Is there any way to access the internal images that the iPhone simulator uses?
For example, if I want to get the original image used for one of the default app icons (e.g. Contacts). This way I could get the highest possible resolution, and examine it for purposes of creating similar icons for my app.
Another example of an image I might want to access is the default icon for a contact:
I'm not asking for a programmatic solution (although that would work), I'm asking for a manual solution, possibly navigating the Simulator's file system using Finder.
You can find the apps at e.g. /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator4.1.sdk/Applications. The icon of Contacts is at /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator4.1.sdk/Applications/Contacts.app/icon.png or icon#2x.png. But you can't easily read them, as they are in a strange format (it's not standard PNG), you need to convert them. See for example this article or this article.
EDIT: added two more links for iphone icon images.
You dont need to do this.
Just grab a User Interface Kit:
Heres a website you can go to to download the .psd files which you can use for your self for free:

For another library of iphone icons. This one includes the contacts icon:

And here are the iphone icons on the main screen made downloadable for your own use.
here are official icons in different sizes.
check the quality of the Photos icon.

I have NH working ok, but I want to have an image accompany the push. Basically, this image is a branding option, so it wouldn't change for each push, but could change occasionally.
This seems pretty straightforward for WNS, using the App Logo Override option.
Can something similar be done for iOS and Android? I haven't played with them yet and I don't really need a whole solution, I just can't seem to find it spelled out like it is for WNS.
I did see an example for iOS that involved sending a silent notification that prompted the user to see the image, but that's not what I'm trying to do.
I just want a message from a particular vendor to have their little logo on it.
Is this possible?
TIA
Turns out the best way to do this is to send a URL for an image in the template and substitute it for the applogo image source. Remember that when you do that, the system will not automatically size it for you.
I'm a beginner and I'm trying to use photoswiper in a PhoneGap app. I'm trying to use this example :
that works great in any browser, but just don't work on any device.
When I open, it's like I have a css issue since I don't see any king of style and when I touch any image, I just see it full size but can't swipe to see the next one.
Any help will be appreciated!
May be you should mention all sites with external resources in the WhiteList?
I'm working with fast report and I would like to change their default preview toolbar.
I need to replace some of the icons with icons of my own, and I need the ability to add my own custom buttons.
I looked at this thread from their support.
It mentions how to just change the icons to other fast-report provided icons, but I need to put in custom icons and add new buttons.
Has anyone done this before? Or knows whether this is possibly with FastReport.
If you have the professional edition of fastreports you have access to the source code.
I have heard of people editing this and recompiling to create thier own custom preview window
just a quick question, i know this is usually done on a website but is it okay to add icon credits in the "about" screen of a mobile Application espercially for paid Apps like in Iphone or android. Has anybody seen this being done?. just wondering if it sounds professional. Thank you.
Yes, your icons are probably licenced under LGPL or Creative Commons and this is exactly what these licences suggest for putting the credits.
Most places that require you to "credit" them if you use their IP don't specify the place in your app that this credit should show up. Normally in desktop apps, the about page is a reliable place to find these credits. I believe the about page in a mobile app is also a reliable place. So unless the icons you have to credit specify the manner in which you need to credit them, this seems ok.
Apple recommends you don't use the loading screen as an about or splash screen:
Supply a launch image to improve user
experience; avoid using it as an
opportunity to provide:
An “application entry experience,”
such as a splash screen
An About window
Branding elements, unless they
are a static part of your
application’s first screen
(my emphasis)
I suggest you keep such icons and references to components on the developer web page about the product, rather than in the application itself.
I have a psd image with me. This image has been created combining multiple images. I want that each of this multiple images must have a seperate alt tag and a hyperlink. When the user clicks on it, he/she should be taken to the that url.
How can I do it. Please suggest me all options like open source or online tools etc.
Take a look here: Medialab's SiteGrinder. This is a PS plugin which transforms your PSD into a working webpage, I use it for prototyping and to figure out px distances and such, there are services out there too, but have a look at this tutorial too.
Hope they help.
