Shiny apps stuck in italics - r

I opened some Shiny apps today and discovered that, when I run them in RStudio, every piece of text in each of the apps was in italics -- in headers, select-input menus, and even data tables. Nothing in any of the apps is supposed to be (nor ever has been) italicized. The error occurs exclusively when I run the apps locally in RStudio; everything looks normal when I run it locally in a browser or when I go to the links where they are deployed.
Nothing in the files has changed since yesterday (when they were fully functional) and my RStudio is fully updated. I updated R and all the relevant packages but it did not make a difference.
Any idea what's going on or how to fix it?
Thanks!

How to use shinyShortcut package on linux

I am trying to create an shiny app for people that are not R users (they even may be frightened :D).
After the question about server/local app here (How to import remote csv file on a deployed shiny app?), I try to use the shinyShortcut package solution.
I did the following:
devtools::install_github("ewan-keith/shinyShortcut")
library(shinyShortcut)
shinyShortcut(shinyDirectory = "/home/cha/Server",
OS = "unix")
then I got :
So I have all that is normally required (at least that is what I think).
Since I never used the .desktop before, I ran the instruction here.
I put the .desktop on my desktop
Right click and change setting the tutorial did
I allow again from a right click and the .desktop disappears. Everything seemed ok.
However, when I double-clicked on the icon, nothing happened...
I tried to change the web browser or the application to launch it, nothing works.
What did I misunderstand ?
Thanks in advance

How to run a shiny app as a standalone application?

I've some shiny app and I want to execute and to make it standalone application (it will be awesome if it will open via chrome).
I can't upload the app to the Net and I want that also co-workers without R studio or R
will use this app.
because of the security company - I can't download any software except R packages.
I saw here a few solution, but all of them included any software download.
I have done some research on this issue. The commenters are basically correct: you need the R binaries in some way, either a portable R or an R server. But there are solutions that allow it to bundle those with your code and hide the details from your users.
On option is to wrap your app along with
a portable R into a container application like Electron. The electron-quick-start project tries this.
The RInno package provides functions to bundle your app and R portable into an installer app. Every user runs the installer on their system once which will install your app, the packages and the code. But in the end users may not see the difference to other apps. They get a link in the start menu and that's it. I did that successfully. But it did not work out of the box. I had to adjust the output manually in several places.
A second container solution works with docker. That is what ShinyProxy does. See also this blog.
The package shinyShortcut (I quote) "will produce an executable file that runs the shiny app directly in the user's default browser".
Important to note: I haven't tested most of them. From reviewing the solutions I often get the feeling that these solutions might make releases somewhat complicated because there are always manual steps involved.

Global variables not saved after executing R code

Recently I swapped my personal PC with admin rights to my employee's PC, where we use AD to log in and where I do not hold admin rights.
Since that event, I have trouble running my R code. I currently develop Shiny app. Each time I click "Run app", two things appear to behave differently versus my old setup.
First of all, I can run app only once - after that, the Rstudio is busy forever, suppressing me from running app again, accessing data frames created by my app and so on. So after each test of some changes, I literally have to reset entire RStudio.
Secondly, despite the fact that I have set my working directory to "C:/Users/mylogin/Documents", after restarting R, there are no global variables visible, event after saving workspace image. I used to use global variables to debug my app after closing it. Of course I can rewrite entire code to, for example, dump all the tables to different files.
My question is: is it possible, that this behavior is related to not having admin rights on my current PC? Or is it related to another issue and if so - may someone provide me some help in that matter? I have little to no knowledge about debugging Rstudio.
Setup: Win 10 64bit, R version 4.0.2 (2020-06-22) Rstudio desktop, 1.3.1093, Apricot Nasturtium.
For future generations: the problem perished, without any particular reason, quite frustrating that we will never know the answer.

R studio not responding

My RStudio is opening multiple processes(opening R Studio in different windows) when I open just one. I am not able to open any project. It becomes unresponsive. I tried using in compatibility mode, running as admin and also uninstalled. But still,(here's the image) the same problem persists. Can someone please help me?
Before you reinstall everything, which may take a lot of time, it is worth removing application data, which is a cache R keeps of last sessions etc. It involves settings such as information from last session, etc which RStudio tries to reopen every time you open it.
For app data, look under your user folder which must be somewhere like
c:\Users\<your_user_here\AppData\Local
c:\Users\<your_user_here\AppData\Local\LocalLow
c:\Users\<your_user_here\AppData\Roaming
Delete every subfolder called R, RStudio-Desktop or RStudio under these folders. Don't worry, you won't lose your source program files and projects. It may help you recover everything without having to start over from scratch.

Stuck at "Client modified--refreshing" on Terminal after Code Refresh

I installed Meteor (p.s I'm new to app developement) onto my laptop (running Windows 10) and have created an app for which I have downloaded packages for (materialize, accounts-ui and passwords). The problem that I'm facing is that whenever I make changes to the html, css or js files, I get "client-modified" on my terminal, but it never actually refreshes. It's just stuck there in a loop after no matter how many modifications I make. Is this due to the current Meteor version I have installed (1.2.1)?
=> Client modified -- refreshing
This happened to me also, yesterday and today, that's how I found this question.
My observations are:
check if the app is running and working despite the apparent hang. If it does, try making a simple change in a html or template file and see if the app auto-updates. It did for me, but your mileage may vary.
If it gets too annoying, you can always just kill and restart the app. Shouldn't take too long. Check if this improves the situation.
If 2. does not help you may try "meteor reset" to clean things up, but ONLY if you just started developing your app and don't care about losing any app data (MongoDB get's wiped along with the rest of the /.meteor/local folder)
Hope the above helps...
Norbert
