I needed a gadget for Google Calendar so I wrote it; I'd like to offer it to the public for free.
However, after going around in circles through Google help on publishing gadgets, it seems that iGoogle directory is only for iGoogle gadgets. Although my gadget works on iGoogle by redirecting user to Google Calendar, iGoogle users don't really need something like this. My gadget makes sense only inside Google Calendar itself.
Is there a way to offer my gadget to the public without people needing to add "Add any gadget by URL" gadget and paste URL to my gadget? Something like "add gadget to iGoogle" button, if there is no official directory of Google Calendar gadgets...

I am trying embed three calendars (Homeaway, Trip Advisor and Airbnb) onto my website, however none of the three have explicit widget functionality to enable them to be embed.
All three do however allow you to add the calendar's to your own google calendar, so I figured the best way around this would be to add them to google calendar then embed the google calendar onto my website.
I have set the permission settings to 'Anyone can' see all event details after importing these into google calendar.
Upon exporting and adding the iframe to the website, the event calendar produces the following error which I believe is due to the calendars I've imported not being enabled to publically be shared from the source they have been imported: Error Message
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this issue?
I discussed this with a representative from Homeaway and Trip Advisor if anyone was looking for an answer to this same issue.
They have permissions for their calendars set so that this is not possible. Unfortunately linking to their website for the calendar seems to be the best way to do this.
Can anybody help me to find a solution how to make this code work on my Wix-Site:
Click here to opt-out of Google Analytics
I have this code from Google itself (At the bottom of the page see "example"):
https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/
Here is a Screenshot of this code from the google website:
Google Analytics Opt Out Code
I tried this:
$w("#text1").html = "<a href='javascript:gaOptout()'>Click here to opt-out of Google Analytics</a>";
But I was told that in Wix it is not possible to add events to a-tag elements in text element. Here you will find the little discussion that I had on Wix Forum:
https://www.wix.com/code/home/forum/questions-answers/how-to-link-text-to-a-url-using-w-link
I also asked on Reddit, Facebook and WixSupport. But nobody could help me with that issue.
You might want to take a look at the new wix feature called "tracking and analytics". It lets you embed custom scripts in your html's body, header, or footer.
https://support.wix.com/en/article/about-tracking-tools-analytics
You cannot access the HTML directly via Wix Code. Wix Code exposes a dedicated API for you to manipulate their controllers and elements on screen but not further under the hood.
You can use wix-fetch to call external API calls to google analytics (if they have an API to opt-out, not familiar enough to say here is the post)
anyway, your code in Wix should be something like this:
(as example API taken from their docs)
import {fetch} from 'wix-data'
fetch('https://analyticsreporting.googleapis.com/v4/...', options) // returns a Promise
I will start by saying that I have fair experience in HTML, but please keep the technical terms to a bare minimum. Pretend you're explaining it to a child. :-)
I used Wix.com to make my site (Wix is a place to easily design websites and has little HTML capabilities, since it's all based on being able to easily design a site with no HTML knowledge). You can add a Google Analytics tracking code, so i can see the number of clicks on the site, but that's about all. Apparently you can't change the code to be able to see button clicks on the site etc. (or maybe you can?...)
This is what I need above anything else:
On the site are a few "sign up now" buttons. When someone clicks it, they go to a signup page on an external site. I need to be able to track who clicks these buttons and when.
Ideally it's all tracked within google but apparently it doesn't work on wix.
Priorities:
Somehow it works with Google Analytics on Wix. It would have to be if somehow I can track it with Analytics without putting a code on the site itself. Don't know if or how that would work.
If not Google, is there a simple 3rd party Analytics site that could track the number of clicks on these buttons to external pages? It would be best if I can get the IP addresses of the clickers as well.
this is fairly easy, try customerlabs.co/google-analytics-event-tracking which can directly help you to send data about the users when they click event tracking.
eg:
Wix supports 3 types of goal tracking for your site: Destination, Duration and Pages/Screens per session. Currently, Wix doesn't support an Event tracking goal.
I want to embed editable google docs in my wordpress site. I try different plugins but it not give option for edit.
How i can embed google docs in wordpress.so that user can edit and view the docs.i want to embed editable google docs in wordpress site.
Create your Google doc document then make sure all people are able to edit the document without logging in.
To do this click share on the upper right hand corner of the page when you've opened the document and then try changing the "who can access" from private to "anyone with the link".
Now simply publish the document on the web, get the embedded code and simply paste it in your blog post.
I think this should do the trick.
I've been working on this for a while. An iframe works well for editing/viewing on desktop. The plugins are good for viewing documents. When it comes to mobile browsers, iframes don't fly. Its best for the user to download the document and then view it on a native google docs app.
I'd like to be able to collect RSS feeds online as an alternative to collecting them on a desktop machine using a regularly running process.
Ideally, it would either collect all feeds and simply email them to a single address as soon as it finds a new one (or even without checking for new feeds) or aggregates all the smaller feeds and sends them out as a bulk larger feed less periodically.
It would have to run on a web server continually, but would be a nice to be able to collect all feeds, not just the ones I happen to pick up when a feed reader is running on my machine. Is something like this available?
Just use Google Reader. :)
Google Reader.
Maybe Yahoo's Pipes could help you. It is an interesting way of combining and manipulating feeds.
I'm not sure if you have ever used it but iGoogle allows you to customise the google homepage to display information from around the web. You can add tabs to the page to allow you to split the information up. It's extremely useful and as you can log into it from any computer / browser you can access your feeds anywhere.
If you have a lot of feeds of one type or feeds that update infrequently then iGoogle can also be combined with google reader.
It's also great for adding other plugins like gmail, games, Dilbert :) and more.
To create an iGoogle page go to the google home page and click the iGoogle link in the top right corner. iGoogle will then provide you with a starter page and some suggested content which you can add or ignore. If you click the "Add Stuff" link then "Add feed or gadget" you can manually add all your RSS feeds. However, you can also configure Firefox to automatically select google as your RSS reader when ever you click on an RSS feed icon in the navigation bar. You can select / change this under Tools -> Options -> Applications -> Web Feed.
In order to use your iGoogle on multiple browsers / computers you will need a gmail / google account however it's free and easy to create.
