I've got an ASP.NET MVC 4 application, which I can browse locally
http://localhost:portnr/SomeController
When I try to browse it from another computer in the same network, or just by local ip, I get "Bad Request - Invalid Hostname"
http://192.168.0.x:portnr/SomeController
I dont get the same error if I specify an invalid portnr, so I guess the error message is from asp.net itself.
I'm trying to browse the site from my IPhone.
What should I do to make this work?
The port is an internal dev server port. You will need to use a tool like SPI Port Forward to forward your local port externally outside your local computer.

I'm setting up website. IIS hosting my site (ASP.NET) is located on server server1. when I connect to my website http://server1.com/site/ eveything work fine.
We decided to use DNS alias - supersite, which means, when I connect to my website using http://supersite.com/site/, this should be equal to first request.
Command line ping command shows the same server - this is for sure.
This doesn't happen. When I'm connecting with raw URL http://server1.com/site/, server responds correctly, when I connect using DNS alias http://supersite.com/site/, server returns:
The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.
I tried configure more detailed information, I set up Error Pages -> 500 -> Detailed Error, I enabled Send errors to browser in ASP menu. Nothing helps.
I think, that server doesn't connect to my website when I'm using DNS alias and all my attempts enabling detailed errors means nothing.
I'm running a ASP.NET on my pc and I would like to access to that app from another pc on the same network. I've tried to reach the app writing the URI of my pc on the network followed by the port number as below:
"192.168.X.X:49223/"
But it shows me an 400 error saying that it's an invalid hostname...
Is there something to do with my windows firewall or in IIS to allow access from another PC ?

You may need to an exception in Windows Firewall.
Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Advanced Settings > Inbound/Outbound rules.
Add a new rule to both, specifying your port number and a generic name to identify its purpose.
Install IIS server on your machine, then deploy your application on that IIS server.

To run the application on IIS instead of ASP.Net dev server you need to
Right click on solution in VS
Click on Start Options..
In Server section, Select "Use Custom Server" and then provide the URL of the application you have added earlier on IIS
Then you can easily access your website from any other machine on the same network.
Is it hosted in iis, or are you running it through Visual Studio. The funny port number (49223) tells me it's the latter.
When you run a VS project, the dev server is designd to only allow local conconnections. If you connect from a network it gets blocked by design. Their is no config around it.
What I do as a hack is run a reverse proxy like Nginx. It's a free download. Run it on your dev machine. You can tell it to listen on a port (eg 88) and then redirect tge traffic to port 49223. Give your mate the same url as before but replace the port with 88

This then tricks VS into thinking it came from your local machine.
On my desktop I run Visual studio web server cassini and fiddler as a proxy, then I connect to a web site running in Cassini using an iPad connected via wireless.
This has always worked since I installed and unistalled the MVC pack for visual studio.
Now I get this message from fiddler (it is sent to the iPad):
[Fiddler] DNS Lookup for "http://175.33.22.116" failed. The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found
There are similar posts with this message, but none of them with my setup.
Can you suggest what to check?

This indicates that the traffic from your IPAD client is malformed. Are you using anything in Fiddler (e.g. Tools > HOSTS) to change the traffic? If not, the bug is on the client; e.g. something is trying to connect to http://http://175.33.22.116 which isn't legal (due to the double http:// within the string).
Good afternoon in my timezone.
I am developing a web appp in J2EE.
This web app is called and access inside a sharepoint portal.
When i enter through the sharepoint portal i can access my application, using chrome developes tools i can see all the HTTP traffic, and i see that the browsers sends a request to the following server that is where my app is running serverprd.enterprisename.com.
But when i use the command line in my windows 7 , to ping the machine(server) , for example :
ping serverprd.enterprisename.com it returns me the following message:
"Ping request could not find host serverprd.enterprisename.com"
I am using a proxy.
Can anyone tells me why this happening ? Why through the browser i can access the server and the ping command does not find me the server ?

Your proxy server id the one who have an access to outside world. All http requests are sent to proxy server and proxy server does DNS lookup. In case of pin, your host have to do DNS lookup and this operation obviously now allowed ( firewall or so).
I have an IIS7 site that works fine while on the server, however refuses to work from anywhere on the network.
When logged onto the IIS Server itself (with remote desktop) then the website shows fine, as per this link (I used port 801 for this site):
http://localhost:801/
However when attempting to access this site from the network, it refuses to work, giving the generic 'cannot display the webpage' message, while using the following link:
http://<<my IIS server>>:801/
Another thing I have noticed however is that on the network the default page (port 80) of the IIS server DOES work. I.E this following link shows the standard IIS7 page:
http://<<my IIS server>>:80/
Most of the help topics I've read point to it being a firewall issue, however as a test I disabled all firewall settings on the IIS Server, yet it still refused to show.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Did you tried with computer name and / or IP Address
e.g: http://192.168.1.105:80/
http://DELL_PC:80/
Run the following tests:
Check connectivity from both computers.
Firewall settings, temporary disable the firewall from all profiles (private, domain, public) if this works, try adding a Port Rule to your firewall allowing incoming connections to port 80.
Also, it'd be important to check the bindings configuration of your website, bindings specify the address the server should listen to for incoming connections, make sure you have 'All Unassigned'.
