete the pubxml file located bellow Properties folder in your project and then create a new publish profile.
I got the same problem when older project runs into the new .NET Framework, for that you have to do the following.
Right Click on your project name->select Property Pages -> Click Build from the menu-> then select Target Framework .Net framework 4.5 or your current using framework..
"Could not load file or assembly" means the required file (of that mentioned version) is not available in the assembly (nor in the registry). All you gotta to do is to ensure this same is installed properly that would allow you to proceed further. The other things to ensure is the latest framework installed on your system.
Think you have some errors happen when to install or update Visual 2013, so you can reinstall again and this error will be fixed.

VS2013 Scaffolding Error when constructing view

I'm getting a curious error when attempting to generate a view via the 'Add View' dialog. Simply leaving the dialog as is (ie creating view 'View') and hitting 'Add' yields the following error dialog:
Error: There was an error running the selected code generator: 'The Templates/PackageVersions5.0.1xml file is missing from the installed template folder.'
Which I'm afraid means little to me. I've googled the xml file to no avail.
Not really sure where to go now - I'm unable to add views to my project via scaffolding (though I can of course just by 'adding a new item' and building it myself).
How can I track down the source of this error?
Posting here because I ran into the same "file is missing" issue with Visual Studio 2019 and PackageVersions5.2.6.xml. This was one of the only pages I could find related to this scaffolding issue so I suspect others will find their way here too.
I found that upgrading the "Microsoft.AspNet.Mvc" package via NuGet to 5.2.7 was not sufficient to fix the problem. I also had to upgrade "Microsoft.AspNet.WebApi" and its related packages to 5.2.7. The Add View option started working again afterward.
Just make sure you have same version of MVC nugget in all projects, if you only have one project then upgrade/downgrade MVC to different version then revert back to the version you require and issue will get fixed.
I just changed version from 5.2.3 back to 5.2.2 and then reverted back to 5.2.3 and all worked. It appears some file got messed up or and then was restored by this.
I got same issue while using visual studio 2019 community edition, where I am able to create view using visual studio 2017.
After reading answers here, I tried upgrading Microsoft.AspNet.Mvc package, and it works for me.
I'm afraid the rather unsatisfactory solution I arrived at was to create a clean project and import the project elements in, recreating the project from scratch.
I assume that some deep-configuration had become corrupted and I was unable to work out how to fix it.
I ran into the same problem when using a project from VS2013 in VS2015. In my case it was PackageVersions5.1.3.xml that was missing. 5.1.3 seems to be the version of MVC this project was using. I updated MVC to the latest (currently 5.2.3) and this solved the issue.
The XML file should exist in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Microsoft\Web\Mvc\Scaffolding\Templates\
I had the same issue. The problem started after installing DevExpress to project. I found that DevExpress installation creates some DevExpress folders in D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Enterprise\Common7\IDE\Extensions but all necessary files for scaffolding lived in D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Professional\Common7\IDE\Extensions. I copied the content of extension folder from vs professional to enterprise restart Visual Studio and Scaffolding works again.

Mono 2.10.12 VB.Net compiler not found

I have installed Xamarin Studio and Mono 2.10.11 on my mac, then i have started a new project ASP.NET VB, and when i started that a popup was showed about an update to mono 2.10.12, i installed it but first time i was getting an error and 2. time it was installed.
When i run my first page a Hello World, i get a Visual Basic .Net compiler not found (mono 2.10.12) TestPage, if i look in project (Xamarin) i can see that it use Mono 2.10.12 under Activ Runtime.
But its showing it like
Mono 2.10.12
Mono 2.10.11 (/libery/...........)
There is no libery line after 2.10.12 when i look in my libery/frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions i have both 2.10.11 and 2.10.12 folder.
Why do i get the compiler not found error !?
I don't know why, but mono-basic is missing in the package 2.10.11. I think it's a bug and no one at Xamarin noticed it, because they are all using C#. ;(
Download Mono 2.10.9 from http://mono-project.com/OldReleases
