Im having some warnings in this section... The main problem its the use of () and $$. I dont know when to use and when not.

$[] used for substitution. i.e it evaluate value and put instead. Result should be 1 or 0 for ExecIf.

ExecIf with GOTO is VERY VERY bad practice, you have GotoIf application.

I'm fairly new to Julia and am trying to figure out how to check if the given expression is contained in a Dict I've created.

"owl" is the name of my dictionary that I'm trying to check. I want to run the return statement should expr[1] be either "+,-,* or /".
A standard approach to check if some dictionary contains some key would be:
:+ in keys(owl)
or
haskey(owl, :+)
Your solution depends on the fact that you are sure that 0 is not one of the values in the dictionary, which might not be true in general. However, if you want to use such an approach (it is useful when you do not want to perform a lookup in the dictionary twice: once to check if it contains some key, and second time to get the value assigned to the key if it exists) then normally you would use nothing as a sentinel and then perform the check get_return_value !== nothing (note two = here - they are important for the compiler to generate an efficient code). So your code would look like this:

Note that I use myparse name, as parse is a function defined in Base, so we do not want to have a name clash. Finally your myparse is recursive so you should define a second method to this function handling the case when expr is not an Array{Any}.
I feel like an idiot for finding this so fast, but I came up with the following solution: (Willing to hear more efficient answers however)

"yes" should get set equal to 0 if the expression is not found in the dictionary "owl". So a simple != if statement to see if it's zero fixes my problem.
How can I use keywords with Oracle named parameters syntax ? The following gives me 'ORA-00936: missing expression' because of the 'number'-argument:

Although you can get around the reserved word issue in your call by enclosing the name in double quotes as #AvrajitRoy suggested, i.e. ... "NUMBER"=>1) = 'TRUE'..., you aren't actually achieving much. Oracle is letting you refer to the parameters by name but it isn't doing anything with that information.
MDSYS.SDO_NN is a spatial operator, not a direct call to a function. There is a function backing it up - you can see from the schema scripts for MDSYS that it's actually calling prtv_idx.nn - but the names of the formal parameters of that function are not relevant. With some digging you can see those are actually called geom, geom2, mask etc., and there isn't one called number (and you can't have a formal parameter called number, even quoting it, as far as I can tell).
The formal parameters to the operator are not named, and are effectively passed through positionally. You can't skip an argument by naming the others, as you can with a function/procedure with arguments that have default values.
So that means you can call the parameters anything you want in your call; changing the names of the first three parameters in your call to something random won't stop it working.
It also means naming them in the call is a bit pointless, but if you're just trying to document the call then you can use some other meaningful name rather than 'number' if you don't want to quote it.
Hello as mentined in you question . There are two ways in which u can eliminate this RESERVED keyword ISSUE.
1) Use "" to use any RESERVED key word for calling. But remember this is not a good coding practice.

Two simple ways to do this in XQuery. Both rely on being able to assign the sequence of values to a variable, so that we can look at pairs of individual members of it when we need to.
First, just iterate over the values and select (a) the first value, (b) any value which is not one greater than its predecessor, and (c) any value which is not one less than its successor. [OP points out that the last value also needs to be included; left as an exercise for the reader. Or see Michael Kay's answer, which provides a terser formulation of the filter; DeMorgan's Law strikes again!]

The primary difference between these two ways of performing the calculation and your non-working attempt is that they don't say anything about changing or modifying the sequence; they simply specify a new sequence. By using a filter expression, the second formulation makes explicit that the result will be a subsequence of $vseq; the for expression makes no such guarantee in general (although because for each value it returns either the empty sequence or the value itself, we can see that here too the result will be a subsequence: a copy of $vseq from which some values have been omitted.
Many programmers find it difficult to stop thinking in terms of assignment to variables or modification of data structures, but its worth some effort.
[Addendum] I may be overlooking something, but I don't see a way to express this calculation in pure XPath 2.0, since XPath 2.0 seems not to have any mechanism that can bind a variable like $vseq to a non-singleton sequence of values. (XPath 3.0 has let expressions, so it's not a challenge there. The second formulation above is itself pure XPath 3.0.)
In XSLT this can be done as:

There are several logic and XQuery usage errors in your solution, but the main problem with it is that variables in XQuery are immutable, so you cannot reassign a value to one once assigned. Therefore, it's often easier to think about these types of problems in terms of recursive solutions:

I came across a surprising behaviour in that I cannot take the square powerof a variable. Ada permits that the square power of the actual value be taken though. Below is my sample code:

Two questions:
(a) What am I doing wrong when I take testing ** 2.0 ?
(b) The square of -0.11603 is positive 0.01346. So why I am also getting the negative sign in my first ouput?
After some additional testing:
If I take only positive 0.11603, then output (its square) gives
(a) -0.01346
(b) 0.01346
which can imply that part of the problem is with the negative sign.

The "**" operator raises Numerics.Operator_Error when the left operand is negative, or when both operands have the value zero.
It's not unreasonable to expect it to work when the right operand is mathematically an exact integer like 2.0, but for non-integer exponents the mathematical result is a complex number, and Ada.Numerics.Generic_Elementary_Functions doesn't treat real numbers that happen to be exact integers as a special case.
If all you want to do is square a number, use the built-in "**" operator with an integer exponent. In other words, change this:
testing ** 2.0
to this:
testing ** 2
Im new on this project and am going to write, what i thought was a simple thing. A recursive function that writes nested xml elements in x levels (denoted by a variable). So far I have come up with this, but keeps getting a compile error. Please note that i have to generate new xml , not query existing xml:

You have written this function in a procedural manner, XQuery is a functional language.
Each function body can only be a single expression; it looks like you are trying to write statements (which do not exist in XQuery).
Firstly, your let expression must be followed by a return keyword.
return is only used as part of a FLWOR expression, a function always evaluates to a value. As you have written it return is equivalent to /return and so will return a node called return.
The line $counter := $counter + 1 is not valid XQuery at all. You can only set a variable like this with a let expression, and in this case it would create a new variable called counter which replaced the old one, that would be in scope only in the return expression of the variable.
The correct way to do what you are trying to do is to reduce the value of $argument each time the function recurses, and stop when you hit 0.

Note that I have changed the name of the function to Test. The name "PrintTest" was misleading, as this implies that the function does something (namely, printing). The function in fact just returns a node, it does not do any printing. In a purely functional langauge (which XQuery is quite close to) a function never has any side effects, it merely returns a value (or in this case a node).
The line $counter := $counter + 1 is valid XQuery Scripting.
