Error in Instaling QVTKWidgetPlugin - qt

Hie,
I am new to VTK.I want to use QVTKPluginWidget in Qt designer.
I am using Visual Studio 2008 with MSVC compiler
CMake- 2.8.10.1
Qt Version -4.8.3
VTK - 5.0
As per VTK User's Guide we have to configure VTK Lib with Cmake with setting
few options like,
VTK_USE_GUISUPPORT=Turn On
configure
Desired Qt version cmake take itself
configure
then
set qt_qmake_executable
ON Build Example
configure
after doing this i am getting this warning in Cmake

CMake is adding directories in the second list to the linker search path
in
case they are needed to find libraries from the first list (for backwards
compatibility with CMake 2.4). Set policy CMP0003 to OLD or NEW to enable
or disable this behavior explicitly. Run "cmake --help-policy CMP0003"

This warning is for project developers. Use -Wno-dev to suppress it.
Generating done
Then have to build this library in Visual studio then Copy the
QVTKPluginWidget.dll in Plugin/Designer Folder.
Then we should get QVTKWidget in designer
But i am not getting that in designer after doing this process.Kindly help
me.

You have to build VTK with BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON (as described here http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/VTK/Tutorials/QtSetup) to use the widget in Designer.

Building Qt project with cmake

Just installed QT and trying to build a QT project from inside the QTcreator using Cmake instead of Qmake.
I get the following error:

CMake Project parsing failed.
Now if I use the Cmake-GUI instead, I can configure and generate the project files successfully, after supplying the environment variable CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH.
But I can't get this to work from inside the QTcreator.
Anyone has any experience with using Cmake with QTcreator then please help.

The error message says that your C++ compiler Visual Studio 2015 (64 bits) could not be located. Maybe when you run cmake-gui it finds another C++ compiler like mingw?
In Qtcreator's settings dialog you have a tab showing the detected compilers, and another one with the available kits.
It seems that QtCreator is using a deprecated version of cmake. Update QtCreator to a new (unreleased, as writing this comment, version 4.10.0 is broken) or downgrade cmake to choco.exe install cmake --version 3.11 --force (a newer version might work).
Please also make sure to install jom (as this is the default for QtCreator/CMake on windows).

The deprecation warning is harmless. CMake deprecated the cmake-server and provides a new API for the same purpose now. Qt Creator will support that from 4.11.
The error tells you, that CMake is unable find the cl compiler. cl.exe comes with Visual Studio. Make sure you mark C++ there during the installation process. It is not installed by default anymore.
Alternatively install the MinGW tool chain from the Qt installer. In Qt context it is easier to use than the Visual Studio tool chain.

Error in OpenCV configuration for Qt Creator

I followed these instructions in the configuration of OpenCV SDK for using it in Qt Creator IDE, but I couldn't conclude point 6.5, due to configuration errors in Cmake-GUI. I setup the configuration in CMake of the compilers gcc and g++ contained in Qt folder for MinGW32, and all looks Ok. But when Cmake-GUI starts the process of build configuration it ends up saying
"Error in configuration process, project files may be invalid".
It can't find the following:
QT_QMAKE_EXECUTABLE;
Qt5Concurrent_DIR;
QT5Core_DIR;
QT5Gui_DIR;
QT5Test_DIR;
QT5Widgets_DIR.
After this issue I tried to go on with following points of configuration tutorial, without reaching the final instruction of mingw32-make install. I'm using the following versions of softwares: Qt 5.3.0, OpenCV 2.4.9, CMake 2.8.12.2. My OS is Windows 7.
How can I recover the missing Qt files in CMake configuration?
Is there an alternative way for configuring OpenCV with Qt (like using precompiled build of OpenCV libraries)?
You just need to indicate CMake the correct paths to each one. Click oh the path to browse and set each one individually:
QT_QMAKE_EXECUTABLE;
For this one, you need to search inside the Qt installation folder for the /bin directory. On it, you' ll find the qmake.exe. In my case it was C:/Qt/5.3/winrt_x64/bin/qmake.exe
All the following ones are in the Qt's /lib/cmake directory. In my case: C:/Qt/5.3/winrt_x64/lib/cmake :
Qt5Concurrent_DIR;
C:/Qt/5.3/winrt_x64/lib/cmake/Qt5Concurrent
QT5Core_DIR;
C:/Qt/5.3/winrt_x64/lib/cmake/Qt5Core

Then click generate. It' ll show a new error and ask you for the QT5OpenGL_DIR. Just as before, show CMake the correct directory. In my case: C:/Qt/5.3/winrt_x64/lib/cmake/Qt5OpenGL. Finally, click Configure again, and then Generate, and now you're done creating the build files.
You have to specify the location of Qt manually by passing it as an argument for QT5Core_DIR. Qt5_DIR or CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH does also the trick.
Example
Given your Qt 5 is installed at /opt/selfcompiled/Qt5. When calling cmake, add the flag from above:
cmake -DQt5_DIR=/opt/selfcompiled/Qt5 <pathToSourceDir>
Once the Qt 5 directory is set and found by CMake, all the other variables related to Qt 5 should be found from there, too.

Qt Creator 4.8.4. windows 7 - 64bit installation

I have some difficulties with QT, which I need for school for some GUI applications.
I have recently done these steps:
1) mingw-get-inst-20120426.exefrom SourceForge installed to C:\MinGW\ with default settings.
2) Qt libraries 4.8.4 for Windows (minGW 4.4, 317 MB) from QT Project installed to C:\Qt\ with default settings. Here an error occurs:
!!!There is a problem with your MinQW instalation
!!!g++ not found in c:\MinGW\bin\
!!!Do you still want to continue? Yes
I checked c:\MinGW\bin\ there is no such file
3) Qt Creator 2.6.0 for Windows (51 MB)also from QT installed to C:\Qt\gtcreator-2.6.0 with default settings
4) Run the QT IDE
5) Open project or create new project. Another error occurs here
!!!No valid kits fond.
Qt Creator uses the invalid kit Desktop to parse the project.
6) Open Options->Build & Run->Kits (But I don't know how should I set Kits and where to find them).
7) Can you also help me, how to set Qt version
(Options->Buid&Run->Qt Version)? Where do I find qmake.exe?
I also didn't find how to create GUI Application. There is no such option in New File or Project...

That is quite tricky ;)
Precompiled Qt (MinGW) is only win32 (not win64).
Precompiled Qt is compiled with MinGW-g++ 4.4 and won't work with other.

Add "Compiler" by g++.exe
Add "Qt Version" by qmake.exe.
Add "Kit" with Compiler and Qt Version configured above. You can try to change debugger from CDB to GDB.
When you installed mingw, did you select the C++ compiler? It is not selected by default but you need it. Re-run the wizard and select that.
The kit is not valid because the C++ compiler cannot be found: try to install it first. If you still cannot setup this read the manual: http://doc-snapshot.qt-project.org/qtcreator-2.6/creator-targets.html. It is very complete.
qmake.exe is in *qt_directory*/bin/qmake.exe.

Hardcoded QMAKESPEC in Qt Creator?

I installed Qt SDK (Qt framework + Qt Creator) but didn't like the layout of folders so I deleted it (without uninstalling), moved framework in one place and Qt Creator in another and installed Qt framework and Qt Creator separately placing each over the respective old one.
The problem is Qt Creator in Projects/Build Settings/Build Steps keeps showing the old path to the specification file:
-spec c:/qt/2009.03/qt/mkspecs/win32-g++
Setting QMAKESPEC environment variable either in the system or in Projects/Build Environment doesn't change anything.
How can I force Qt Creator to see and use new location of the specification file?
This does not fully solve the issue but if you add '-spec' (without quotes) in the additional arguments box in build steps -> qmake, then it removes the win32-g++ argument.
NOTE: I have NOT been able to build the project after doing this (i changed it to win32-icc and win32-msvc2008 as i have both the intel c++ compiler and VS2008) but the build fails with the error ---- "*** MIssing Separator. Stop." in the makefile
I don't have Qt Creator installed, but I suppose it may store this setting somewhere on filesystem, look in your %HOME% or %APPDATA% for directories associated with Qt Creator and search the files inside for this path.
Have you tried going into Projects->Build Settings->General and clicking on the "Manage Qt Versions" and making sure that everything there is all correct?

qt cannot open input file 'c:\Qt\qt\lib\qtmaind.lib'

I am using qt 4.5
I have created a project and I want to compile on visual studio 2008 for windows mobile 6.0
So I have created the project files doing this:
D:\Projects\Phone_PDA\Phone_PDA>set QMAKESPEC=win32-msvc2008
D:\Projects\Phone_PDA\Phone_PDA>qmake -tp vc
The VS project was created. However, when I try and compile I get this error:
LINK : fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file 'c:\Qt\qt\lib\qtmaind.lib'
However, when I check my librarys and includes under project properties in visual studio. I have this:

Are you sure you are using the correct QMAKESPEC?
I would think you would need to use wince*-msvc2008

Open the Visual Studio command prompt (you can find a shortcut in the start menu). It has all the appropriate environment variables set. Go to C:\Qt\20****\qt. Type configure and then nmake.
Did you download the source distribution? If so you would need to compile Qt before you get the libs.

My commercial version comes precompiled. If I remember correctly, when I used the open source version I needed to compile everything myself.
First you have to configure the Qt to your machine to get the libs! It will takes several minutes. Follow the steps in: http://portfolio.delinkx.com/files/Qt.pdf
in properties -> linker -> input
remove ANY path for qt libraries such qtmaind.lib
sometime you need remove :
/SUBSYSTEM:WINDOWS%40QMAKE_SUBSYSTEM_SUFFIX%40) from the VS project (under Properties --> Linker --> Command Line).
this is known BUG in VS addin
