I just started using the ZXing SDK in my iPhone project. This requires that include it be renamed to .mm files (objective-c++).
The problem is that because of one file in my project xcode refactoring has been disabled for the entire thing.
Is there a work around to this issue? A way to refactor for everything except that file or a better way to include things? Possibly by making a static lib of third party code?
I can recreate the problem you're having by adding a C++ file to a Cocoa project. I was able to enable the refactoring menu items by selecting a different file in the project navigator and selecting some text. If that doesn't work, you could remove the one file from the project, do the refactoring, and add the file back to the project.

I am trying to create a project assosiated with the SimConnect SDK.
I am new to QT, and in Visual Studio, I just had a SimConnect.h file, a .lib file, and a .dll file, and I managed to make it work. Now I am trying to create a C++ widget project, using the same SDK, but in QT.
I put the header file in my QT project's folder, where the other default code and header files are located, and then I went to the project and added them as existing files, as I read in Google. I'm having problems with the actual library.
I've been searching Google for a guide on how to add a library file to the project, I did some things I saw on the internet, like the LIBS line for example, but I probably did it wrong, even though it looked very simple.
I am not sure where to drop my dll/library files in the project directory, maybe the problem is I always put them in the wrong spot.
The furthest I got to, was an error message saying "Unresolved external symbol", and a red writing saying ".obj file not found" on every function I tried to use from the SimConnect functions, which probably means QT couldn't find my library/dll file.
I also tried to add the libraries from the "Add library" option in the project, but that didn't work too.
EDIT: it also warns "warning: LNK4272: library machine type 'X86' conflicts with target machine type 'x64'" maybe it has to do something with it.

Solved! My problem was my machine was set to 64bit, while the library was set to 32bit, so I downloaded the 32bit kit, and ran the project through that, and it worked!

The thing is that I'm trying to publish an ASP.NET MVC 5 Project. Unfortunately the dreaded Visual Studio and the hungry Jack Typescript interpreter ignores any tsconfig.json file and decides to go deep down and look for any .ts file that is not accompanied by a .js. I have lots of npm packages nested down and some of them have uncompiled typescript files.
Funny thing is, that they are not included in the project (not even an exclamation mark). (I even checked for the .csproj and no files were found).
Is this a bug? How can I prevent this from happening? Using VS 2015.2 (Update 2).
I had a very similar issue. Publish kept failing because it couldn't find foo.js as it wasn't in the same directory as my ts/tsconfig files, even though outDir was set to another location. I don't know if it is a bug or not but I couldn't figure it out using the tsconfig. Instead, I was able to get things working by using the inbuilt TypeScript Build settings instead.
First, I deleted all tsconfig files from my project (I made sure I kept a backup just in case). The TypeScript Build was originally greyed out because I had the tsconfig files in my project.
Next, I created a new folder directly under Scripts to save the js files into.
I then went to Project Properties and selected the TypeScript Build tab. Under Output, I checked the Redirect JavaScript output to directory and browsed to the newly created folder. I repeated this for all build configurations.
Finally, I included the new folder in my project and then built. Folders and files which aren't included in the project can be seen as a ghost icon in the Solution Explorer if you have Show All Files icon selected. I think that if you have multiple TypeScript projects with their own tsconfigs, the file structures are replicated under the chosen output directory but I haven't tested it in many cases so I'm not certain.
Obviously I had to redirect my script bundles to the newly created js structure.
When I first followed this process, I got a few build errors mainly due to my own daft mistakes in my TypeScript code which I'd set the tsconfig to conveniently ignore. Another error was multiple references for objects, which I managed to fix by deleting the definitions files and making sure that the Generate declaration files option was unchecked in Typescript Build. Once I fixed those issues though, I was able to publish without that annoying error - happy days!
I'm running JetBrains ReSharper 8.2 on a project that uses SASS for styling.
I compile my seperate scss files into one file "common.css". This file is not included in the project, but gets compiled on build on the server (grunt + compass takes care of this).
I don't want to include this file, but only my SCSS files in the project. This however causes ReSharper to report a lot of errors ("Unknown CSS class"...) in my views because the file isn't included.
Is there a workaround for this (without disabling css errors in settings)?
I've tried the "ReSharper.ExternalCode" extension (https://resharper-plugins.jetbrains.com/packages/ReSharper.ExternalCode), but without any luck.
Sadly, there isn't a workaround for this. ReSharper doesn't know about SCSS files, and doesn't know anything about files that aren't included in the project, so it can only assume the CSS classes are undefined.
The external code plugin should work and allow ReSharper to process the resulting css file. However, I'm not sure how flexible it is - I think it needs everything to be configured before the solution is opened. That is, it only tells ReSharper about the generated file when the solution is being opened. Configuring things while a solution is open probably won't be reflected immediately (but I haven't tried it). Similarly, it doesn't notify ReSharper of changes to the file, and I don't think that ReSharper sets up any monitoring. So if the file isn't available when the solution opens, or changes while it's open, ReSharper won't have correct information. I'd try and configure it, close the solution and reopen.
I have recently upgraded to VS2012 and have a small issue. All our sass files are checked into source control and the corresponding css file gets generated when the project is built (the css file is never part of source control). with VS2012, as soon as i edit the sass file, a css file is created under the sass file (nested under it) and the project file is checked out. I do not want this as we don't need to check in the css file.
Is there an option i can set to avoid this ? Had a quick look under tools ->options but didnt see anything

So the Web Workbench plugin was automatically modifying the project file and including the following under my scss files. This was still present even when i disabled and removed the plugin. There's no option to disable this function in Web Workbench, so i wont be using it anymore.

Using SassyStudio now which is nice and simple.Has the option to disable auto css creation and project adding etc.

Problem:
I have been trying to integrate minification of javascript and css files in our VS2010 (.net 4.) projects. From what I hear, .net 4.5 and VS2012 will have minification build into the editor, so it will be as easy as setting a flag it will work. Unfortunately we are sill on VS2010 (.net 4.0).
Let me explain what I want to do and what I dont want to do.
I dont want to do big setups with classes/config file(s)/etc just to minify because all that stuff will have to be loaded on our build machine and even the build xml files might have to be modifies to make it work. Also, once we go to vs2012 and .net 4.5 all these configs/classes/etc will have to be discarded because vs2012 will have the build in functionality.
Here is what I think might be the best option. Since I am using the ScriptManager and it can already pull either a .debug.js (non-minified) or a .js (minified) script based on the build type, it seems all i need to do is to have some sort of (pre?) build event that will re-build a non-minified .js file into a minified one. Obviously the build event will have to call a minication module which would have to be installed on local computer (the YUI Compressor seems very nice). The module would update the minified .js file.
I have been reading about this, but I am getting a little bit lost. There are a lot of third party tools with bunch of setup and classes which I do not want to add.
Did anyone do something similar as I explained about?
If not what is the next best simple solution?
(By the way, if you are going to say move to VS2012/4.5, thats not a solution for us at this point)

I would just like to explain what I did so that it may help someone in the future.
I installed the Microsoft Ajax Minifier
Created a batch file to add minifer to ENVIRONMENT PATH variables: setx path /m "%PATH%;C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Microsoft Ajax Minifier"
Added the following pre-build events into my project:
ajaxmin $(ProjectDir)Script.js -out $(ProjectDir)Script.min.js -clobber
If Script.min.js does not exist, it will be created by the build event, but it will not be added to the project (not sure how to do that through the events).
When you add a new script file, mynewscript.js, just create a second blank file called mynewscript.min.js and add an pre-build event for it.
Using this approach the only thing you have to do to the build machine is run the Microsoft Ajax Minifier setup package and the batch file. Thats it everything else will be part of your pre-build events.

after downloading the tool you have 2 options
1. edit the MSBUILD file to include building the js as per build event
OR 2. to attach this tool to VS and assign a key compbination to it.. this way you would be able to minify whenever you want just like we do F5 OR Cntrl-Shift-B
