OpenLayers has a good example which I would like to reuse:
http://openlayers.org/dev/examples/dynamic-text-layer.html
But when I download it and run on my machine, it does not work.
It also does not work when I download
OpenLayers-2.10.zip from openlayers.org site, unpack it on my machine and run this example.
When I say "does not work" I mean the map is displayed but there are no POIs/markers/popups.
I use windows XP.
It seems this example does NOT use proxy.cgi.
Could you please help me?
What I am doing wrong?
Thank you in advance
Maxim
The example you are trying to run is reading points from a text file(textfile.txt) that is fetched asynchronously. In order to get this work you have to run this code on a webserver. I guess you are running code directly from filesystem, i.e. doubleclick dynamic-text-layer.html file.
You could install Visual Studio 2010 express which is free. It has built in webserver so you will only have to open OpenLayers 2.10 map as a Web Site and push "Run"

I wrote a Shiny app, and now I need to turn it into a Stand-Alone Program. The reasoning behind this is that I need to share the app but can't do this with shinyapps.io or a server as I need the app to be able to access user's folders.
So far, I found these 2 tutorials: deploying-desktop-apps and packaging-your-shiny-app. Both of them (supposedly) work on Windows, but I have a Mac, and I want to app to be available for users of all systems, or at least Mac and Linux. Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated!
I actually tried to follow the tutorial mentioned above, and can't even install R-portable for my Mac. So I'm looking for something different.
Running a Virtual Machine to follow Windows tutorial is an option, but in this case, the app will be Windows-specific, and I don't want this.
This thread is really old I know, but I'm also trying to find answers on creating a standalone version of R for Mac.
This would support for
https://github.com/chasemc/electricShine
which supports Windows
I've got a QT application running in a redhat 6.5 server and displayed in a redhat 6.5 server X, with OpenBox as a window manager.
I want to automatize GUI tests, so I choose ldtp (maybe not the best choice, I'm open to suggestions). Ldtp works with the accessibility tool, for disable people.
My problem is that I can't manage to activate at-spi-registry in OpenBox. When I come back to the gnome desktop, I manage to do it, and ldtp works fine, but that is not what I want.
Can anyone help me ?
Thank you.
I finally manage to understand where was the mistake, at-spi-registry need (in my case) a gnome-session to work properly. There is maybe a way for OpenBox to simulate such a session, but I didn't figure it out and if it was possible couldn't be done. I had to keep the testing environment and the production one identical.
So, I took another gui testing tool, name SikuliX. it works perfectly on my platform, it is using OpenCV for image recognition instead of accessibility tool.
I just learned about the Intel XDK at Indiecade today, and I couldn't wait to get home to try a port of one of my Construct 2 games. The game ended up working perfectly, aside from the fact that it has no sound when played on my Galaxy S5. The Intel XDK Emulator plays the game with sound, but for some reason it doesn't work on my phone. My volume is all the way up. Are there any tips when importing C2 games with the Intel kit to make sure the sound is preserved?
One thing I might add is when I run the app, it gives me an error message as though I am trying to run it locally in my computer. The actual message:
Alert: Exported games won't work until you upload them. (When running on the file:/// protocol, browsers block many features from working for security reasons.)
And then it auto-jumps to:
Application Error: The connection to the server was unsuccessful. (file:///android_asset/www/index.html)
... as a matter of fact it stopped working altogether after the two error messages while I was typing this question.
Edit: OK... so I exported it within the XDK as Crosswalk rather than simply Android, and the music now works. However, the first error message I mentioned before still shows up. I won't want this on all of my apps. Any way to get rid of it?
OK so this is what I did wrong: When I exported through Construct 2, I did what I always do and exported as a web app. What I should've done is export it as an Android app. I seriously don't know why I didn't try this first but after exporting as Android and then using the Intel XDK to port it with Crosswalk, everything is peachy.
I found my answer here: https://www.scirra.com/blog/133/introducing-crosswalk-the-new-way-to-publish-to-android
I'm glad you found the answer here; I knew there would be a way :)
Just wanted to chip in as a follow-up, there is a webinar tomorrow for a much more in-depth tour of the XDK and its features - including crosswalk - than I was able to provide at IndieCade. Let me know if it works out for you!
Thanks,
Brad

This happens if you export as a normal html5 and not as Cordova app.
I had the same problem. I'm calling other HTML offline and solved the problem with this post:
https://software.intel.com/en-us/xdk/docs/adding-third-party-plugins-to-your-xdk-cordova-app
How Do I Reference cordova.js Script from My Project index.html File
To enable the use of Cordova plugins in an HTML5+Cordova project type, reference the cordova.js script file exactly once in your index.html file:
If your project contains more than one HTML file (or page) that will use Cordova APIs, you must include a reference to the cordova.js script file in each of those HTML files. It is highly recommended that you limit yourself to building single-page apps (SPAs) when creating Cordova applications. See this Cordova Best Practices article for more details. Also, note that the cordova.js file is a "phantom" file; it is not present in your project directory, but is added by the Cordova build system when your application is built (it is customized for your app as part of the build process).
Ok.. I have looked through this site and just can't seem to find the answer I am looking for.
We have a multi server setup for our web sites, typically (DEV/QA/PRODUCTION). Our sites are .net which require some sort of build before being deployed. We are using SVN for source control and are looking for a tool/website/something that will allow our project managers to push button deploy changes to the different environments. It seems there is no silver bullet for this, am I correct in this assumption?
I like the functionality of Springloops but can't find any information regarding its use with .net. Sparing details, it would be nice to see a diagram of sorts on the whole end to end process. What I mean by that is, if multiple different tools are the only answer (no silver bullet), then a diagram that shows where the tools sit in relation to the whole process.
Look at CruiseControl.Net. It'll let you automate your builds and if there are errors it can notify certain people and even flash a big red light in the office.
The other thing it can do is automatically deploy to a chosen region such as Dev/Test/Stage/Prod when there are no errors.
Though you may want to make Prod a manual press of a button. :)
The new on click publishing features in Visual Studio 2010 are pretty easy to set up ans use: http://vishaljoshi.blogspot.com/2009/05/web-1-click-publish-with-vs-2010.html
Supports configuring IIS and deploying SQL packages too.
There is a msdeploy.exe file included in the that you could setup to run with .bat files or some configurable script runner.
Try ClickOnce deployment. Once a update is deployed on the server the client applications are automatically get updated on every client on their next run.
I would like to build a website in ASP.NET, which would display many equations. I would like to generate them automaticly, so I need to use some library, that would allow me to generate images from TeX or LaTex dynamicly. For performance resaons, I would like to have it running on my local server.
I tried to used MimeTex with the Eq2Img project from CodeProject, but I was not satisfied with the quality of the images, and couldn't find any options to customize it.
Now I'm trying to use Mathtran, but as the official FAQ says: "You'll need a Unix or Linux server with TeX, Python and dvipng installed.".
My question is: is someone sucessfull in using Mathtran running locally with ASP.NET application, or can give some other solution to the problem?
Thanks for any answer!
You can roll your own solution pretty easily. Feed your source to LaTeX to create a DVI file. Then use dvipng to create a PNG file, and then show that in your web page.
Edit: more detail and other options available from WikiBooks.
The FAQ also says: "The software that provides this service is open source, and can be downloaded and installed on your own web-server or desktop machine (Unix/Linux only at present)." Since you can definitely get TeX, Python, and dvipng for Windows, you just need to replace whatever Unix infrastructure Mathtran is using with similar Windows parts. Most likely the developers of Mathtran just haven't had the need to use a Windows server themselves, and the wording "at present" suggests that they would likely accept a patch to make it work on Windows too.
Can you use the MathTran web service per http://www.mathtran.org/wiki/index.php/TeX_image?
