I get the following error when I use this command on the cluster : mpdboot -n 4 and the error I get is:
unable to open (or read) hostsfile mpd.hosts
What does this mean, and How do I go about fixing this?
you have to have $HOME/mpd.hosts unless you specify alterantive machine file.

I'm trying to add torrents to transmission from python. The code is shown below...
def download_movie(magnet_link):
os.system('transmission-gtk')
#webbrowser.open(magnet_link)
os.system('transmission-gtk ' + magnet_link)
As you can see I've tried 3 different options to add these torrents but none work.. I've also added XDG_RUNTIME_DIR="/run/user/1000" in the crontab file. The log in /var/mail is running the script but it shows: (transmission-gtk:14091): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:. I've also run the command xhost + as said in http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/06/xhost-cannot-open-display/ but still the gtk-warning comes up. Anyone have any ideas? What I want eventually is that I run this script on a pi so if anyone has any alternatives, I'm all ears.. Thanks.
It's because you are trying to use GUI app where console one would be appropriate.
See man transmission-remote for details:

I am using RSelenium and want to set a Firefox profile. So I tried to reproduce the example of the answer to this question. However, no matter what I change I always get the following error. What am I doing wrong?
I already read in the RSelenium manual that for windows systems RTools should be installed when one wants to make a Firefox profile. I did but nothing changed.
The error is the following:
Error in file(tmpfile, "rb") : cannot open the connection
In addition: Warning messages:
1: running command '"zip" -r9Xjq "C:\Users\mariu\AppData\Local\Temp\RtmpQfl3bl\file15c41fc2411d.zip" "C:\Users\mariu\AppData\Local\Temp\RtmpQfl3bl/firefoxprofile/prefs.js" ' had status 127
2: In file(tmpfile, "rb") :
cannot open file 'C:\Users\mariu\AppData\Local\Temp\RtmpQfl3bl\file15c41fc2411d.zip': No such file or directory
the problem is that Rselenium cannot create a zip file of your Firefox Profile (error status 127), therefore cannot read it in the next command line.
I resolved following this answer:
Create zip file: error running command " " had status 127 .
Do as the link says , shut down R, restart your pc and it should work.
Thanks,
Rob
Sometimes, for some reasons, it is not enough to add Rtools file location to Environmental Variables as was mentioned here. To solve the problem you need to add path within R using folowing code:
writeLines('PATH="${RTOOLS40_HOME}\\usr\\bin;${PATH}"', con = "~/.Renviron")
Then PC needs to be reseted. After that you can check whether path was setted correctly.
Sys.which("make")
## "C:\\rtools40\\usr\\bin\\make.exe
If output of sys.which is "" then something went wrong. By the way the entire procedure has been described here: https://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/Rtools/.
I try to run HBase in windows. And got this error
I search and find some answer
a)download winutils and paste it to the bin directory but error still be there.
b)set HADOOP_HOME , but I don’t know how I must set HADOOP_HOME or HBASE_HOME.
How I can fix this error?
i solve the problem by set an environment variable as HADOOP_HOME and add path of hadoop root as it's path.
and use hbase-094.27 instead hbase-2.6 and it run without any error.
I am trying to change the memory usage for R on a windows 7 machine.
I go to the desktop shortcut > properties and try to change the target from
"C:\Program Files\R\R-2.13.0\bin\i386\Rgui.exe" to
"C:\Program Files\R\R-2.13.0\bin\i386\Rgui.exe" --max-mem-size=500M
as per this post https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2010-June/241154.html
But I get an error message "The name '"C:\Program Files\R\R-2.13.0\bin\i386\Rgui.exe" --max-mem-size=500M' specified in the target box is not valid, make sure the path and file name are valid."
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I just tried it. It works fine on my machine. Maybe you entered the --max.. in the "execute-in"-field instead of the "target"-field. If this is not the problem try this: create a .bat file and enter yourpath\Rgui.exe --max-..., then create a shortcut to that .bat.
