If the planets are not correctly aligned when I run a Flex 3.5 build, the .swf produced immidiatly throws a null-object error from the _MyAppWatercherSetupUtil:

Is there anything I can do about this?
I've tried debugging it, but it seems like the Flex framework goes out of its way to make sure it's impossible to debug into the generated codeā¦
I just upgraded an old Flex 3 app to Flex 4.6 and had the same problem. What worked for me was a project clean. So far so good.

I was struggeling today with a WatcherSetupUil/setup() TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
For me it looks there is a strong connection to databinding. For me it looks this happens if you do not take care of the rules that Flex asks for. I found a resource online I upload here: "Flex data binding pitfalls: 10 common misuses and mistakes." After changing - in my case especially error 6 - Using the wrong bindable event name - took the WatcherSetupUtil away.
Perhaps this is helpful for you too :-).

It would be interesting to have a glimpse at generated code for "setup" method for your MyAppWatcherSetupUtil class
Just an idea - did you try to set the compiler flag -keep? Like this you may have a look how your class looks like.

I have a view that I have created that seems to crash and cause 500 server errors as soon as I use conditional filters with it.
The error that my server logs are giving me is:
*mod_fcgid:stderr: PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method stdClass::can_expose() in /sites/all/modules/contrib/views/views.module on line 1971*
So I did a grep for the can_expose function and see it fine in /sites/all/modules/contrib/views/includes/handlers.inc
I'm more convinced that its something that I might be doing wrong in my setup of the view - but I can't be sure (I'm a noob). This only seems to appear on this view that uses conditionals (and I have tried changing them numerous times to different things, seeing if that will change).
If I don't use conditional filters though - the view works fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Ryan
Just for kicks, I recreated the view and it works fine. My thought is that something in the original view got corrupt somehow.
Workaround is in place, however - if anyone else has seen this issue, I would love to understand why this error happens
I have a CMFCMenuButton on a CDialogBar that has a very strange behaviour: it shows its dropdown list in the Debug build but does not show it in the Release build.
Debug build:
Release build:
It seems that there is happening something wrong in the call of __super::OnShowMenu() of the OnShowMenu() method of my derived class.
To make thing worse, there is some configuration on my machine that is not stepping into the MFC feature pack methods ... I made everything to put this working and I could not get there.
Please help.
Sorry, it was my mistake:
On my derived class OnShowMenu function, I had to replace:
pMyMenu= new CMenu;
ASSERT(pMyMenu->CreatePopupMenu());
this->m_hMenu= pMyMenu->GetSafeHmenu();
with this:
pMyMenu= new CMenu;
pMyMenu->CreatePopupMenu();
this->m_hMenu= pMyMenu->GetSafeHmenu();
Yes, the bug was caused by the ASSERT.
I am trying to find out the error for two days but still haven't got this unknown reason figure out.
I have configured and compiled Botan library. Everything goes ok but when try to write this sample code to be run..
S2K* s2k = get_s2k("PBKDF2(SHA-256)");
s2k->set_iterations(4049);
SecureVector<byte> key_and_IV = s2k->derive_key(48, passphrase).bits_of();
SymmetricKey key(key_and_IV, 32);
it says error: 'class Botan::PBKDF' has no member named 'set_iterations'
How can I solve this problem ?
The Botan docs for v1.11.1 report that the function get_s2k() has been deprecated, recommending that you use get_pbkdf() instead.
According to the docs, get_sdk(algospec) just returns the result of a call to get_pbkdf(algo_spec) which will give you a pointer to an instance of the class Botan::PBKDF.
First things first then, your code needs to be something more like:
PBKDF *s2k = getpbkdf("PBKDF2(SHA-256)");
Unfortunately without knowing what you want to do with s2k I can't help any further, as the docs have no reference to a public member function of PBKDF called set_iterations(). You're getting the error you mention because Botan::PBKDF really does have no member named set_iterations. You need to read the docs, work out what the purpose of set_iterations() was in your now deprecated example and hence how to achieve that purpose in the newer version of the library.
Possibly you missed your library header... as your error message says: 'has no member named...'
I created a javascript file TTW for a quick fix to something i was working with, and when i went to the portal_javascripts and added it there i was met with this error upon saving:
Exception Type: CompilerError
Exception Value: Path element may not be empty in 'portal/http://www.example.com/portal_skins/cloud.js'
I get that same error every time i attempt to navigate to the portal_javascripts through the ZMI, it's obvious that I incorrectly entered the id of my file, but now I can't even fix it.
I was able to find this example of someone with a similiar issue, but I have no how to go about his fix

Try this:

I have a parts application that is built on Flex 3 and I having a problem with the parts list. The parts list uses two objects:
Part
ArrayOfPart
I cache the parts list locally in a SharedObject. This has been working fine for a couple months. I added a new Boolean property to the Part class and re-imported web services (which shouldn't have affected anything) and now, I can save the ArrayOfPart SharedObject fine, but when I try to retrieve the SharedObject, I get "ArgumentError: Error #1063: Argument count mismatch on ArrayOfPart. Expected 1, got 0. AND then it DELETES my SOL file completely.
(I used RegisterClass on Part and ArrayOfPart, so they both are serializable to SharedObjects)
Here's the steps I followed to get the error:
Save the shared object:
so = SharedObject.getLocal("PartsList");
so.data.AllParts = AllParts;
so.flush();
Verify the SharedObject:
The SharedObject PartsList.sol exists where it should
I opened the SharedObject file and the ArrayOfPart data looks valid
Restart the application and it retrieves the parts list from the SharedObject. This is the line that throws the Error #1063 and causes the sol file to be deleted:
so = SharedObject.getLocal("PartsList");
It looks like the data may not be well-formed when it's saved in the SharedObject? Is this possible?
I solved my own problem.
The ArrayOfPart had a constructor with a parameter. When I removed the constructor, the error went away.
By the way, this was Flash 9.
This looks like a tough one.
I don't think it is a formation or serialization issue. Maybe something else in your code is writing to the shared object?
Is there any way you can share your source? This would help as I personally don't have enough info to diagnose what is going on w/o seeing the rest of the code :(
Also....
Is there anything else that is writing to or changing this shared object?
Are all my objects created in AS3 or are some in MXML (I have noticed that the Flex compiler does not always do a good job figuring out MXML).
What version of Flash do I have?
If its Flash 10 does the same problem occur in Flash 9?
Does this happen in all browsers and on all platforms?
Just a hunch, but, since I installed Flash Player 10, I am seeing lots of errors with Shared Objects when browsing. Could it be related to newly introduced sandbox/security restrictions?
