In our current project we use .properties files as external files. When building our project the properties files are not added to the bin debug (output folder). Xml files are added without any problem.
Does anybody know how I can add the .properties extension to a kind of exclusion filter list or something, so flash builder will add this files to my output folder instead of ignoring them?
(I'm using Flash builder beta 2 as plugin for Eclipse)
Thanks a lot.
Wannes
Remove .properties from the exclusion list under Window > Preferences > Flash Builder > File Exclusions > File Extensions.
This should do the job.
In the Project Properties, under Flex Compiler there is a checkbox that allows you to "Copy non-embedded files to output folder".
That should work.
A quick solution for that would be to change the "properties" suffix to "xml"
It will auto copy your files
I didn't find a quick solution for that also, but I don't have a lot of time to waste trying to find bug fixes for Adobe :)

In Netbeans 7.4 you can configure LESS or SASS compilers. You can check the option to Compile on Save. That works great. But how can I trigger this action manually from Netbeans? I deleted the destination folder and want to recompile everything but I can't find how.
I believe it is not possible. But perhaps you could try to open project properties (right click on project) and in css preprocessors setting (see here) try one of following:
uncheck the "Compile on Save" option, confirm dialog and the open project properties again and check this option back. It could trigger recompilation
if the above won't help, try to remove all settings in the "Watch", confirm dialog and then enter your setting in the Watch section again
You need to change the paths of the css and less folders in your projects to the correct one. It should be relative to the project folder.
So if you have a folder named assets in the root of your project and inside it 2 folders css and less then their paths in the project CSS preprocessors settings should be /assets/less and /assets/css.
As soon as you correct this your less files should compile on next save
I'm using NetBeans IDE 8.2 in August 2017, and there is a Recompile All Files button in Project Properties > CSS Preprocessors.
Less runs on save in netbeans and there isn't any menu item or shortcut.
If you want to activate the setup on save and you have problems i recommend to delete the less lines in your project.properties file going to the file tab and searching for the file in the nbproject/project.properties.
I have recently upgraded to VS2012 and have a small issue. All our sass files are checked into source control and the corresponding css file gets generated when the project is built (the css file is never part of source control). with VS2012, as soon as i edit the sass file, a css file is created under the sass file (nested under it) and the project file is checked out. I do not want this as we don't need to check in the css file.
Is there an option i can set to avoid this ? Had a quick look under tools ->options but didnt see anything
The only plugin we have installed is Mindscape Web Workbench free version.
Thank you for any advice.
So the Web Workbench plugin was automatically modifying the project file and including the following under my scss files. This was still present even when i disabled and removed the plugin. There's no option to disable this function in Web Workbench, so i wont be using it anymore.
<Compile>True</Compile>
<Minify>True</Minify>
<CompileStyle>Nested</CompileStyle>
<DebugInfo>False</DebugInfo>
Using SassyStudio now which is nice and simple.Has the option to disable auto css creation and project adding etc.
Hope this explanation can help someone else.
In my Qt application we can open a help file (chm) by doing the following:
QDesktopServices::openUrl(QUrl::fromLocalFile(_PathToTheCHMFile));
This seems to be the suggested way of doing things. And it has worked up until now.
However, the documentation team has now changed how the chm files work. Now we are referencing a "master" file which only contains references to other chm files. The directory structure of the chm files is as follows:
master.chm
SUBDIR/
-> child1.chm
-> child2.chm
...
If open the master.chm file with hh.exe (the default tool in windows), everything looks perfect. However, from my Qt application, the help file opens, but there are no sub topics, just the root node.
I assume this is a search path issue, and it can't resolve the relative paths. There doesn't seem to be any way to configure the openURL call to run from a certain directory, or anything like that.
Thanks in advance
If you need to be able to access those elements properly, then you may need to change your applications current directory on the fly.
http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/qdir.html#details
http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/qdir.html#setCurrent
If that doesn't work, you may want to look into using QProcess::startDetached
http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/qprocess.html#startDetached
and specifying the working directory to be exactly where your master.chm is located.
You may want to specify some command-line arguments, too.
http://www.help-info.de/en/Help_Info_HTMLHelp/hh_command.htm
Hope that helps.
I'm looking at Flash Builder for my next project. I'm following some tutorials, yet I keep getting stuck at the same part. The tutorials I am following tell me to add a SWC files (containing my art) and should be in a library project.
I can create the library project and use it as a reference in my application. However, when I try to add the SWC file to the "Flex Library Build Path" the OK button does nothing. The same happens if I try to add a SWC or SWC Folder.
I' m using Flash Builder 4.6 (trial version) if that makes any difference. Below is a screenshot of the window that I am talking about in case I'm not very clear.
It has also happened to me.
There is workaround - just place SWC into /libs directory of your project and perform clean. SWCs there will be loaded automatically.
Make sure you have added the folder to the Workspace's linked resources. In Flash Builder, go to menu Windows > Preferences > General > Workspace > Linked Resources, and add a new path variable to the component directory. After this, the component can be added to the project's Flex Library path.
I think this is a bug of flash builder. It has also happened to me. And I can not choose the output path in fb....
I found a way, first, delete this project, delete evrey thing fb created itself except the source code, then u can swith ur fb to a new workspace, add creat a new project, u will see that u can add the swc file now.finally, switch back to the workspace u worked with before......
Using Adobe Flex Builder Pro stand-alone, how do I filter or exclude some files in my project source folder from being copied into the bin-debug folder during a build? Flex Builder is based on the Eclipse platform IDE, this could be as much of a question about Eclipse as it is Flex Builder.
You can prevent Flex from copying all extra files like this:
Within Flex Navigator panel, right-click on the Flex project
Choose Properties
Click on "Flex Compiler" on the left
Under "Compiler Options" DESELECT "Copy non-embedded files to output folder"
Click OK
If you want to include some but not others, then you can use a custom Ant build script to do the build and copy the limited files you want to copy.
Eclipse allows you to specify include and exclude patterns on the Java build path. The following describes how to exclude files from the Java path, there may be an equivalent on the Flex Build Path properties page.
Update: This is how it is done in Java, I imagine that the Flex Build Path would implement it in a similar way if at all. As someone has kindly voted me down for saying that it might be done this way it appears that this is not supported in Flex.
Open the project Properties (right-click->Properties or Alt-Enter)
Select Java Build Path and the Source tab.
Expand a source folder and select the Excluded: child item
Select Edit...
on the dialog, you can then specify one or more glob patterns to exclude files from the path
If you want to exclude specific resources but still include non-embedded files you can add a Resource Filter.
Open the project Properties
Select Resource > Resource Filters
Add a Resource Filter by clicking Add... on the right
Set Filter type to Exclude all
Set Applies to to Files and folders and select All children (recursive)
Specifiy the File and Folder Attributes (i.e.: Name matches ".git")
Click OK and then Apply to save your new Resource Filters.
Clean the project by going to Project > Clean... and clicking OK
This process can also be used to create an "Include Only" resource filter, essentially white-listing instead of black-listing.
