We have the Wordpress MU Domain Mapping plugin installed and have followed instructions to the best of our ability but we can't seem to get this working at all and I've tried everywhere to get advice but no-one seems to know anything about it...
Here's the scenario.
We have Wordpress MU installed at (eg) abc.com so each new Wordpress site we create is then at (eg) site1.abc.com, site2.abc.com, site3.abc.com etc. These are all virtual sub directories and Wordpress MU does not generate any physical sub directories for site1, site2 and site3.
What we wish to do, is purchase new domain names and map them to each one of these sub Wordpress sites. (eg) mynewsite1domain.com will be mapped to site1.abc.com so instead of the site appearing as the following in the visitors browser address bar...
site1.abc.com
site1.abc.com/about
site1.abc.com/contact
...the URL's would appear as...
mynewsite1domain.com
mynewsite1domain.com/about
mynewsite1domain.com/contact
This particular setup is on a VPS running Plesk CPanel, I have complete access to everything including SSH if anyone can advise how on earth this setup is meant to be correctly configured to function as explained above.
I'm guessing something needs to be done with DNS records, at the domain registrar for mynewsite1domain.com, we have the name servers pointing to the VPS IP that the Wordpress MU setup resides on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using WordPress Multisite 3.3.X or an older implementation of WordPress MU (or the MU plugin from a third party)? Likewise, to accomplish domain mapping, are you using the official domain mapping plugin from Automattic or another third party implementation? It sounds like you are using subdirectory vs subdomain multisite. That is not how domain mapping is typically used (the Automattic version at least).
You shouldn't have to point the new domain names to the server's DNS (unless you want it to be the authority), you'll just need to assure that the new domain names resolve to the same IP address of the main web server (an A record should suffice). The domain mapping plugin is pretty straight forward on how to map what domain name to what subdomain and whether you wish to have it redirect or use the new domain name in the address bar. The later would give you what you seek with mysite1domain.com/subfolder, etc.

So I have set up my static website via S3 and have attached it to my domain example.com.
Then, I have launched a separate wordpress blog via Elastic Beanstalk, let's say exampleblog.us-west-2.elasticbeanstalk.com.
I have already configured my CNAME settings in Route 53 such that blog.example.com maps to my elastic beanstalk site (exampleblog.us-west-2.elasticbeanstalk.com), except, once I start clicking around on the blog itself, the URLs all become exampleblog.us-west-2.elasticbeanstalk.com/NAME-OF-PAGE
How do I get a complete subdomain redirect? i.e., I want all of the pages in my blog to be in the form blog.example.com/NAME-OF-PAGE

Okay -- I have actually figured this out myself so just will share in case anyone else has the same question:
It's really simple - You just need to access Wordpress > Settings > General and then update your site address (URL) to your subdomain (in my case, blog.example.com).
Boom!
I have a domain, www.mysite.com, which is registered at NETWORK SOLUTIONS, LLC. and currently points to a hosted page at a 3rd party.
I have created a new wordpress page on Hostgator, and I created it using the domain www.mysite.biz.
I want to now point www.mysite.com to the new page on hostgator but without redirecting.
I believe what I need to do is:
change the www record on Network Solutions to the IP address on Hostgator.
I believe There is a plugin I can us to change the domain for all of the wordpress database.
Are these the correct steps? What is the plugin name I can use to change the domain?

When you say you want to point www.mysite.com to your new wordpress site "without redirecting", are you saying you want to use www.mysite.com as the new domain name? If so, you're going to want to go into your account with NETWORK SOLUTIONS, LLC and enter in hostgator's nameservers. See here: Network Solution Link and here: Hostgator Link
I want to set up a multisite network using subdomains under a domain that is used for a non-wp site.
so, for example, we want our domains to look like:
blog1.mysite.com
blog2.mysite.com
but mysite.com points to our main site that is not built with WordPress and is not part of this network.
I'm not sure what to do here since the main domain, site.com in this case, typically points to the root blog on the multisite network.
I suspect this is common and there is a simple solution but I'm not sure where to start.
Update (unresolved) :
I've had a little bit of luck working on this locally but I'm still not out of the water...
my dilemma… I need to set up multisite with subdomains under a domain that is not part of the network? So basically, we have our main site: mainsite.com
and we want to set up a network with subdomains like site1.mainsite.com and site2.mainsite.com.
mainsite.com, however is not a WordPress site and is not part of the network. so If I set the network up under multisite.mainsite.com, then new sites subdomains are created with that as the subdomain like: site1.multisite.mainsite.com
but if I set the current site to mainsite.com, then all of the network admin links break because they point to our main non-wp site.
So, here's what I've done, which kinda works (I'm doing everything locally with my hosts file so I won't know for sure until I get it on a dev box) ...
First I pointed mainsite.com to my local ip in my hosts file and set the network up under mainsite.com
Next I successfully created two sites. multisite.mainsite.com and site1.mainsite.com, through the network admin panel
Then, I changed the 'current site' in wp-config.php from mainsite.com to multisite.mainsite.com and I removed mainsite.com from my hosts file.
Now, I can go to mainsite.com and land on our primary website; I can go to site1.mainsite.com and land on the wordpress site on the network; and I can access the network-admin-section under multisite.mainsite.com
The problem is, since the current site is multisite.mainsite.com, if I try to add a new site to the network, the domain will be site3.multisite.mainsite.com instead of the intended site3.mainsite.com
So I still haven't found the correct solution here but this might help explain my problem a little better

I have a multisite wordpress install at plataforma.vendamais.pt
And I have a wildcard for *.plataforma
So all new sites created have this url:
client01.plataforma.vendamais.pt
client02.plataforma.vendamais.pt
and so on.
I need to connect my client's domains to the correspondent website, so the url client01.plataforma.vendamais.pt wont be visible.
As a real case, I have a client's website here:
www.tancredoferrari.plataforma.vendamais.pt/
I need to have his domain tancredoferrari.pt pointing to that address, so his clients will navigate using tancredoferrati.pt and wont see any of the www.tancredoferrari.plataforma.vendamais.pt url.
Is it possible?
There's 2 options here:
Option 1
An CNAME record on the live domain's DNS should be sufficient to do this - so long as you're happy that the resource requests (images, scripts, styles and so forth) behind the scenes are going to the staging domain URLS (client02.plataforma.vendamais.pt and so forth).
Option 2
Check out the wordpress plugin WordPress MU Domain Mapping. With that you can map the site to multiple domains (and set the primary), which is a better approach.
How do we point existing domain to wordpress MU site on another server? Here's the setup.
Server A has WPMU installed, with network setup of subfolders. www.wpmuinstall.com/site1
Server B has a domain hosted on it.. www.clientdomain.com
We want to point www.clientdomain.com from ServerB to ServerA www.wpmuinstall.com/site123
If above is not possible, we can switch to site1.wpmuinstall.com but then how do we point this site1.wpmuinstall.com to the siteid1 ? We have the WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin installed but the WPMU is still setup as subfolders.
Please advise on how to accomplish client domain pointing to our wpmu site. Ideally we want to setup something like wordpress.com with custom domains pointing to subsites.

If you are working with paths, install Wordpress Domain Mapping plugin and follow the steps described on this article. It will let you map a domain to a path in your server.
If you are using subdomains, then:
Add the desired subdomain to a site.
Point www.clientdomain.com to your wordpress server.
On your server, add the domain www.clientdomain.com and make it point to your wordpress installation.
Wait until DNS changes take effect.
Your site should be ready.
