Xcode 4 Archive Version Unspecified
Hi,
I'm archiving an application for iPad adhoc deployment but when I try to share the archive, the option for ipa construction is not available. The application I'm trying to deploy was created using XCode 3. It worked perfectly fine over there.
My problem seems to be, that the created archive has two missing values. The organizer shows the value of "version" as "unspecified" and the value "identifier" is empty. I tried setting this values in my info.plist and in the Info-tab in the project settings. None of it worked.
So why are these values not correctly set?
Here is a screen shot:

Your Xcode project probably references one or more other Xcode projects for shared libraries that your project requires. Go through the Xcode projects for each of those shared libraries, and set each target's "Skip Install" build setting to "Yes". Then rebuild your archive. Organizer should now let you create your .ipa.

Can't create new projects in VS2013 -- most references are missing

About a week ago I noticed strange behavior with my install of Visual Studio 2013 Pro. Creating new projects always results in missing references to EntityFramework and most of the Microsoft.* components. I had reinstalled .NET 4.5 in repair mode around that time but can't recall if this problem happened before or after that install.
As it stands, I can no longer create a functioning project. I have an existing project I'm working on that will compile and run without issue, but creating any new projects (which I need for spike solutions etc) is no longer possible until this is fixed.
Screenshots follow. These are all from creating a new MVC project with all defaults accepted.
References list showing missing references
Error list upon building
Reference paths are empty (this was mentioned in another answer that did not directly address my specific question, so I'm including it)
Regedit showing .NET versions installed
Even though I have "repaired" .NET 4.5 it appears from regedit that I only have up to .NET 4 installed? Am I reading that correctly?
Also, due to network restrictions I cannot download packages from Nuget automatically -- I have to download them manually from a laptop off-network and then sneakernet them over to install. The network physically blocks all connections to Nuget, github, etc.
If allowing VS to connect to Nuget is the only viable option then I have considered installing VS on the laptop, creating the project there and installing all necessary dependencies, and then moving the project folder over to the restricted computer and continuing from there. But I don't know if that is a solution to this problem or not.
Any advice appreciated, thanks.

It's almost like they don't want you to be productive.
Anyway the project templates (which you seem to be talking about) reference specific NuGet packages. Packages by default are stored relative to your solution.
Place a nuget.config in your disk's root (or any point into your projects directory, if you keep them organized like C:\Dev\Visual Studio\Projects, then each of those subfolders will be file) and point in that file to a shared package directory on your development machine. Here you can dump all packages you require.

Visual Studio Apache Cordova - IOS build rotation issue

I'm a starter in writing app code in Visual Studio 2013 Community Apache Cordova and have managed to connect VS2013 with my Mac. Once I have gone through the process of building the app in VS and on my Mac and installing in on my iPhone, I open it up and it won't rotate. It doesn't rotate for a number of basic apps that I've written nor does it rotate if I build the default new project "Hello, your application is ready!" app.
I have done some research and tried changing the config.xml "Orientation" preference to "both", through the code window and also in the designer window but that doesn't change anything. I've also noticed that adding in a "BackgroundColor" preference doesn't work either.
Does anyone know if I may have configured something incorrectly or perhaps need to add something to my code?
All the HTML, JS and CSS that I've written seems to work okay (with the exception of trying to link URLs to the Safari Browser but that's another issue).
I have noticed the same issues. I tried finding some settings to fix that in the config.xml, but was not successful. I have resolved myself to just opening the iOS project in XCode and changing a few things:
Device Orientation: no matter the config.xml setting, its always only Portrait. I click-check the other 3 orientations.
Team: I have multiple developer profiles, and I need to choose correct one here.
Bundle Identifier. I screwed up one project, and have different case for iOS and Android. I leave the VS one as the Android one, so I can build completely correct for Android. Since I know I have to go to XCode for iOS anyway, I change the bundle identifier here.
You can find the project using Finder at ~/remote-builds/builds/9999/cordovaApp/platforms/ios/*.xcodeproj, where 9999 is the build number, though not necessarily the latest, largest number, but the latest datetime of the folder.
You can also refer to Greg's answer in this related post as an alternative solution.

Can't submit app with CorePlot using Xcode4

I created an application in XCode 4 that uses Core Plot.
I installed Core plot as an aditional SDK following the instructions from here:http://code.google.com/p/core-plot/wiki/UsingCorePlotInApplications (Install SDK)
The instructions for "static Library" haven't been updated yet fro XCode 4.
I can run the app in the simulator, install it on my iPhone and everything works just ok. I was even able to send it to beta testers using several services like TestFlight. For this, I had to generate an archive and then "share" by generating the .ipa file. No single problem here.
Now, when I try to validate/submit the app I got this error:
I'm selecting the "distribution" configuration, then product -> archive, then in the Organizer I try "validate" or "submit", but I always get this same result.
I also made sure that the "skip install" is set to NO. This part is confusion, Apple says it should be YES and many posts here say it should be NO. If I set it to YES, the app is not even archived.
At this point I'm not even sure if the issue is the "skip install" flag or core plot. I found this question: http://code.google.com/p/core-plot/issues/detail?id=280, so I think my issue may be related.
If I open the archive file, this is what is inside:
Any ideas/suggestions will be truly appreciated.
I had the same issue for both TestFlight and App Store.
The solution for me was to archive the app, and in the organizer select "Don't sign" when you try to validate/submit or share (in the case of TestFlight).
Hope this helps.

Using Git to Manage a Shared Project? Using Folders (not groups) in Project?

Was looking for a bit of Light on a few questions we have on xCode 4. Up until now My team and I have been working on our Own projects on our own Drives. Though we are close to integrating our projects and wanted to know which Source Control we should be using to manage our Project. With xCode 4 it seems that Git is Preferred. I setup a repository on GitHub though I don't think its really what we are looking for as It does not seem that xCode knows if files from gitHub are checked in/out, only if they have changed from the last push/pull.
When Pushing my Project to GitHub I don't know why I was surprised that the Groups I created xCode didn't get converted to Folders in the Repository, but I was... In trying to put all of the code files in folders that were represented by my groups I'm running into all my includes not being found as they are in subfolders. Should I just not worry about it and put everything in groups and let xcode put 600 some odd files in the one Project folder, or is there a better way to manage the individual files and references to them?
Thanks!

Installed MVVMLight - doing WP7 - VS2010 works fine; Blend 4 doesn't

I can create an MVVMLight phone app in VS2010. It runs as it should. I can open it in Blend 4. That's all fine.
When I create a new WP7 MVVM project in Blend, several things are wrong:
1. Just compiling, get "A start page has not been specified...." WMAppManifest.xml has incomplete Task section. NavigationPage attrib. with MainPage.xaml is not there.
2. When I manually fix that and build, I get "Project could not be built." It references Microsoft.Phone.Controls.dll and Microsoft.Phone.Control.Navigation (no .dll--and not found, of course).
A non-MVVM Blend phone project correctly references Microsoft.Phone.dll (and Microsoft.Phone.Interop.dll). And it works fine.
Where have I gone wrong in my MVVM installation for Blend 4?
Thanks.
Unfortunately, the newest version of Blend 4 for Windows Phone 7 does not support custom template. What you see now in Blend are the old project templates.
I am aware that the install process at the moment is terrible, and I am working with members of the community to solve that issue (including cleaning up old files).
In the mean time, if you want to clean up old files, there is a list at http://www.galasoft.ch/mvvm/cleaning. Again, sorry that the process is manual at this time.
Cheers,
Laurent
