I am currently working on a project which needs an editor for google map so that users can draw polygons , lines , add markers , images, etc. Directly working with google map api is pain in the ... i am not satisfied and running out of time
Did you know any good apis to work with? I found some like Google Maps API For .Net, but it has several known bugs. Is there any javascript+jquery , flash , flex , or .net api to work with?
Read the documentation for the drawing library included in version 3.7 of the maps API. Google is now providing this API as an add on library

How to work with UiSettings in Google Map API v3? I try to show compass in map (not street view). I'm new in there if anyone know how to show it will be helpful. Thanks.
This feature is available in Google Maps Android API. Unfortunately, Google Maps Api v3 does not have this yet. I suggest that you file a feature request in Google Issue Tracker. If you are not familiar with issue tracker:
Issue Tracker is a tool used internally at Google to track bugs and feature requests during product development. It is available outside of Google for use by external public and partner users who need to collaborate with Google teams on specific projects.
Issue Tracker is not a general purpose issue-tracking tool and is not offered as a consumer product for external teams who want to use it for their own issue tracking. You cannot use this tool as a general place to submit feedback on Google products. Please refer to the documentation for individual products for instructions on providing feedback.
You may visit the issue tracker here.
I have several simple Javascript Google maps on two websites. What is project here - each map or everything ? Or maybe maps on one website are one project ? But they have nothing to do with each other. How many projects should be created and how many credentials ? So far I created one project and so many credentials as maps in it. But these maps are separated, almost all different, only few of them generated by one common php, but even in this case half of them are completely different in the internet.
I don't understand this at all.
Thank you.
Usually you should use one API Project for each "property" which is displaying maps. If you have one website where you tracking popular fishing spots and another website where you provide a directions to a local restaurant those should probably be two different API projects.
Each individual map shouldn't have it's own project.
Thanks. This is going to be a supplementary question. Yesterday I created already second project for maps located on second website (despite they have nothing to do with each other except location on the same domain), created new API keys for those maps and deleted their API keys in the first project, because they are in the second project now.
And maps can't be displayed any more. Google Maps is gray and displays information:
Oops! Something went wrong. This page didn't load Google Maps
correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details.
The Javascript console says:
"Google Maps API error: DeletedApiProjectMapError
https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#deleted-api-project-map-error"
js:32:350
The same maps work fine without API key, but don't work with the new API key !
Here is an example:
http://darz-bor.info/mapy/puszcza/
I will keep this file with not working API key 1-2 days to allow you to see it and after that will remove API key.
How to make the new API keys working ?
go to Maps JavaScript API and Active this part.
Recently i really was amazed by openstreet maps, and it's very possibilities to manipulate data, aswell the free of charge about many prescious things - like geocoding and the maps itself.
But i wish to still having a backup behind with google maps.
Is it possible to having both of them in Flex, and how ?
( or at least where i can look for similar project of "unification" )
It appears that OpenStreet Maps has a REST API. You can access that API in a Flex application using the HTTPService; assuming a proper crossdomain.xml file is in place.
If not; you'll have to use a proxy between your Flex app and the REST API.
MapQuest has an Open Flash API that uses OpenStreetMap data. They also offer an Open Flash Mobile API that can be used with Flash Builder to build apps for the iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry tablet with the new tools in Flex 4.5+.
Feel free to check out the documentation on the MapQuest Developer Network!
I am trying to develop a web based map application where the user can interact with the map. But I am new to this field and do not have much idea about how to approach this. Basically I want to use a static map created by me, so I think google map API s may not be used in this case. My development platform is unix. Can you please suggest what language I should use to write the server and also what kind of free tools can be used to implement the map part?
Thanx...
I suggest reading up on the Google Maps API 3. You can add overlays or even add your own tiles using the API. Specifically, I suggest looking into the GroundLayers section of the V3 API here GroundOverlays
I've got a Flex application that uses the Google Maps component. Is it possible to configure the component to use Google Maps API v3 without API Key? If not, is there a workaround to use the JavaScript API? Or a timeline for providing swc using Google Maps API v3?
I currently perform client-side geocoding using the Google Maps API v3 webservice, but I need to also display maps and allow user to interact with them.
Firstly, realize that the Javascript API and the Flash API are different API's.
I imagine that they will porting the no API key feature to the Flash API soon.
However, I have no used the Flash API in a while and Google may be moving away from maintaining it. It doubt that they will though. They have a lot invested in the Flash API.
