I'm uploading my app to App Store and I created it in iTunes Connect.
I just uploaded my 512x512px icon and then I opened Version Summary page to verify my information...
I've got a set of icon that just have gloss effect. In Version Summary page I see my 512x512px icon with automatic gloss added.
Is there a way to prevent this? My large app icon mustn't have gloss...
In my info.plist I added the line "Icon already includes gloss effects" and I checked the box near it...
Can anyone help me?
According to 512x512 image for AppStore (iTunes Connect), will Apple do corner rounding like they do on the phone?, Apple does in fact check the app for the UIPrerenderedIcon flag. Once the app is uploaded, the 512x512 large icon will pick up the correct setting.
This Apple Dev Document includes all of the information you should need for you icon.
The plist entry you are looking for to disable the added gloss is UIPrerenderedIcon. That should prevent Apple from adding gloss. However it will apply to all of you icons.

I've got a BrowseFragment displaying some api-loaded content using the Leanback Support Library. I'm also showing a custom logo in the top right hand corner using the setBadgeDrawable method on the BrowseFragment. This logo is included in the apk in the res folder. It appears as expected on an Android TV emulator, however when I install the binary onto an Amazon Fire TV stick, the logo disappears. All other functionality of the application is identical on Amazon Fire TV.
The image is a PNG and here is how I'm setting it:
setBadgeDrawable(getActivity().getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.logo));
Any reason why this would be happening? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Apparently Amazon Fire TV has a size limit on the image. Once I shrunk the image, worked just fine. Weird.
I have a weird problem. Every time I go to a website who have the material icon I got the name of the icon, not the images. It's hard now when I use material to know which icon to use if I can't see what they look. The thing it's for my own app that working but other app this is what I got.
Do I need to reinstall Chrome ? My version is 53.0.2785.143

This is Firebase look at the top right in the search.
I found the answer. I remove Material-Icons from my local fonts in my mac and now after a page refresh all work.
Hi there I just uploaded a new app to the App Store. It all looks great but in the App Store my icon appears with a gloss effect. I changed the relevant "Icon already includes gloss effects = YES" in my XCode and the icon doesn't have gloss on the device when I download it (tried multiple devices).
Any ideas?
Thanks
Settings for how your app appears in the App Store are in iTunes Connect. You can't change the icon for a version that is approved by Apple, but when you create a new version, check the settings on the icon before submitting.
Is there any way to access the internal images that the iPhone simulator uses?
For example, if I want to get the original image used for one of the default app icons (e.g. Contacts). This way I could get the highest possible resolution, and examine it for purposes of creating similar icons for my app.
Another example of an image I might want to access is the default icon for a contact:
I'm not asking for a programmatic solution (although that would work), I'm asking for a manual solution, possibly navigating the Simulator's file system using Finder.
You can find the apps at e.g. /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator4.1.sdk/Applications. The icon of Contacts is at /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator4.1.sdk/Applications/Contacts.app/icon.png or icon#2x.png. But you can't easily read them, as they are in a strange format (it's not standard PNG), you need to convert them. See for example this article or this article.
EDIT: added two more links for iphone icon images.
You dont need to do this.
Just grab a User Interface Kit:
Heres a website you can go to to download the .psd files which you can use for your self for free:
http://webdesignledger.com/freebi
For another library of iphone icons. This one includes the contacts icon:
http://www.iphonestudio.co.uk/page/iphone_icon_gallery
And here are the iphone icons on the main screen made downloadable for your own use.
here are official icons in different sizes.
check the quality of the Photos icon.
wow.

I've written a small Processing App which I'm planning to release soon. What's still missing is a sweet custom icon for Titlebar/Taskbar (Win) and Dock (Mac). Any suggestions how to do this?
Thx!
Meanwhile I figured it out on my own:
Obviously this works for Mac OS by replacing the sketch.icns file within the exported app, for win & liunx is done by adding this line to your setup method:
frame.setIconImage( getToolkit().getImage("sketch.ico") );
It depends if you have any artistic ability or not.
If not, then you can hire an icon designer to do one, or search the web for free icons - there are billions.
If you have a modicum of artisticness, then you could grab a free icon that is almost what you want and then tweak it. IcoFX is a great free application for doing this sort of thing.
If you think you have what it takes to draw an icon from scratch, then a good plan is to use a vector art package. This allows you to export the same graphic at multiple resolutions so you can get top quality at every icons size you need (from 16x16 to 256x256). Alternatively, draw a large (512x512) verison in a bitmap editor and then downscale it as required. As long as you start big and downscale, you shouldn't have any problems (although to get a good icon at 16x16 and 32x32 you will still need a good eye and a lot of manual tweaking).
In your code, just type this line:
frame.setIconImage( getToolkit().getImage("sketch.ico") );
For Windows/Linux, this will do it. For Mac/OSX, follow these steps:
Find your sketch in Finder
Right click > info, or CmdI
Find your icon and open it in Preview
In Preview, click on your icon and press CmdA or right click > select all
In Preview, press CmdC, or right click > copy
Go back to Finder. Click on the current icon of your sketch. You'll know you've selected it when a blue outline appears. Press CmdV, or right click > paste
Tips:
The standard icon size is 512x512
When making your icon, make sure that your transparencies are working
